After a bunch of back and forth, great help from you guys, and a trip to SoCal...I've picked my place to move.

I dont have a job lined up yet, but I have had a couple phone interviews with a company that I like. The money looks good and I am ready to get out of this 35 degree weather!
I know things will be tight while I save money for travel stuff. Right now I am debating selling my car. I bought it almost a year ago, now I actually have a little bit of equity in it. I would just buy a new one out there, rather than drive. The girl Im going out there with has a BMW Z3, so Im thinking we just may ship it out there....$$$, so we will see.
Wish me luck. Ill keep you all updated!

Good call. San Diego is MUCH better than Sac. As a tech guy, SD is a great city ... especially with companies like Qualcomm and Nokia in town (can you guess I was focussed on telco software dev positions down there at the time?).
If you purchased the car recently, then you have already lost $$$ in the car. Check www.kbb.com (Kelley Blue Book) for the private sale value for your car. Weigh up if the loss you have made on the car is worth selling or shipping. Also consider that most SoCal cars are rust free - yours might develop rust problem later (from salting the roads), so if you ARE planning on selling, sell locally rather than shipping. You WILL need a car in SoCal, and finding a good deal on a car (plus rego, ins, and drivers licence, etc., and establishing a permanent address at a new location) could be a painful task you dont need when you are moving.

Oh, I will definately have a car out there. I just was thinking of selling mine, paying it off, and getting a sweet new one for the warm weather.
We have a 2006 HHR now. (camera phone)

Ha! She just brought me breakfast.....so I took a picture.
A big reason we want to move is the salt from the snow season and it being too cold to wash our cars every other week.

Hmm, I remember when cars were competly rusted out by the time they were 5-years old. Now a days, they don't use that much metal in car bodies and rust proofing has really improved. Cars are taking longer to rust.

I bought my VW new in 2000 just about seven years ago today. Seven NY winters and no body rust.

The good news is I only owe a little over $11,000 on it....It values a couple thousand dollars over that currently. I may just buy when I get there because Im sure CA laws are just as wacky and dealers have most of that stuff covered. Ill most likely sell it here.

Back in the early 90's we took radio terminal intended for EMT services and mounted them in forklift used to transport slabs of steel around a steel plant. The guys got their pickup orders in the cab, recorded when it was picked up, and recorded where it went/was placed. Inventory control and management was vastely improved.
With cellular broadband services now becoming nationwide - especially along the nations highway corridors - this is a great application. EVDO is great :)
