You're looking for a pen tablet... Wacom makes some pretty good ones, but they are not cheap unless you go for the ones with a smaller working surface.

4" x 5" will run you from $60 USD on up.

4" x 5" will run you from $60 USD on up.Yep. The really nice one that Bert uses on Pixel Perfect is a Wacom ... and costs about $2500.

A lot of online comic people go "old school" and draw and do outline inking on real paper, then scan, cleanup linework, and colour online. If you go that route, you could get away with a good mouse, and a smaller wacom tablet. If you want to do it all online ... that starts to rack up the credit card bills.

Was it you and I that were drooling over the Cintiques in IRC? I looked on the Wacom website recently and it looks like they're coming up with less-expensive versions, but I want to know more about what they "cheaped out" on before I decide one of those might fit my budget better.

I mean, I've never even paid 2500 for a CAR.

there was a link on digg on all the centerfolds from 1954 through to 2003. It's really crazy to see body styles of what was considered beautiful ages back all the way through to almost today. There's a centerfold from 1986 miss June where the woman's is bigger than her upper torso.

i have spent way too much time doing literary analysis this year. deep reading any text leads you to the same universal conclusions if you go through enough layers. i was working on a theory that every piece of imagery in literature is symbolic for sex, but then i realized that during the Renaissance it was commonly believed that when you had sex you died a little with climax. so now i think everything is symbolic for death. i wonder what that says about me.

We have no hot water. I suspect our pipes froze last night.
Plenty of cold water - just no hot water ... Not that anyone will particularly care, but after leaving the taps on for 2 hours, we finally got hot water through the pipes.

I had been planning on doing some work in the garage anyway - getting it set up for a workshop (stained glass, and a little big of woodwork/home maintenance), and that was going to need me to run power to the other side of the garage anyway. I guess I just had that project stepped up the list a little. I wonder how hard it would be to add in a window for some natural light while I was doing this, it would REALLY help out for the stained glass work ... hmmm. The project just got bigger :)

Is the plural of mongoose

mongooses or mongeese? The plural form of mongoose is properly mongooses*. The common form mongeese is technically incorrect since the words goose and mongoose are linguistically unrelated. The word mongoose is derived from the Marathi word mangus.

Whoever wins. We lose.

Actually I think that if they were to fight it would end like Ron Silver in TimeCop. They would just turn into a ball of goo since one object cannot occupy the same space and time.

Not scientitician, but a Technician. Now, Im unemployed as of today... Aparently great things always come to an end... Great as in my job was half decent, had fun people with positive attitudes to work with, clean environment, cool bosses, but what the hey, the corporates decided I'm not needed, when in my view (being first hand) they were always behind, by up to 25-30 lots at times, usually 15 lots on average, and could have used another 3-5 people on the crew... When *MY* shift starts at 3, I'm going to call up and see whats up, see if my bosses can pull any strings for me, they liked me...

God, that sucked. That was in downtown San Jose. I'm not going to that rink again. Very pretty (http://www.sjdowntown.com/eve_eve_ice.html), but too crowded and too much slush on the ice Not to mention $14 to get in and no bathroom. If you leave to go to a bathroom, it's $14 to get back in. And no drinks allowed, no hot chocolate. And they wanted to take away the brownie I made for a friend. We stuck it in my purse. My usual place is the Winter Lodge (http://winterlodge.com/). Hot chocolate, fireplaces, prettiness. Plus Wednesday nights I have skating lessons (I'm going to get to do cool stuff soon, I think), and I really enjoy spending time with my friend Nick. He goes with me on Wednesdays.

i disagree with some previous statments made and if i dont let this out, ill probably explode:
i understand you have a point you want to make, and you have every right to, but it seems as if its become a matter of you being right and everyone else wrong.
klitzy is right in the fact that most of us really dont know each other to make judgements on each other... but all of these fathers ive met and talked to, in this awesome forum community, truly love their kids - and for you to judge someone on their parenting skills, based on the fact that they made a sarcastic comment against your pretentious and hypocritical statments, is offensive to me. you may be working with fathers who dont have visitation rights for their children, you may be working with orphans and parents who made the mistake of having unprotected sex, but it is not your place to come in here as an "expert" and tell people that you are right above all because you have more "experience" in an area. your opinions do not dictate how we think, and because we disagree with you doesnt give you the right to bash us.
as for your point about girls with fighting parents/not having one or the other parent, or biological fathers wanting visitation rights, i know what thats like. i grew up fine. i have an awesome mom who raised me right. im not a substance abuser, suicidal, or self-harming and im in no way a slut or a trouble maker. i got good grades in school and although i was never popular, i never wanted to be. it doesnt matter whether or not you have both of your parents. my bio-father wanted visitation rights... i didnt want to see the bastard. i now have an awesome dad who has also helped raise me. children grow up and learn to be functioning humans because of how you raise them.
dont preach to people how to make their own decisions or how to raise their children when you dont have any. im sorry that its not an option for you, but before you start telling people what to do, maybe you should adopt a child, be a parent and put yourself in the position to tell people how to raise their kids.

