we actually talked about this last week in another thread whose name I can't remember. It's being relaunched as GA/Black Canary with a new creative team

Hopefully one that can make me care again. This was one of my favorite books four years ago, but I dropped it two years back.

I kid because I love. I've followed Winick since his Real World days. Did he ever marry that nice looking Asian doctor?

how is that relevant? you talk about how nobody wants to hear your real opinion, is it because your real opinion includes ridiculous non-sequitors like this one?

Whoa there cowboy. It was a joke. Winnick is know for his gay characters see, and he is quitting GL when GL marries a woman. See? Funny ha ha. Now if GL was marrying Speedy I bet Judd would stay on.

Geez!

It's obviously a very funny joke that went over our heads.

Wokka. Wokka. Wokka.

This thread made me think of those great Justice League Unlimited episodes where Green Arrow and Black Canary teamed up. There were at least two, one of them with Wildcat. I remember the animation being really strong on that one.

I'm sensing feuding. Settle down everyone. There's no point in baiting and bickering with each other. That's what Newsarama is for.

Yes, Judd married Pam by the way.

I wonder if they'll drop that whole mayor thing. You know, I feel bad for Scott McDaniel in this. He was finding his stride I thought.

Have they announced who the team will be on the relaunch?

Doesn't look like. Who do we think'd be good on it?

It's a different dynamic with a married couple.

Or is this just a way of easing the characters out of the limelight? We've got Red Arrow now, right?

I can see putting Roy in the JLA, but they spent all that effort bringing Ollie back...it just seems like a waste to shelf him like that. I can't believe the sales on the book are so low. Sucks. It's funny, I don't even buy it, but I don't like that it's ending. The character has too much history.

Same feeling made me pick up Firestorm again, i was going to drop in when moore leaves, but when i heard it was getting cancelled, i felt bad and picked it up... actually it was just as good as always, they even kept all the plot threads

To me it interesting that both GA and BC have undergone a power-up of sorts. Both have spent a lot of time getting more skillfull as fighters. I wonder who is better now BC or GA.

Green Arrow will end with #75, Winick said, adding that the very last page of the issue features Oliver Queen offering an engagement ring to Black Canary. With that issue, Winick said, he’ll be off the series and character.

Newsarama Note: In clarifying his comment, Winick later told Newsarama: " I'm done, and DC is as well, with the monthly book Green Arrow. I'm not done, and DC is not done with Green Arrow. And that's all I say."

Based on the last quote it looks like Winick might still be doing the Green Arrow writing, but not under that title (because it won't exist anymore). So, he could be doing the Green Arrow/Black Canary book.

This is where an audio recording of the interview or possibly a time machine might be helpful.

The initial statement was too broad. The second one, the direct quote, is the one to pay attention to.

If he's not done with Green Arrow, and he's not doing the Year One mini, it only makes sense that he'd be doing the GA/BC book. Unless he's talking about coming back to the character after some kind of hiatus.

What is it 40 some odd issues now? Pre-Infinite Crisis, I was not disappointed, Post-Infinited Crisis/OYL, its inconsistent. At least to me.

It's the OYL make-up of the team. The dynamics changed when Roy Harper (Arsenal/Red Arrow) left the team.

im happy that winick is leaving. i like his run early on, i only just recently dropped it. But i stuck on through some real shitty storylines mainly cause i enjoy the character. OYL has been particularly weak considering the story ideas. Making Ollie mayor was a very interesting concept, especially considering his far left opinions are what i like about him, but i wasn't used at all! i just think its time for someone else to take the reins.

im also weary of the whole GA/BC angle, i liked how womanizing ollie was and this takes away that part of him. ill be keeping a close eye on this book and depending on who they get to write it, i might pick GA up again, but other than that, ill probably wait to see what you guys think of it before i check it out.

Ollie and BC fall in love again. Ollie gets bored, can't keep it in his pants and has an affair. Ollie and BC get divorced. Un-happily ever after. It's predictable.

I'm so down for the year-one minis, and hope they won't be terrible.

GA/BC would be amazing- I love their dynamic together and this could be really awesome; how many married couples are doing the superhero thing together right now? It's an interesting angle at least.

Mostly I'm glad they're finally tying the knot after that whole Archer's Quest cocktease where he collected all that stuff for her ring and then couldn't because it "just wouldn't have been right". Honestly I loved that arc in all it's emotional pornography, but that pissed me off.

You can use that phrase to describe a lot of whats out there right now. Strangers in Paradise would certainly fit into that category as would the Walking Dead.

Before I read it, everyone kept telling me that TWD wasn't about zombies at all, it's much deeper than that. Not being much of a zombie person, I put off reading it for awhile. Finally picked it up not long ago and it's all about relationships. It's what Kirkman does. He just uses different trappings to tell very emotionally impactful stories. In the end, the trappings don't matter, it's the impact that the characters have emotionally that he's really trying to get across.

Talk about really going off topic.

My point about TWD and other comics, especially those written by Kirkman is that the emotional connections between the character is what he's really writing about, not somebody out there killing zombies. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, just pointing out that there are a lot of common examples of this in comics today.
