On work desk? None. At home? Eh.......would lose count.
But I do always, ALWAYS, carry a knife on me. And soon maybe a pistol.

Is this a for professional reasons or fear for your personal safety?

So I have to ask, what's the point in owning so many knives?

Knives are cool. I've probably cut my hand open at least once on everyone of them.
I have about 25-30 lighters as well laying around.

What the gun? It's cause I've already got them and they don't do me any good at home. I'd like to carry them with me, keep them in my glovebox, etc.
Knifes, well I do always carry one, and it's more of as a tool than anything else. I grew up on a farm, out in the country, and was a boy scout. I got off of my graphic arts job a 5pm, and I usually go home and work on a farm. It's just a tool. Although, there have been some situations in which I though I might need it for actual protection.
Oh! I have killed some rattlesnakes with it. That was protection.

Completely off topic but the boards are absolutely desolate at the moment, and I'm extremely bored.

Agree, i carry my Leatherman Wave with me on my belt everywhere i go (save airports haha). I get some crap for it periodically like "Dude, why do you need a knife -- you're a computer nerd for crying out loud!" (haha) or something likke that. But the way i see it is, it doesn't bother me at all, and everyone is stoked i have it on me when it comes in useful for them :D
As for how many are on my desk.. none actually. There is a rather large Butterfly boot knife on the table right behind my desk though.. and if i didn't keep forgetting to get it back from a friend, i'd probably have one in a drawer
Funny, i thought this was a personal problem; glad to see everyone (well, nail clippers.. you're being cut [no pun intended] out of this generalization Aria :p ) on this message board has that same strange fascination

But the way i see it is, it doesn't bother me at all, and everyone is stoked i have it on me when it comes in useful for them :DI too am a compuer nerd. I have two Leatherman tools, one in a leather pouch, the other in a ballistic nylon pouch with socket heads that kinda sorta snap in when the knife is closed.
One or the other was always strapped to my belt while I worked. I could strip a computer with the knife easily, and the small screw driver was perfect for tightening the screws on my Raybans.
BUT then 9/11 happened, and the TSA ws formed, and they put up a hissy fit about knives on planes. Since I do a lot of travelling, I stopped carrying the knife with me. The only time I have it on my my belt now is when I am working on the house (like under the floor, or in the attic space), when carry a shitload (tm) of tools is a PITA.

If its metal you still could stab someone so it would count sorta.
