In one of the early episodes of InDigital someone, I'm really not sure anymore who was talking about the micro laptop and how convenient it was that it fit right in your shoulder.

I'm trying to watch all the eps again so I can get the name and any info about it. But If anyone has the details that would be great. Are the reviews good or bad. Are they even still making the thing or did the product fall flat as soon as it was released? It seemed like a decent competitor to the VAIO SZ Series (I believe that is their smallest notebook) But hey if anyone out there has any other ideas I would gladly listen to them. Thanks for any response.

No, but good guess, it is in episode 2, the Panasonic r4 (http://www.dynamism.com/r4/main.shtml), Diane talks about it about 32 minutes in.

There is the R, W, T, Y models all core duo's so far. I'll check them out see if they are a good buy.

I wish it was the OQO. I'm on a two month wait list to get one, so it's something we'll be looking at in a future episode.

They tend to be pricey. Unfortunately the 15" notebooks sell best and volume means better prices. If you want really small and light...check out Fujitsu's P series. I haven't seen one in a while, but I used to love that notebook. If integrated optical isn't that important to you, Lenovo's X series (formerly IBM Thinkpad) is a tank...that's also a favorite. Personally, I didn't like the keyboard layout of the Panasonic R series...they have this thing about squishing the spacebar and the left ctrl/alt key that drove me nuts.

We definitely need to look at notebooks in the show...just haven't figured out how to do that without spewing specs...maybe another competition? Any ideas?

OQO - sub mini
Samsung Q1 - sub tablet / UMPC
<convertable laptop>
<notebook du jour> - mini or standard or desktop replacement

They each have a purpose, but who are those people? I travel - basically a week of each month on the road, living out of hotels, working in airport lounges and importantly on planes.

Where do these devices fit for the roadwarrior?

Oh man, that would be awesome. I really want a small light duty to take with me, I'm tired of all the bags I'm carrying when traveling, and there is no need for a "desktop replacement" laptop/notebook. Really not many people care about the small stuff anymore, with Asus doing a desktop vid card for notebooks, 20+ in. screens, oh and batteries blowing up cause we need longer charges...sadness. Seriously was about to go home and almost cried at the sheer volume of stuff. Just got a Xbox not too long ago and the bag, well lets just say at least I got everything in one bag...

Also Sharp Actius MM-20 (http://www.needthese.com/Froogle_SHARP_ELECTRONICS_PCMM20_87456.htm) or just Sharp MM20.

I love mine (I'm typing on it as we speak). Features:

- 1 GHz processor
- 512 MB RAM (not expandable)
- 100 baseT ethernet on board (no dongle)
- wireless 802.11b/g on-board
- 2 USB 2.0 ports
- 10.4 inch 1024x768 screen
- 72% keyboard, all keys but the arrow keys are in totally standard positions
- touchpad pointer

1.9 lbs with standard 2 hour battery
2.5 lbs with fat 9 hour battery ($200)
and it's waaaaaahfer thin.

Hahn: if you're considering reviewing it, I can sent you more info and/or photos.
