hey, so the paint on my bumper on my maxima is peeling right off... making the car look pretty ghetto

this is not the same bumper that came w/the car, it was a replacement since my car was hit by another car etc etc...

should i just take it to like a maaco? somewhere that paints cars and have em repaint the entire bumper (after scraping off the old paint i suppose)???

or does this warrant a brand new freaking one

please advise

Though it can be expensive, having a company sand and paint a section of your car may be the way to go. Sure you could buy a new bumber from say a junk yard...but 'if' its in good shape, most likely the colors will be off depending on the age of your car.

At least with paint they can usually do a pretty good job with blending to the color of your car.

When was this bumper put on? How old is the current paint job on it?

thanks for the input. the bumper was put on about 2 years ago. i am under the impression the paint job may be 2 years old as well.. maybe they used cheap paint for this replacement bumper?

i did not go through the dealer for the replacement btw

Just sand it down and do it yourself.

If you are not that hardcore of a gearhead to have sandblaster/paintguns in your garage, then your only real choice is to have a professional do it.

If the bumper has color on it that blends into, touches, or is clearly apart of the body of the car, a professional is the best bet. He can "almost!" match the colors perfectly. I dont' care who they are, unless you get the whole car painted with the bumper, the colors will never perfectly match up. Will you notice? No. Will normal people notice? No.
