Yesterday's Geekbeat and this week's updated Diggnation won't play on my Android phone. This is the same problem many people were having with several shows a little while back.

I'm having problems playing all Revision3 podcasts on my Android phone. Did something change with the file formats?

It looks that way. Today's Tekzilla is also a no-go.

When you are reporting problems like this, please also let the bit wranglers know WHICH file you are having problems with - i.e. HD, Tablet, or Phone?
There are also a lot of Android devices out there, and unlike the iOS ecosystem, the combination of hardware and Android OS version (even between carriers) are wide and varied.
So, if you want help, please give as much information as possible.

Using a 3rd gen ipod and experienced the problem where wouldn't copy the videos from itunes to my ipod back in June. Beginning to see it happen again after several weeks of smooth sailing.
So far seeing the problems with the latest shows for GeekBeat, TZ Daily and Hak5.
itunes is showing the subscriptions as Geekbeat (small), Hak5 (Quicktime Large) and Tekzilla (Quicktime Large).

In all cases, these are the "large mp4" versions. Today's GeekbeatTV also failed.

Try the small version.

I haven't tried the small version this time, but the last time Rev3 changed the encoding so that the shows wouldn't work on my phone, I did download the small versions. They did work, but they are only 320x180, and scaling them up makes them look "soft". The phone screen is pretty small already, so I would like the shows to look as good as possible. I'm not sure why Rev3 keeps changing the encoding, as it wasn't broken.

I can not play Hak5 or Tekzilla Small-MP4 feeds on my Android 2.2 (Droid 2). This issue appears to have started in the last 2 or 3 days. Non-Revision3 mp4s play fine. The error displayed is "File cannot be displayed or played".
I have only tried Hak5 and Tekzilla so far. I will try a few more Rev3 videos tonight.

Oh wow, so the small mp4's aren't working either? Hopefully this gets fixed soon. I'd hate for Rev3 to lose downloads, aka money, by breaking these feeds.

I also am having issues even syncing the Small version of all podcast from TRS, Tekzilla, Filmstate. All podcast were downloaded from Itunes
This happened about 6 months ago when I was using the Large formatted shows on my Ipods, the only fix I could find was to downgrade my iTunes feeds from Revision3 to the Small formats.
iPod Video - when syncing states that this format is not compatible with this device.
iPod Nano V5 - also is getting the same issues
iPad - Will sync the videos and play
Some forms said to sync with the Large version but still will not work.
I have noticed that they are M4V movie files and that Apple web site says it will play but I am still not having any luck
Revision3 why are you leaving older portable devices in the dust?
Is there any way we can still get these feeds that will still work for Older devices, via another format from youtube or miro?
From Apple support forms - QuickTime and MPEG-4 movie files that end in ".mov", ".m4v", or ".mp4" and are playable in QuickTime Player.
Thanks

Hey guys, we just discovered a problem with our external encoding process which caused phone-sized episodes between last Friday and today to be encoded incorrectly (at WAY too high of settings, not following our specs). This was obviously not intentional and we are in the process of re-encoding all affected episodes.
Very sorry for the inconvenience, but they will be streaming smoothly to your devices are intended again very soon!

Exact same issue. Small mp4s worked as a fix before, but not now. Doesn't anyone from Rev3 patrol this forum? Is anything going to be done about these incompatible mp4s?

We discovered the problem (an undocumented/unexpected change in a new version of our encoding platform) and are almost done re-encoding all the affected episodes. They should all be done within the hour. So give it another try now... should work as great as usual again (and hopefully look a little better, too!) We're really sorry about the inconvenience, and definitely want to continue supporting as many mobile devices as possible with the best quality possible. It's pretty crazy how small changes can make huge differences to the playability of an encoded video.

I have only tried today's Tekzilla Daily, and it worked perfectly. Thanks for getting things back to normal :)
