So rather than bring up everyone's profiles to find this out, it's be nice to have it all in one thread. So, what kind of work do you all do? I am an archaeologist/wetland delineator/cemetery researcher/surveyor for a private engineering company in SE Wisconsin. My training is in archaeology but the other stuff more or less involves most of the field and research methods of archaeology.
I'm a computer programmer who specializes in web applications

I work in university, while attending classes, to get my certification as an educator/teacher. If all goes well, this time next year I will be in a high school English classroom and teaching lessons on V for Vendetta or at least Maus.
here's an interesting twist on this:
do any of you have jobs that don't make you feel like a prostitute?
Do you actually enjoy what you do?
Have you figured out a way to make money doing something that you love?

I'm the team leader for a small inspection company that does quality assurance for one of the big three.
It's a boring and mundane job that any monkey off the street could do, but it pays well and I rarely get in trouble or have to do anything, so I'll stick around for a while.

Before I started working, I really thought everyone should passionately love their job. After about 6 years in the workforce, I think I’ve changed my tune. While I admire people who really love what they do, I’ve come to realize that I don’t necessarily think my self-worth and life fulfillment has to be tied up in my job. I worked for a Big 4 accounting firm for several years and though I found it challenging and such, I ultimately left b/c I didn’t have time for outside activities that I felt were more fulfilling to my life. So I took a job that, while it may not have the advancement or $$$ that my prior job had, it pays the bills and for the most part gives me a normal 40 hour week. While it isn’t always the most exciting thing, I wouldn’t trade it b/c it allows me the opportunity to do things outside of work that I’d like to do (which includes reading comics).

I'm a financial analyst for an agricultural chemical company. Always entertaining because sometimes I work directly with farmers which is very unusual for somebody with my background.
I am a Corporate Middle Manager for a Big National Retail Chain. We train and consult on new systems and applications. Despite the fact this sounds exactly like what nobody ever wants to be, I'm lucky that I mostly like what I do and where I work. I mean, a soul is overrated anyway.

I am the Sales Engineer for a software company that sells CRM solutions (think Salesforce.com style thing) for financial services (you know our clients, are probably either insured by them, or have their credit cards in your wallets). I know the tech, someone else does the numbers.
I don't mind my job, but its a place holder until my greencard comes through.
Best part is working from home on the east coast, while company is based on west coast. noone looking over my shoulder. My commute dropped form 40miles (one way) and 1-3 hours in LA to my current 40' (including heading down to the fridge for a drink before I start work).
Worst part is working from home. I never leave the office. I talk to people during the day, but see noone but my wife most days. I am a social person, and that gets depressing sometime (love my wife, but sometimes you need other conversations).
Tonight is going to be a late night finalising an RFP submission :(

I am a professor of Mathematics at a major metropolitan university. I love my job, but hate my 88 mile commute. However, I've scheduled my classes three days a week and work from home on the other days while my wife teaches classes at her college. I spend that time mostly with my two children.
I like to study Abstract Algebra and Algebraic Number Theory. I have side interests in Cryptography and Geometric Group Theory. However, I spend most of my time teaching people stuff that they should have learned in high school.

I work in the inexplicable field of Search Engine Optimization and Web Analytics. (I study your site's traffic and try to help you increase it. Okay, maybe it's a little explicable.) I have been doing it since the minute I got out of college, so long in Internet Years that I wouldn't feel dishonest saying my old company helped invent my industry. Which works out great for me, since otherwise I'd probably be teaching Russian at my high school and/or bagging groceries.
I also write, but I get paid for it too rarely to put it on my resume with a clear conscience.
I actually enjoy my job a lot most of the time; people value my opinion and generally leave me alone, other than urgent e-mail requests for their stats. Here's the thing, though: I am a non-drinker and was a pretty ardent, judgmental prick about it for many years of my youth... and now I work for a very large, St. Louis-based brewing concern. Karma? I couldn't say. I do know my friends enjoy me having this job very much, and not just because they get all my free beer. I should probably feel like a sell-out; I feel more like a spy behind enemy lines.