How can one idiot surround you?

And no, a discussion doesn't need to spill into other threads. If a topic is closed, it means end of discussion on the board. If it's open and there are no replies, it means that someone has lost interest and don't be bringing it up other places because that's not going to rekindle someone's interest, just piss that person off.

as for your point about girls with fighting parents/not having one or the other parent, or biological fathers wanting visitation rights, i know what thats like. i grew up fine. i have an awesome mom who raised me right. im not a substance abuser, suicidal, or self-harming and im in no way a slut or a trouble maker. i got good grades in school and although i was never popular, i never wanted to be. it doesnt matter whether or not you have both of your parents. my bio-father wanted visitation rights... i didnt want to see the bastard. i now have an awesome dad who has also helped raise me. children grow up and learn to be functioning humans because of how you raise them.
dont preach to people how to make their own decisions or how to raise their children when you dont have any. im sorry that its not an option for you, but before you start telling people what to do, maybe you should adopt a child, be a parent and put yourself in the position to tell people how to raise their kids.
Wow... i missed a ton yesterday! I'm agreeing 100% with Slowmy... but that's not to say that (in the diggnation thread) Aria didn't make some valid points. Its a part of life that a few tend to ruin things for the rest... it happens. I also think, Aria, that your hard work and experience does not accurately represent the majority. I know a lot of young men that have made mistakes and are being very responsible, and the courts haven't had to side with them because the young women they were with were mature enough to let that happen without getting the courts involved. That being said, I also think that you were being provoked by some immature people.

I do have to say, having been raised only by my mom (with the help of her sister and mother) Anyone that uses their childhood as an excuse is full of S hit. I am a firm believer that you can get over a "bad" childhood, as long as you survive it. Learn from what your parents (or whomever) maybe have not done perfectly, move on and enjoy the rest of your life...

I don't wanna give my life story. Suffice it to say, when I was ten, my mother went away to college and never came back. Until he remarried, my father raised the four of us alone and with absolutely no child support. My birth mother had no interest in custody, support or even seeing us more than once every three years. My father had no close relatives to help him, his parents has been dead for years and his only sister lived 700 miles away. My point, it's not just lousy dads that frac up the family situation. Thank god my step-mom who was willing to raise four brats that weren't her own. This is what real parentage is about.

I completely agree with you... there are dead beat mothers out there too for sure! But, because you didn't sit around going, "oh my mother didn't want me, I had a bad childhood!" you went out and made a life for yourself, and now you have a beautiful family that (I can tell) you love very much! So we have three success stories from broken homes... :)

Well, I don't look at my childhood home as "broken" but more or less "fixed". I think my step-mom raised us better than my own mother was capable of doing. The reasons are complected, but I'm sure we're better off the way it happened.

I agree with your sentiment. Give everyone a hug for me.

Thats odd. I havnt seen anything on the web like my idea, so if I can talk my friend into designing the web interface and everything for it, and me covering hosting, You will know more. It would involve a buy/sell/trade with yearly contests. the products are what I will not go into as thats what makes it unique. I can say, my idea for a yearly contest could be anything from a some apple product to a paid trip to a concert half way around the world., however, the catch to getting into the contest would be making some sort of transaction on the website, but each transaction would be an extra entry into it.

Damn Quebecoiss women are hot. Not drop dead, supermodel gourgeous, but a classical beauty - probably a combination of grooming (well dressed - Euro style) and attitude (and an accent ... gotta love the French accented English).

We had a mutual admiration going at the bar - they loved my accent and I loved theirs.

dude i live in a city with lots of quebecoiss women and classical beauty is not the world to describe them. I think striper hot or amateur porn star hot would be a more accurate description. For some reason they all love to dye their hair a strange red colour but it works for me.

www.woot.com They sell one thing at a time, but since they buy in large bulk you get a discount on that one item they are selling at the time.
