View Full Version : Best Team-ups

Okay. Best superhero team-ups? Historically and in general.
Which pairings work the best? Which one's haven't?
What characters would you like to see team up in the future (limited to a 2-character crossover), and what creative team should work on it?
How about villains?

Hal Jordan and Barry Allen.
Boo-ya!
I know the Green Lantern/Green Arrow books are better, have more of a cultural impact, etc....but there was something about the classic Jordan/Allen team ups that has always stuck with me.

I know it was a one-off, but I loved the team-up between Captain America, Wolverine and Black Widow in Uncanny X-Men #268.
Luke Cage and Woody Allen
They could call it Power Man and Paper Fist

Despite their different levels of power I love Batman Superman team-ups.
I also like to see the Thing and the Hulk work together or fight each other. They see at the same to so similar and yet so differant.
The Human Torch and Spider Man always make me laugh when they get together.
I think Dr Strange works better alone. He is just too powerful and makes anyone working with him superfluous. That might be true of any magician.
I thought Kitty Pride and Wolverine worked well together.
It seem to me that the best team ups involve some level of antagonism.
I loved the recent Wolverine Black Cat mini. That one scene where she was fighting the bad guys while he was stuck in a pit. After she won the fight she said. "You can come out now, its safe." I imagine that the first time anyone ever said that to Logan.

I've always enjoyed the Spider-Man Black Cat team ups although I haven't read the most recent one by Kevin Smith.

Did Smith ever finish Spider-Man/Black Cat? I remember waiting forever between issues and never did see the last one.

Yes he finished it. Nice art but the story was only fair.

There's a premier hard cover of it out that I've talked myself out of buying several times(I have a HC problem). I've heard really bad things about it since. Glad that I didn't.

The Batman/Riddler team ups in Detective are fun.

i have the same HC problem, although i really dislike those premier hardcovers. The biggest draw for me is the oversized art, and those premiers are tiny.
I agree
they're better than trades though

The first two issues were good but went downhill after that. :(

I love that he put the 'Great Lakes Avengers' right next to Lobo. That is just funny to me for some reason.
My favorite team-up was the Peter Parker/Ben Reilly teamup. It was a single issue during 'Onslaught'. Peter wasn't being Spider-man anymore, but he came to Ben's rescue. Ben gave Peter one of his web shooters and they went off into the city to take out sentinels.
I know it had to happen, but I'm still sad they killed him.

Inside a bubble created by Kyle Rayner, no less. ACBG, how old is that picture?

I'd imagine it was from the JLA/Avengers crossover (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JLA/Avengers) from 2004/2005.

When are they going to do an Absolute/Omnibus edition of that?
The scene where Batman is lecturing the League not to interfere with Marvel Earth that turns into Plastic Man lecturing Batman is one of my favorites.

That is correct. :) That is one of my favorite comic book series. I so can't no to George Perez. His Wonder Woman is one of my all time favorites.

Seeing that picture you posted made me really, really want to reread that miniseries. And I can't. And I am sad.
Three of the four issues were POWs.

They are with the rest of my comics in a storage unit in another part of Brooklyn. The only thing I can reread easily are trades, which I have on shelves and in bookcases in my apartment.

Didn't they come out with a trade of it? Oh well. I cringe for the day I need a storage unit for my comics..

I think so. But I try to only buy trades of things I already have if they are special (over-sized hardcovers), or if the story is really, really important (Watchmen, DKR).

All I could find was this (http://www.amazon.com/JLA-Avengers-Collectors-Kurt-Busiek/dp/1401202071/sr=8-1/qid=1171924896/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-5354132-8967247?ie=UTF8&s=books) hardcover.

While not technically a Team-Up, Batman Beyond: The Call ranks up there for me too.
