I am liking Deodato on this.

definitely so far so good
what'd you think of the turnaround on Songbird so immediately?
and the team finally going into action?
and the adjective toyability or whatever it was?

I think the turnaround on Songbird makes it obvious that the people in charge of this group do not share the old T-bolts' set of morals. Makes me very interested in seeing how Songbird, Swordsman, and Radioactive Man fit in with the more psychotic members of the group.
Action is great, what with it being a superhero comic and everything.
Toyability was a bit cheesy, but I can accept it.
I really liked Jack Flag calling them out, I hope he is able to be developed further in future arcs.

He's good. Where's he been all these years? Is he only cool because of what Ellis has done with him or have I just been missing him all this time?

I seem to remember reading a Captain America comic with him and a girl named Free Spirit. That had to have been more than ten years ago. He seemed like a typical throw away 90's character. It just goes to show you that good storytelling can make any character interesting.
oh shit a character named Free Spirit. Who'd of thought that would be a bad idea?

She was a babe-sidekick for Captain America and that was about it. She didn't even need a name, really. No one expected anything of her other than to look hot and kick a Hydra (or was it Serpent Society?) goon every now and then. I have nothing against female characters, but this one was little more than a bad girl/tough chick to get readers to buy Captain America issues. It was the 90's after all.
Why give Cap a female sidekick? Just let Liefeld draw it all the time and the readers will already have more breasts than they can handle

Is it ironic that Liefeld gave us a Captain America with a rack, but a flat chested female Bucky?

I just read Thunderbolts #111 and wanted to comment and question on it.
I think I'm going to like this book
Does that mean Scarlett Spider is back?
Was that a hint that Spider-man is believed to be dead after CW?
Is Bullseye going to pull a "Scooby Doo" every issue?("and I would've gotten away with it too if it hadn't been for those darn kids!")
Discuss:)

Whatwhat?
I picked up 110 after it was POW but didn't plan to keep up. Now I may have to.

1. Possibly. I was honestly thinking of dropping it though. I was hoping for some more character development, but it's early I guess.
2. Maybe.
3. It does look like the media isn't clear as to who's alive or dead. Depending on where Spider-man was fighting there may not have been cameras around. So, there are some assumptions to be made about the results of the battle if you look at that scene. And one is led to believe that Spider-man could very well be in a "good as dead" or "hopefully dead" position according to the media.
4. Bullseye is pulling what's called a "Marmaduke." Which means he does whatever he feels like because he's Bullseye. And what's not to love?

I have asked my shop to pull upcoming issues of Thunderbolts for me. I am EXCITED as to what Ellis can bring to this title!
it's been really good. The art was good in 110 but seriously sucked in 111
strangely it was deodato on both issues

Deodato is scheduled for all upcoming issues. I have just finished reading Incredible Hulk vol. 8: Big Things. His art was great in this, well suited for Hulk SMASH! scenarios.

He was good in 110 - in 111 it seemed rushed and over-muscley again. It was almost to a Liefeld men with breasts level of crazy

I love Lieleld men. Although of late, his artwork has been less Liefeld-ish?

Agreed. The scene with Venom "movie hulking" it up was horrible and a lot of it just seemed rushed. Amazing how art can change over an issue.

Fingers crossed Thunderbolts #112 will feature better artwork. I want to give Warren Ellis a chance with this title, but I recall that run he did on X-Force with Whilce Portacio that was just awful.

you're just f&&king with me right?
you love old super-scary super-breasty?

That particular panel pushed me over the top. If not for that and the fact that it was NextWave's last issue I would've chosen Thunderbolts as my pick

I agree that panel was way over the top did not need to be done like that at all. But i'm guessing they wanted to get across that the "puppets" still lack self control.

A little late to the Thunderbolts party, but I finally read #111 and have mixed feelings. I was hoping the Jack Flag battle would have stretched out a few issues and found it mildly sucky that Flag was so quickly and disgracefully taken out. I was hoping they'd give it a better ending after focusing on him and his wife last issue. Still interested enough however to keep reading.

I agree. I had the same thought about it. The fact that they gave him an enitre book and then paralyze him in the next issue. But I'll keep reading it as you said as well.

Did it seem kind of odd that if the T-bolts are government sanctioned (and Iron Man sanctioned) that they would be ok with Bullseye paralyzing someone? I think they even mentioned that their original intention was just to break his arms and legs, as if that was ok.

Well look at the team they put together. Bullseye doesn't know how to do anything but kill. Same with venom.... KIILLLLLLL (argh)
Better yet they are letting Osborn head the operation
