If I add a someone as a friend in my friends list on digg, will I appear on their list ? And also about getting a story to the front page; When ever I submit a story to digg, it shows up in the upcoming section. My question is, do enough users have to look at the article in the upcoming stories section, and digg it in order to get to the front page ?

You will show up in their, "People who befriended user" section, until they add you as a mutual friend.
For a story to get to the front page, it must be dugg by X amoun of users in X amount of time.

There's also the karma system that we talked about in a separate thread in the diggnation forum. You're votes aren't one to one outside of the number value. Good users votes mean more and shitty spammers who are blocked frequently in the comments mean less. It's innovative and intelligent to prevent gaming the system. There's your gist. A rough, sparse gist.