when we run out of those, i work as a media analyst/media monitor for the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade for the Government of Canada, hence all the free time to post...
My job requires 24hr monitoring of various news agencies/newswires in order to keep embassies, consulates and spokespeople abreast about up to the minute incidents involving Canadians abroad or important issues that would affect our country in general. Since its 24hrs i sometimes have to work from midnight until 8am and since very little goes on at that time, i spend a lot of time reading the posts on the forums!;)
i studied the media at university and am a news junkie so getting paid to watch it is a plus but the job is feast or famine, its great when there's lots of news but on boring days, it drags on...

My staff work in an open enclosure(we call it the Silverdome) that protects them from rain and snow, but SUCKS in the cold or extreme heat. Before I was given an office position, I used to work in the elements all the time. There was even a short period of time where we didn't have any protection. I ,not so fondly, remember working one night during a thunder storm and our scanning equipment wasn't water proof. The end result was that we had to write down the VINs by hand(17 characters x roughly 500 vehicles), in the rain on wet paper.

It's called "Corporate Trainer." That means I train Japanese employees of major multinationals how to communicate effectively with their boss/coworkers/clients/vendors, and not just English languge teaching--negociating skills, being proactive in meetings, giving presentations, cross cultural diplomatic speaking skills, the works. If you've ever heard of a company, I've probably been in their Tokyo office (think: Fortune 500 that have offices in Tokyo). Big pharma, heavy industry, banking and finance, IT, etc. etc. If you ever had to deal with a Japanese counterpart, and they drove you nutty with passive behavior, ambiguous one word answers, email that reads like 20 nouns in a row, and appearing to agree when not really agreeing, or just can't construct a proper sentence that is intelligible, I'm the one to fix that. 8+ years experience, a relative pro in the "biz" and how the hell did I get dug in this deep....
I teach "off site" mostly, that means I go to their offices, so lots of time on the trains everyday. I work nights and all day on weekends, when employees have time to take their courses HR bought them, so this explains why I visit this forum at this time depite the time zone.
In San Francisco, I was quite the artist. In Tokyo, I am quite the artist. In San Francisco, people knew my work. In Tokyo, all is isolated, this city too f***ing big. Pretty big plans cooking for a somewhat major artistic project to go on the net, details to follow? iFanboy and the forums are like a drug that both inspire my art and take my time away from it...
Otherwise I run whores and run protection rackets for the local office of the Inagawa-Kai in my spare time, but really a mole for the Yamaguchi-Gumi, and but that's just a front to secretly knock down evil doers. But keep that to yourself. Also, the black arts of dark magic when I have the time... Tokyo is all about being busy, busy, busy....

The only thing I love more than Jager straight is double Jager straight. Funny story, a few months ago the wife and I were out. I was quite predictably retarded. Cocktail waitress comes around and I order a jager. Now I'm already in really bad shape so she says: 'Are you sure?' Perfectly reasonable question, but in my state I took as a challenge to my manhood. You know, as anyone would've. So I said, 'yes and make it a double and make it two of them.' She comes back: 'That'll be 18.00'. I take a twenty out of my pocket put it on the table with my hand over it, do both the shots, and then lift my hand. She looks at me like 'what a douche' and then walks away. As soon as she walked away, I bolted for the bathroom. The night got really fuzzy after that.

Man, I love me some Jaeger. Every weekend (sometimes during the week, if possible), I get as much Jaeger as I can get my grubby, under-age hands on, and proceed to drink until the sun rises, and then I sleep until the sun sets. I don't care if it's straight up, with Dr. Pepper, Root Beer (surprisingly good), no coke, I hate coke (unless it's with J.D.), don't matter. Jaeger's the drink for me.

