Am I the only person on these boards that reports this shit?

You are not the only one, but I thank you anyhow.

It's just it seems when I'm not here there are like twelve different spam topics.

Without spam, what would us moderators do? We would have to resort to other more deviant activities.

Probably has something to do with the mods not being on all the time. Probably build up in those periods.

Yup...I think so.
*Klitzy designates you as the official designated mod b1tch.

What services does a mod b1tch offer? And exactly how many are there?

Well excuse me for wanting these boards to be spam free.

Honestly, I am firmly under the opinion that this desire is not feasible. I don't think it is ever going to happen. We can only keep the hammer going, smashing the moles as they pop up.

That's what I meant, someone has to be here to fight off the spam hordes with their Viagra tipped arrows, and if that makes me a mod b1tch then so be it.

If I did not have spambots to ban, then who would I ban? I would have to resort to editing users signatures and avatars or something. The possibilities are really endless. You should be happy for spam.

Look, the policy on posting new threads needs to be tougher on new members. What would be the downfall to requiring a minimum of, say, five replies to other threads before starting a new one? A spammer isn't going to want to waste the time, a new legit person would have to spend a little time reading before and replying before starting anything new.
Spam is annoying on this board. But I work in anti-spam/fraud and find it to be, well, it provides job security, that's all I got to say. That, and Italian porn is hilarious as all hell.
Anyway, it seems that the time spam stays on the board longest is in the evenings pacific time. I do think the mods should pick a few people and give them the privilege ONLY to remove spam, no other mod things. Nor would title change to reflect this. There'd be no glory, no authority, just removing this crap as soon as it hits the board.

I agree with Aria and I would be happy to do that job, I hate when spam pollutes this board.

Over the past 5 days or so, the incidence of SPAM posting/threads has really spiked on the boards.
You have all noticed it ... but have probably seen less than half of it.
Please remember that the mods are not employees of Rev3 ... we are volunteers, and we have other lives - either professional or academic, and family that also needs attention, so we aren't online all the time. Being on the east coast, I tend to be one of the first mods on in the morning, and get the job of cleaning up the spam from the night before. Not a big deal.
Over the weekend, between redoing electrical outlets, and patching drywall in my office I am going to go through the IP addresses of the recent spammers and see if we there is a pattern to the IP addresses being used so that we can block the accounts from being created.
In the mean time, please report the SPAM - I love the way my Blackberry vibrates when I get new email - but DON'T bother replying to the threads, it only encourages other people to look at them, and raises them up the list of active threads.

I know. And I'm not complaining, just offering to help. I've said before (many times) that I work in anti-spam/fraud, and I can't stand when people ***** about a few more messages in their inboxes, thinking we aren't doing our jobs. Well, what they don't realize is that, when they got 2 messages, we blocked 100. Now that they have 5, we blocked 250. More spam is hitting, which means more will get through, like it or not. So just realize that I'm not *****ing. If we saw this increase in spam posts, but the number of spam message attempts weren't going up, then I'd say that there is a problem. But I know that there are more attempts to begin with.

We know, which is why you've got us volunteering to help.
Just stopping by to say that I like the minimum replies idea.
