Hi all,

I just switched over to using an iPhone and got my company to pay for the new iPhone 4s, however there are a couple apps I'd like to use that are only available if Jailbroken... I've been searching around the interwebs and are overwhelmed with sites that are trying to scam and information overload that is offered by other sites that seem not to really work.

I'm totally relying on you guys here as I know that SOMEONE has done this on these forums and would appreciate any help you are able to offer.

Thanks in advance!

If its a company provided phone - don't jailbreak it. Keep it as stock as possible.

Eitherway, jail breaking the 4S and iPad2 is only preliminary at the moment and does not give a complete jailbreak. Those companies charging the $$$ are not actually charging for the jailbreak (though that is what they tell you), they are charging for the unlock of the device.

If you want to unlock - if the account your company has is well established with the carrier, call the carrier up and tell them you need to phone unlocked because yo are traveling. They MIGHT want to talk to the person who looks after the billing (primary contact), so it might be worthwhile teeing that p in advance. Otherwise, wait 6 months and call your carrier to try and unlock it yourself, but if it is centralized billing you will still be SOL because they will ask to speak to the billing contact.

Keep your eyes open. A safe - and free - jailbreak won't be too far away, but with the new CPU architecture, its taking them while to find a reliable exploit.

Totally agree with that argument. I would take the advice, bearing in mind the consequences. Besides, when have you ever had an easy time dealing with the phone company. If you have, it would be a first as far as I am aware of... If I could count how many times, I've been double-billed, I would probably have some money coming back my way.

Great things come to those who wait. Dunno who said that, but it's true.
