Was just brain storming on the 'ol IRC and came up with a few good tag lines for any blog to dry in and bring in new readers. Feel free to jack them from me and use them yourself:

JunkNews.Net Why the **** aren't you here?

JunkNews.Net If your not here you must be gay

JunkNews.Net ...yeah, we just ****ed the other guys

JunkNews.Net Yeah, where Dollar Menu Guys

JunkNews.Net We don't know our left from out right

JunkNews.Net Yeah... Where holdin'

JunkNews.Net Santa is our *****

That last one is for the holidays :P

What passes for humor in IRC often doesn't cut it in forums.

Using your instead of you're will drive readers away though.

Correct spelling/grammar isn't very important IMO. Don't get me wrong, it shouldn't be horrible but is nothing that a blogger should focus too much time on. There are some exceptions depending on what kind of blog it is.

I like how my good pal Nick (Oubipaws) put it:

"Blogging is not about checking your grammar 24/7, making sure everything is done in perfection, instead it’s about writing, having fun, and enjoying yourself as well as enjoying fellow bloggers. That does not mean to type in sentences and phrases people cannot understand, but instead to focus more on the overall idea of “blogging” instead of focusing all your time to be what is called perfect."

What about using you're when you should have used your.

What about using you're when you should have used your.Especially annoying if it is an aeronautical blog, and it should have been yaw.

I still don't "get" blogs. Sure, there are some popular ones out there - but they are using the blogging meme as a CMS platform, and they are content driven. Unfortunately most of the blogs clogging up the blogosphere are little more than online diaries.

"Today I ate at the cafeteria. Food was OK. Jenny thinks Candida is a biatch for dumping me. Here is something I found on YouTube.

<insert broken link>

LOL!!!!!!!11!11!!111!"

Yep. Blogs ... AOL for those that are "too cool" for AOL. Welcome to 1996.

...and what makes Oubi the high athority of all things blogging? Well now i'm saying that grammar is very much important. If you can't take the effort to write properly then that says you could care less about me, the reader. It's understandable that it's nothing too serious, but still, a little effort in your grammar is not too much to ask. Makes no sense arguing this though, watch as sites with proper grammar, or close enough to it, rise to the top as "you're" blogs just remain stagnant.

I have a photo-blog. It's just an interesting way to share picture with the dozen or so people I share pictures with. It's not meant for public consumption.

People who don't at least try to have decent grammar are usually not actually lazy even though they think they are..they are working hard on looking stupid.

Nothing, and I never said he was. I was just saying I agree with him. Oubi follows this idea on his own blog and I can tell you he is very successful. I talk to him alot due to us working on Kork together and I know how successful he is with his blog. Lets just say, he blogs for a living now....

Regardless, I don't think it's as important as you make it out to be. It has alot to do with the type of blog it is. Again, it shouldn't be ridiculous but it doesn't have to be perfect either.
