I know there are alot of Ipod/Itunes/media smart people here on the Rev 3 forums.. here's the deal-io...
My mother just gave me an 8gig Ipod touch that she bought and couldnt quite figure out (she had an Ipod classic for playing mp3s and the extra features of the Touch confused her).
This is my 1st Ipod/Apple product... and pretty much my 1st real adventure into using Itunes (which I hated and only used afew times before for cd ripping).
I set up an Apple/Itunes/store account and figured out how to put in all the settings for email and my wifi connection... I installed Itunes on my PC and it scanned my PC for my music files (20+gigs of mp3s)...so far so good..

I saw that it was advisable to Sync the Ipod to the PC/Itunes acct... I go to do that and it says that the Ipod is already "Sync'd/attributed" to my mother's acct. It gave the option to Restore to factory settings and "import" (or whatever term they used) from my PC's Itunes but when I tried It said that there wasnt enuff space to do so (guess it wanted to transfer my entire music collection to the 8 gig Touch (but knowing it was only 8 gig I created an Ipod Touch playlist on my PCs Itunes w/ only a gig or 2 of tunes...
So pretty much I'm wondering if I can save/export my email and wifi settings off the Ipod touch (took me afew hours to get it all right).... then wipe/restore it... and instead of syncing my entire library... only send the playlist that I created named "Ipod stuff" (which is only a gig or 2 and not the entire library)?
any ideas are appreciated... I understand that restarting from scratch might be needed from either the Ipod or the PC's Itunes... I'm thinking that re-making the library on the PC might be easier and quicker... but hoping there's a way that dont need to start over

Ok... never mind w/ the reset and the syncing.. my "new gear ADHD" kicked in and I took the 2 hours (reset my PC's Itunes to nothing and then sync'd) and will re-compile my Itunes library later.
So.. now I'm (as a newb to Apple/Itunes products) having some confusion w/ the Mail app (and others). It isnt that good at handling multiple email accts.. 3 hotmails, a gmail, a yahoo, and a comcast acct.. is there a free 3rd party app thats good handling email accts?
Gotta say... from a Windows user getting his 1st exp of an Apple product... Yes.. it might be great for a mom that has 1 email account and might be confused by offering options in a menu or when signing up for something... but they make it hard to get into the nitty-gritty of the options on this OS

Re:Mail.app

Upgrade to iOS v5. Do it now before you load it up with stuff. The consolidated email client is much much better. You still have separate mailboxes, but also have a consolidated view as well.

That's par for the course with Apple products.

There are a number of email apps. Lifehacker recommended eMailGanizer as a good alternative. http://www.emailganizer.com/

If I were you I'd just funnel all my other email accounts into my Gmail (or other account, but it's easiest with Gmail). That's gonna save you a LOT of time and effort.