Immediately after graduating with a bachelors in Philosophy (big money, here I come!) I got accepted into the JET program and am currently teaching English to high school boys in Takasaki-shi. I love the work when I'm in the classroom, because these kids have a firm enough grasp of English that I get to learn a whole lot about them and Japanese culture on the whole. Plus, the opportunities for hilarity just never let up! A female student (at a school I visit) told me to die of skin cancer at the top of her lungs because she saw it in her phrase book! Plus, crazy drinking parties with the other teachers!
It sucks in certain areas, however, as I can't really relate to many of my co-workers (not just the language barrier, but more the "very serious unless we're drunk" barrier). In addition, I don't teach very many classes a week, so much of my day is grading papers (which I'm waaaaaay behind on), trying to learn more Japanese, and checking the forums.
All in all, I love it! I'm hopefully headed to China next year, so on to more adventure!
When I was 11.5, I wanted to be a Ninja Turtle.

For most of my time on that show, one of my jobs was to listen to the voicemails in the morning. And the instructions were to leave your name and phone number, and a producer would get back to you. That's all. It also instructed you to make sure you leave your area code. I would say about 30 % of the people would then leave their zip code and a 7 digit phone number.
Then there were the people who just started right in on their oozing members. Guh.
My personal favorite was the intolerance Drew had for the folks who called in and said, "I did meth for like 2 weeks straight and now nothing's working right, and I can't feel my penis." He basically came back with, "sucks to be you moron."
I was smoking crack and then I had sex with my girlfriend and my heart started racing, how can I avoid that in the future?

I remember seeing that at a dodgy party. She was suggesting various "devices" and I was waiting for her to say, "And everyone in the studio audience is getting one!"

Sex Talk with Sue Johanson -
http://www.talksexwithsue.com/index2.html
She's been around forever. We watched her when I was in college(which has been like 11 years now) on the Canadian Women's Channel. She's great, but I have to admit being slightly creeped out hearing a women in her late 60s talking about sex. I do remember one episode from years and years ago where she went into great detail on how to give great head....it's a visual I will never, ever forget.
I used to watch Sue Johanssen all the time because hearing an 80 year old woman say cock ring makes me laugh everytime. I'm childish like that.
She is OBSESSED with the cock ring. I don't get it. all the time with that

the lil' granny is into bondage?
not that I'm aware of. cock rings aren't necessarily bondage specific. They're usually rubber or plastic o-ring type things

I guess Google image search failed me. :(
On the other hand, I did see this $10 condom in the drug store that came with a vibrating ring. It warms the heart to see this sex-toys going mainstream.
while I can't believe this thread has actually gone here:
bondage style cock rings are more in the cock torture vein while normal cock rings(like the ones on Sex Talk) are just rings that strengthen your erection and orgasm(allegedly)
I'm on the computer a lot

Right now I 'm the Assistant Director of a group home for adults with schizophrenia, I like it but have been thinking about changing, because a man can only spend so much time having extended conversations with the mentally ill before it rubs off...
When I was 11 I wanted to be an actor.

The group home must almost seem normal compared to the world online.

LOL....Everything takes this bizarre turn where I start looking at the world as nothing being normal..
My day seriously has involved clients leaping out third floor windows and having lenghty discussions about the government listening to them...
Nothing online (or anyplace else) even phases me

The government IS listening to us!
The government IS listening to us!

Aluminum. Cracks me up everytime I hear a British person say it (and probably vice-versa). A-loo-min-ee-um.

"A-loo-min-ee-um." (did I get any chuckles?)
I work with many Brits, a few Scotts, Irish, Auzzies, Kiwi's, the works...I'm "like" the token American. Since I speak in full sentences that indicate a certain level of education, but don't have a British accent, I am frequently mistaken for Canadian...a British guy I work with likes to make fun of American slang by trying to dissect it from a syntactical perspecitive, which he claims he can never understand, so he get's people to explain it to him by doing demonstrations.... he's actually pretty funny.
"So should I just dispense with as many useful descriptive, modifying phrases as possible, while instead just using the same two or three ambiguous adjectives as possible in sentence fragments?"
"Awesome."
