Am I the only person in the world picking up Diggnation using a PSP? Can we have widescreen please?!?

I think you are in the minority with the PSP. That thing, especially the video and movie aspect, was a huge flop
Mine has been gathering dust for some time... although lately I've been thinking of wiping off the dust and hooking it into my car for some in car entertainment.. would be nice to pull down some vids through rss and working away.

Sure UMD sales have been bad, I haven't got any and don't intend to buy any. But why would you when you can buy a Neuros and record straight from DVD without decryption hassles. OK, I'm the only one of my friends, (and relatives) that has a PSP, but there are plenty of guys on the train that have them. It's a 45 minutes ride and when you're 'between games' as I am, it's great to use it for podcasts like Diggnation (when the RSS feed is working). I record Lost from my Freeview PVR (similar to Tivo) Without the ads, thats about 45mins too. Are they not so popular state-side? I can't see why not - I have a couple of albums, my fav photos, and of course the games! Sure it's not got the space an iPod has, but can you play Pro Evo Soccer or Lara Croft on an iPod?!?

I have one. Hardly use it. I've been putting more time on my DS Lite... that thing is awesome and the games are so much fun.

I have a PSP but I do not use it to watch Diggnation. I really should but as soon as I download Diggnation I watch it straight away, I dont have the self control to put it on my PSP and watch it at a later time.

If I had a PSP I would be using it to watch Diggnation aswell as anything else that it is capable of.
Right now the mobile web is just getting ready to reach a full boil. Grabbing high quality media will be much easier for anyone that has an enabled mobile device. Then you won't be a minority anymore JMorrison.

It's so easy too to add content. Make sure you have the latest PSP system software , currently 2.81. Then check out Sony's instructions for adding feeds:
www.playstation.com/manual/psp/rss/en/start.html
It's so simple.
Grimreeper, you don't need to hook up to a PC or Mac to download first, like you do for iPod. Download it straight on you PSP without even firing up your computer. All you need is a wireless network.
If you google 'how to add RSS to PSP', you get some old rubbish from engadget about having to use WipeOut as a web browser! It's all built in now.
I know loads of people are pissed off about homebrew not working with each system update, but with 2.81, you can play downloaded flash games. I have Mah jong, battleships, solitaire, fly plane etc. However I do feel silly on the tube when someone looks over my shoulder and sees I'm using the all singing all dancing PSP to play cards! I feel much better watching IPTV programmes and even better watching last night's late night movie (did I recommend getting a Neuros!?!).
I'm not forking out for a Location Free player though. I hear that'll be built in to PS3. How cool will that be? I'll be able to watch 'Match of The Day' in the bath, on holiday... abroad!

Honestly guys, the PSP is the way forward - it ticks all the boxes for me.

I use my PSP on a regular basis, but i travel alot. Not so much in the last month, i picked up a 360 and have been addicted. But i am going to Canada this month and right next to my iPod will be my PSP. I used it alot for podcasts pre-iPod but now with a 5g i use it only for gamming.

The video aspect is fine... things look nice and crisp. The problem is the miniscule amount of memory out of the box. They really should have gone with a mini hard drive rather than the memory stick duo... who wants to pay upwards of $200 US to add a measly 4GB? For a little more than that you can buy an iPod with 30GB.

You should checkout PimpStreamer. It lets you use video and audio rss. Need 1.5 though.

I love my PSP and I do stream the MP3, but not the m4v. There's no handheld that has even close to as nice a screen as the PSP. I still have version 2.6 and can downgrade when ever. I like the ability to use homebrew. I know I can use an emulator to have the appearance of running 2.8, but it's such a pain in the butt so I just leave it the way it is.
Personally I love the games that I have:
Daxter, Xmen Legends II, Twisted Metal, Ridge Racer, Field Commander and Syphon Filter. I have a 1 gig card and I find it more than enough personally. I love the fact that my PSP is so versatile. I know that this is exactly what a lot of people don't like, but that's ok, I'm not most people... I'm that 20 % of the population that they built the thing for.

Man, I had my PSP stolen about 3 months ago now and that's the #1 thing I miss about it, the RSS/podcatching via wifi. Especially when the firmware update (2.8?) included .mp4 iPod video support. I never had to plug my PSP into my PC unless I had to transfer files.
Seriously, I don't know why there's nothing out there in the mainstream market that does podcast downloading via wifi. Not having to sync with a PC to get daily podcasts is such a convenience. I was so spoiled when I had to shift over to an iPod from the PSP.
Sorry Zune, you're out of the game until Ballmer squirts you a firmware update enabling GOOD use of the wifi.

TPRime - wireless syncing is even BETTER now with firmware 3.x.
Now I can schedule daily sync and no matter if I'm at home or work, it connects to my WiFi networks and downloads all the podcasts I want. Diggnation have finally sorted got a link that works with PSP:

If you like Premier League football (English soccer), check out
http://podcast.timesonline.co.uk/rss/thegamepodcastmp3.rss - great entertainment.
With Xmas coming, I doubt I'll have much time for podcasts though - bring on LEGO Star Wars!

The only reason I don't bother subscribing to RSS on the PSP is the excruciating text entry. Is there a way to do it on the PC and migrate it over to the PSP automatically?

I can think of three ways:
1) You can edit the \PSP\SYSTEM\BROWSER\bookmarks.html file with the PSP connected in USB mode. Make a backup of it first, then use notepad or a simple text editor to add extra URLs. It didn't like being edited in MS Word. I think the line breaks may have been the issue. You'll need basic html savvy though.
2) Use tinyurl.com to generate the pages you want. Bookmark tinyurl.com and edit this bookmark with each new tinyurl alias. When you get to the page, bookmark it using its proper name, then you're free to edit the tinyurl bookmark with the next alias. Try http://tinyurl.com/y4gajz for the Diggnation podcast.
3) Sign up for a free account with http://www.pspwebbrowser.com/ On your homepage you can add URLs using the PC and then click on them from the PSP.

Cool.
TinyURL did enter my mind but even that's a hassle. The other options look plausible. I'll give those a try. Thanks

The pspbrowser site isn't letting me sign up for some reason. But what I did was to make use of the gigabytes of unused hosting space I have and put up one webpage with linkies I can click on, and rig up an autoupload of any updates to the page from the PC. Thanks for the pointer in the right direction, I just needed a push to try and make more use of the PSP.

what sony should do is release a umd burner and blank umd's :p make some more money off that... would be a shitload better for the future of buying old ps1 games online to play on psp... but eh whatever its all good and as for watching diggnation or anyother podcast on psp, its not really worth it unless your on the go somewhere but even then i would pull out my laptop and enjoy the bigger screen + some extras
