muffins and Kwok_talk,
Anberlin would be awesome. I met their PR people at the Wiltern last week while we were filming with Bleed the Dream. When I realized they were Amberlin PR, I remembered your comment in the forums and asked to set up an interview. I havn't got a definite answer if we can film a NotMTV video, but the interview is almost booked. When I know more, I'll let you know. We should make the questions for them through this forum.
...of course crediting your screen name to the band.
Yeahhhhh!

Lots of bands in all levels of music have PR. Indie bands have Indie labels. Does that make then not Indie? When does a band go from underground to mainstream? There's a thin line somewhere. With Anberlin's current popularity, they could certainly be in the mainstream. I guess the trick will be to talk to them and ask them questions in a not mainstream way.
...I especially like the idea of Anberlin because Rev3 fans asked for them.

I have friends in bands whose PR consists of, well, just other friends... let's face it, every band wants people to listen to them. Nothing wrong with that.

ANBERLIN have entered the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart at #19 by selling over 33,525 copies in one week of their much-anticipated CITIES album, available in regular and special editions. CITIES marks the group's third full-length offering and is the second highest CD debut for a Tooth & Nail artist.
ANBERLIN are set to make their late-night television debut when they perform “Godspeed”--the first single off CITIES--on the “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” Monday, March 5.
CITIES--the follow-up to their 2005 breakthrough album Never Take Friendship Personal which went on to sell over 140,000 copies--is already garnering major critical praise:
NEW YORK TIMES “…grand and rousing...” (2/19/07)
USA TODAY “…towering melodies.” (2/20/07)
BILLBOARD "Cities is a whirlwind tour through the world of driving rock act Anberlin, with producer Aaron Sprinkle again serving as the guide to the band's adrenaline-fueled endeavors of the heart. The sheer force of first single ‘Godspeed’ destroys the notion that a pop song can't kick some furious butt if it's recorded right.“ (2/20/07)
ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER “…quality craftsmanship. …make way for ‘Inevitable’: When you put softie hooks like that to a lyric like I want to be the last first kiss that you'll ever have,’ you end up with inescapable, last-a-lifetime stuff.” (2/23/07)
ANBERLIN’s nationwide headlining U.S. tour is off to a great start as eight of the first ten shows have sold out, including New York City’s Bowery Ballroom, Philadelphia’s Theatre of Living Arts, Washington, D.C.’s 9:30 Club, Charlotte's Tremont Music Hall, Boston’s Axis and Chicago’s Metro to name a few.
Their headlining run will hit Los Angeles Tuesday, March 13 at the El Rey Theatre and this year’s SXSW Festival in Austin Wednesday, March 14 for the Tooth & Nail Records Showcase at Spiro’s Amphitheater (outside).
In other news, this week, ANBERLIN streamed their new CITIES album in its entirety for fans on their MySpace page (www.myspace.com/anberlin), logging a massive 500,000 hits in just two days.
Meanwhile, the band has announced exciting offers for their fans to win a slew of prizes including an XBOX 360, a 30 GB Video iPod, a SONY PSP, a custom ANBERLIN Epiphone Guitar as well as a brand new 2007 Volkswagon Rabbit. Additional prizes include: Logitech, Vans shoes, Vestal watches, Truth drums and ANBERLIN vinyl, t-shirts, hooded sweatshirts and messenger bags. The contest began February 20, 2007 and ends August 31, 2007 at 9:00am PST. To enter using a computer, go to: http://www.anberlincities.com. Click on the “City Pass” icon which will take you to the contest entry page. Enter your unique “City Pass” code inside the CD and fill out the Internet entry form with your name, address, telephone number, email address, birth date, etc. For a full list of rules visit: www.anberlincities.com.
In March, look for ANBERLIN to be a featured artist on AOL Music’s “Sessions” program when the group will perform three acoustic songs on the show.

Tom, you should go create a NotMTV last.fm group and get people from here (or wherever) to join it. It will then compile weekly stats on what the members as a whole are listening to, and what the most common bands/songs are.
Might be a cool way to figure out new shows and stuff?
Or I might be full of crap :D Cuz I'm guessing a lot of us, whether or not we care to admit it, listen to a lot of mainstream crap hahaha.
