There drinking 40s on Attack of the Show right now. I also heard on one episode they got most of their news from Digg.com.

Lots of the time they talk about the same stuff they talk about on Diggnation. It kinda angers me because I know someone at G4 must be stealing ideas.

Although I disagree with the they are stealing ideas. Seeing how Digg.com is all about linking to stories. And AOTS has said that they get most of their content from Digg.com and then proceeded to claim Kevin as "one of their own" (which he is not, he was a TSS guy, not the utter shit that is AOTS)

AOTS is a poser. They tried to convince everyone that AOTS and TSS are the same thing, but they are vastly different. Right now it seems that AOTS is just trying to stay alive. They have soo much shit in there that really only attracts stupid people that think they are cool or teenage kids that it's really sad. But all of G4 is like that. Hell, they now show cops, which doesn't relate to tech or games at all. They are just trying to stay afloat. I just wish they would die and die hard so that maybe a new tech channel could come about, and would know what not to do with the channel.

I think denying the association that Kevin Rose has with G4 and AOTS is probably unwarranted. Kevin Rose did work with those people for months before AOTS was launched and he probably was witness to the genesis of AOTS. It has often been remarked that TSS became AOTS long before the name was changed. If that is true, Kevin Rose had a front row seat. In any case, there are clearly genuine bonds between some of the production staff at AOTS and Kevin Rose. Kevin Rose has even described Kevin Periera as "his boy."

NO. AOTS right after the merger and even a little bit after the name of the channel fully switched over to G4 was similar to TSS. However, it is now a shit fest of crap. Seriously, go back and watch TSS back with Leo and Pat, then watch one of the shows that Alex was on (after merger) and then watch a recent episode. The recent ones are no where close to what AOTS was. It may have started as a name change, but it is way way way far from that now. It doesn't really matter if Kevin has some connections with the staff. We don't know how much pull they have, plus Kevin himself said he loves doing Rev3 because he can do what he wants. He doesn't have someone deciding what they are going to do for them. So don't think that because Kevin P (I hate him btw) is in tight with KRose means shit about how the show is run. Plus, Kevin and Alex have said that they hate G4. Yea, they have friends that work there, but they still hate the network.

TSS was Pat and Leo. No insults to Kevin Rose or any of the other host, but what they hosted was just not truly TSS. AOTS when it first started wasn't that bad. It has slowly involved into crap, but the beginning wasn't too bad. And dont' forget that Kevin Rose was there in the beginning.

Kevin P. and all the others on it now, read their lines off of a teleprompter. It's a job. As far as jobs go, it's kinda a neat and cool one.

Well i don't think it's just the tech tv fans that do it im a G4 forum's member and the G4 fan's do it too they are all over at the g4 forums. Neil tiles must of done a crap of no good now.

I'll keep my observations simple. Please read them carefully all and don't bother giving a reply. I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm trying to give a honest appraisal.

1. It is completely within reason that anyone from G4 or AOTS refer to Kevin Rose as "their own" because Kevin worked with them for months.

2. It has nothing to do with the pile of shit that G4 has become or how much AOTS is not TSS.

3. It has to do with familial bonds that some of the people there may feel toward Kevin because they shared office space. Nothing more.

As for getting their news from Digg, so what? Digg is just an aggregator, not a content generator. It's lazy as hell to just pull content for another show from Digg, but beyond that there's nothing wrong with their technique for sourcing stories.

It's not just that they get most of their news from Digg.com. They had Dr. Tiki on their show before, they mentioned "K Rose" as one of there own, it just seems after an episode of Diggnation airs, everything they talked about on Diggnation is mentioned in the following week on AOTS...

I will watch CFH, then I leave AOTS running in the background and I turn to it when they talk about tech or games. But most of the time it's just garbage and they do sound like Diggnation wannabe's. I always thought this, but I brought it up when they started drinking 40's like TheBroken/Diggnation.

PS I also sniff lots of the G4 staff in this thread for some unknown strange magical force reason.

If you were refering to people that work at the company you wouldn't refer to it by name... i.e. You'd say "denying the association that Kevin Rose has with people at G4 and AOTS." But you said just the association he has with G4 and AOTS, and because of that I completely thought you were talking about how he feels towards the network, not the friends he has that work there.

It was surreal and I wanted to share it. I think some ardent AOTS haters will be upset that the one time host comes back and is just a guest. I am by no means a AOTS hater, yet I found myself to be a little melancholy while watching it.

well i have to say Three things. 1 The Loop is one of AOTS's sometimes very techie segments. 2 Patrick Looked like he was having fun and that vista thing was not the only time patrick appeared on the loop He was on when they were talking about the Zune i have to find the video though. and finally three i agree that AOTS is posing but from what i have been noticing lately the whole channel (G4 ) has started to Be Geek Posers Because they have been losing viewers. They have dropped shows like Formula D and the Beth O Version of Filter. I think G4 will die because They are at a crossroads. They want to keep there old fan's the gamers and techies while trying to get there new viewers the Jock's, Arm chair quarterbacks, Perverts, and Gangstas.

You'd be surprised how many TechTV old timers are lurking in the wood pile. However, TechTV wasn't picked-up by my cable system until well after Kate left. I do remember Jessica Corbin with great fondness.

I have to agree, only somewhat differently. First it was was TSS, then after the merger they renamed it to AOTS, by this time the show lost a little bit of goodness, but was still very much like it was before the name change. Then for some reason they just started pulling out all the goodness and slamming in what they thought was pop culture stuff, i.e. sex and etc. That's when it turned to pure shit.

We do have G4 in Canada. It's called G4TechTV and it is on channel 250 on Rogers Digital. In fact the canadian channel still has Leo Laporte on Call For Help, and i believe Kevin Rose visited the show sometime last year. thats been my only exposure to Leo, i never saw him on the screen savers.

news needs to come from somewhere it is a good show.(not as good as diggnation of course) so you need to not think of it as ripping off diggnation but complimenting them in the mainstream broadcasting...
