My favorite cover this week is from Daredevil #94. It's a wonderfully retro throw-back to the art of the 1960s.
What's your pick?

Reminds me of those old Roy Lichtenstein pop-art printings. (And who said that art history minor would be useless?)

Daredevil #94, no doubt.
DD #94 no question

You put your finger on it with Lichtenstein.

At first I thought it was hands down the new JACK OF FABLES, but after looking my stack over some more, I think it might be the new 100 BULLETS. It's a toss up between those two. Johnson and Jean are so good at what they do.

The cover I'd vote as most confusing is The Walking Dead #35.

That was mildly disturbing. Thank goodness no one I work with saw that when it popped up on my screen.

Haha. We've put such a burden on Fred to keep the discussions going. He's like the iFanboy version of Atlus.
I've been slacking. Had a phone conference with an idiot before that. At the end of the call, this actually came out of my mouth:
'That guy makes me feel more like a hooker than anyone alive. ****ing Philistine'

I thought THAT was your weekend occupation.
I thought THAT was your weekend occupation.
if it really were, it would make me feel less like a whore than doing work for that guy

Fear Agent has had consistently great cover art as well. They nail that vintage Sci-fi pulp style. Love it.

Awesome! Don’t take my comment too literally. I knew nothing about art prior to college and just tried out an art history class to fulfill requirement. I ended up really loving the subject and ended up taking several more classes during college.

Same here actually. I had a lot of cinema history classes from my time as a film major, and those counted. I almost did it by accident.

All the Alex Ross "Justice" covers are great.
The recent JSA covers are also very good.

Top vote has to be Daredevil but honorable mentions go to Batman Confidential and Flash.
Daredevil all the way. Honroable mention: X-Fator.
X-Factor was cool but it didn't happen and with the ending of the story as it was it never will

Yeah, Yeah, I am behind the curve, but Immortal Iron Fist #3's cover was what made me pick this one up and put it on my pull list, AFTER I had heard an entire interview with Matt Fraction months ago, and seen and heard other stuff hyping this book, none of which made me feel interested in picking it up -- it was the cover, Iron Fist just standing there.
When cover artists feel like they have to pour in tons ACTION and tons of CHARACTERS and tons of RAGE onto the cover to get attention, this was a nice, simple and well done cover. What I liked about it was his outfit and pose -- at ease, some tension well conveyed, simple, with elements that coveyed two things well: the old school mask, the new school belt. Background-dead battlefield, him still standing. Simple but says much, that's my vote.

about 70 away from 200, is that important? I'll match your post count of you two guys to my letter count anyday -- not that anybody reads them....

it's a very cool Iron Fist through the ages story too. You should check out the whole thing

Are you joking? (I'm asking Fred this?) I snapped that baby up and read it the first night and then tracked down the two previous issues (don't ask me how, something about a guy named Boris that works for Hydra, something that fell off a truck, and you know the rest...but keep that to yourself, just between you me and everyone else reading this...)
Because of that cover, Iron Fist is now on my pull list, if I can get some lousy service from the a**h*** that runs the comics "basement" of this toy shop here in Tokyo... I called today to put that and Daredevil on my pull list, and the guy was like "Oh, you can't put anything on your pull list or talk to the French guy who was the only one who gave you decent service here unless you come into the store in person...." (and actually give these jerks a chance to make some money).
F***ing A**h***. Support your local LCS, sure, but I'm thinking of starting a thread called "LCS horror stories, out the lousy bastards," as a way highlight the good ones ("include one good store for every horror story").
Anyway, Iron Fist is on my pull list... any cover I consider "best of" must result in a trip to the cash register and being read "in a flurry of excitement."
Iron Fist is always a highlight every month
