Episode #5 is here! Rejoice!
http://www.ifanboy.com/images/iFanboy_005_100x100.jpg
iFanboy takes a look at the Ultimate line of books from Marvel Comics. Has it really been seven years? Somehow Ron made it all of that time without having a heart attack. They examine the highs points, the low points and everything in-between. Well, not everything. This show isn't six hours long.

I was a big fan of the Ultimate Line when I came back to comics. It was really what got me reading any Marvel books at all. Having said that I think the line started to come apart about when they launched Ultimate Fantastic Four. Until then the UFF had been referenced in Spider-man a few times to give you a feel that they had been around forever, then the actual book came out and threw that into the wind. Then the long run of late minis, and they were all late and most mediocre, helped move me more away from the Ultimate line. I guess in retrospect it did exactly what it was supposed to for me. Get me reading marvel comics then move me over to the main line.
I did throw a link for this up over at an Ultimate specific board I go to. Don't blame me if some of the... more rabid members hunt you all down.

I don't know if this has been asked yet, but just for curiosity's sake...what kind of camera(s) are you using?
Show looks great. I'm sure it's a lot of extra work, but I hope you're having fun with it too.

We usually have fun with it. Though everything always takes a lot longer than we think it will. And something goes wrong technically EVERY time. But, overall, it's a fun time, and there's no doubt you guys help motivate us to work harder.
We've got 2 cameras. One is a Panasonic GS-500, which we used in San Diego last year, and for BKV, and the first couple shows. It's an awesome camera. Now there's a second camera, of which I don't remember the model #. It's a Panasonic too.

Nice look back at the Ultimate line up. I couldn’t believe it had been that long since it started. And I thought the point about how far USM was issue-wise compared to Ultimates was downright messed up in how delayed that book has become. Since I only read Ultimates in trades, I’ll look forward to the next trade when it when it comes out in 2020.
On a random side note, I wasn’t expecting the longer episode. I made you the last video podcast during my time at the gym today, thinking it’d be a nice quick one to watch to end the workout. I never noticed that it was 20 minutes long and just kept thinking, “man I must be out of shape b/c this is the freaking longest 5 minutes ever!”

Well, the hard work definitely shows (all the subliminal messages and book inserts go a log way). And we definitely appreciate it.
Very nice camera. I was a film major for my first year of college and then realized my interest in video production did not match the time and money invested in the larger productions. Made an atmittedly lateral switch to screenwriting.
But with the advent of YouTube and video podcasting, I've been missing doing smaller videos, so I picked up a camera pretty similar to that one last summer. Hoping to put some stuff togather for a video podcast in the spring.
Anyways, just wanted to offer my thanks for the work you're doing, and especially for the content you're providing for my morning commute.

I'm completely techno-retarded, which is why I look at cartoons on paper. But I do recognize that the show is awesome guys. Thanks.

I enjoyed this one the most out of all of your videocast so far. Although I have a few factual errors to fix.
1. The Ultimates DID plan on killing the hulk. They show this by drugging him and leaving him on a tanker to blow up via a nuke. They didn't plan on him surviving hence why they want Wolverine to KILL the Hulk and not even bother bringing him in.
2.Ultimate Spider-Man has web shooters. No organic webbing at all...unless your Ultimate Jessica Drew
3. Not sure if this is fact or not but I think they may have actually canceled Ultimate Wolverine Vs. Hulk outright. Although I honestly don't know this for sure and I hope I'm wrong

I was first exposed to iFanboy last week, and I have to say that I really like what you guys are doing with the video podcast. It's a fun take-off on the "dudes sitting on a couch talking about [blank]" that Diggnation popularized.
One minor complaint, though. The audio podcasts are nice and varied with content from Marvel, DC and others. However, three of the last four video podcasts have had almost a total Marvel focus. Which is cool and all - I really enjoy the Ultimate line and was keen on hearing you guys chat about it. Still, I'm hankering for a broader focus on the video podcasts.
Anyway, great job on the show. It's nice to have great comic book related content in my podcast queue.

I'm afraid that trend is going to continue for one more week. When we do field pieces we are limited to who is out and about and so far that has mostly been Marvel people. Um, does that mean the next show is a field piece? Did I just say too much?
I'd say that the first two episodes were not at all Marvel-centric.
We've got shows in the pipeline that feature a lot of different kinds of non-Marvel books, so stay tuned!
Thanks, again.

Ah! Well, I am in for the long-haul, so I guess I can put up with one more week of Marvel. Man, do I feel guilty registering with a DC-centric screen name.
I can't wait for the NYCC episode. Seems like there'll be a torrent of interesting new information from post-CW Marvel and post-52 DC.
Thanks, again.
You're welcome, and thank you. There's been a relative dearth of comic book related content on this whole Web 2.0 tidal wave (as compared to stuff like tech news) and it's fantastic that you guys took the plunge and produced something this good. Heck, Newsarama still doesn't even have an RSS feed, and here you guys are with video podcasts.

No reason to feel guilty!
