The ingedient that was missing:
Off topic tangents.

It adds quality to the show and it also adds time to the final cut.
Not sure if it was due to Discovery being there though
because Alex was truckin away with the profanities.

I was at the taping (flew down from Seattle to see the city and such) and it definitely wasn't the best or longest show, but it was pretty fun just being there. The Beach Chalet is an awesome location (right near the beach at the west end of Golden Gate Park) but the place was completely packed. There was a band taking up the space in front of the fireplace, where they've shot it before, so I think they were kind of forced into that corner of the bar.

There wasn't much pre-drinking, they just arrived and started the show. The bar was so packed we couldn't really order them shots either -- a major ingredient to a good show. I had trouble enough keeping beer in hand. Seems like it was just a series of unfortunate circumstances, so hopefully they'll plan it out a little better next time around. Either way, I'd go again.

By the way, thanks to Kevin and Alex for tolerating my touristy BS and letting me take pictures with them... and giving us three t-shirts... and the pin... and the magazine. Awesome.

Yea, I think they are getting too popular to do live tapings in small locations or to not like reserve the whole place just for Diggnation. That might be part of the reason, before they'd have a bunch of people, but I don't think they had as many people flying in for it and such. Not to mention, they could have not told the bar was exactly was going on. So the bar had there normal band for the night, etc.

Man, I wish they talked about all the Carlos Mencia stuff on Digg. I know that none of the stories entered the top 10 for the week, but there were like 4-5 stories about the scandal and each had 5k diggs or more, together they took the week.

Was Alex abused by a Playstation as child or something? I've never seen a man hold so much hatred for an inanimate object before. He looks for every possible angle to make sure people know what a crappy machine it is, and what a godlike console the 360 is. And I agree, 360>PS3, but Jesus, Alex just can't let it go.

I think it's cause EVERYONE including him knew how good the PS2 was/is. So he's just making the point that Sony is doing soo badly and that no one should forget it.

Oh, and neither think that MS/Apple stuff is a gift from god or any crap like that. If either company put out a bad product that Kev/Alex tried we'd know about it. Hell, in one of the previous episodes Alex says something about how they got sent a Zune and then Kevin was trying to jump on that. It's clear that both like the products they have. About the iPhone stuff, I can somewhat understand. It's hard to be disappointed when you've been given promises about what will be delivered, but no actual hands on play time.
