Some nuggets from the DC Nation Panel (http://www.newsarama.com/WonderCon/2007/DCNation.html):
* World War III event tied to 52 - “Black Adam versus everybody”
* Didio said of Isis: “I wouldn’t say she’s doomed, but there’s a lot more pain in Black Adam’s life before World War III.”
* Barry Allen not the flas in Countdown picture teaser
* The four issue Green Arrow Year One miniseries will begin in July
* There will also be a Black Canary miniseries
* Supergirl returns to "normal" time in WW III - Legion title to change AGAIN
* Issues #5 and #6 of All-Star Batman and Robin are done, with #5 being solicited. All-Star Superman is going ahead, and no more All-Star books will be launched without a couple of issues in the can, Didio said.
* The character of Chloe on Smallville to be pulled into DC continuity sometime next year
* Power Girl may get her own title
* New Metal Men miniseries planned
* Firestorm cannot be saved, a la Manhunter

* World War III event tied to 52 - “Black Adam versus everybody”>>>
I hope they don/t get rid of Black Adam entirely. I think he works as a sort of anti hero/Dr Doom of the DCU.
* Didio said of Isis: “I wouldn’t say she’s doomed, but there’s a lot more pain in Black Adam’s life before World War III.”>>>
I wonder what the "Girl in the Refrigerator" crowd will say about that.
* Barry Allen not the Flash in Countdown picture teaser>>>
Too bad, I was looking forward to Barry replacing Bart replacing Wally replacing Barry replacing Jay.
* The four issue Green Arrow Year One miniseries will begin in July>>>
Miller did the best "Year One" with Batman, the rest have been pale imitations.
* Super-girl returns to "normal" time in WW III - Legion title to change AGAIN>.>
Isn't she already in "normal time" in her own series with the Outsiders and Power Boy?
* Power Girl may get her own title>>>
I'm sure she will eventually. I think she works better in a team setting with the JSA.
* New Metal Men miniseries planned>>>
I've always kinda liked them but they have been destroyed so many times that I don't see how the writers can generate any drama.
wow, that's certainly news
Yeah, a pretty pleasant surprise...now let's see who's scribin'

I vote for Phyllis Diller
or zsazsa's husband - Prince Doucheheimer

More news from DC Nation panel (http://www.comicon.com/pulse/) at WonderCon:
* Roy Harper will retain the Red Arrow name in Brad Meltzer's JLA.
* The Batman in the Countdown promo image is not Batman's son, Damian, but there is a tie to it somehow.
* Stephanie Brown won't get a memorial in the Batcave like Jason Todd received stated Didio.
* All of the members on the panel did say that they are addressing Superman's continuity issues.
* There is a possibility of Jason Todd and Cassandra Cain working with some heroes covertly.
* Donna Troy will be a big player in Countdown and she'll be on a team of sorts due to her involvement in Countdown.
* The final installment of Allan Heinberg's "Who is Wonder Woman?" story will be published either in a special or an annual according to Idelson.
* Look for the Monitors to appear in Countdown.
* The current Birds of Prey lineup is not the final set lineup.

Phil Jimenez?! I might have to add that book... Damn it! I said I wasn't gonna add any more titles to my pull list.

Good, I like that name better than Speedy or Arsenal.
* Stephanie Brown won't get a memorial in the Batcave like Jason Todd received stated Didio.>>>
Yes she will, I don't care what Didio says. Eventually we will see some sort of memorial in the cave to her someday.
* All of the members on the panel did say that they are addressing Superman's continuity issues.>>>
"Help us John Byrne, you're our only hope." By the way is anyone here a member of the Byrne board?
* The final installment of Allan Heinberg's "Who is Wonder Woman?" story will be published either in a special or an annual according to Idelson.>>>
What a pathetic face saving attempt. DC should be ashamed.
* Look for the Monitors to appear in Countdown.>>
They have me curious.
* The current Birds of Prey lineup is not the final set lineup.[/QUOTE]
Duh, the BOP will never have a final set line-up. They never have. Its Barbara and whoever she can rope in. That's what makes it great.

They probably went back in time to ask Hemingway how to fix Amazing Spider-man...
...just moments before he shot himself.
that was initially the original plot of the movie Heathers

I honestly don't understand Didio's rationale for not giving Stephanie a memorial, when Jason still has one and is no longer dead. Sending the message that the female Robin doesn't matter just makes me go ugh and wonder why DC still gets my money.
Then again, maybe it's so there won't be another case to get smashed every three issues; I'm sure Alfred is getting sick of sweeping up glass and frilly Robin shorts.

thats the thing, i think it would almost be better to just end it there. i remember really enjoying the morrison new x-men run and then they went and spoiled it by having chuck austen write the last two issues (i know it changed back to adjectiveless x-men, but those last 2 were still "New X-men" and it just seemed wrong)
here's hoping they get a good team...
theres a question for you guys---
who should follow whedon and cassaday on astonishing?
i vote bendis and bagley, why? meh...

We must never speak of Chuck Austen on these forums.
Bendis isn't a very good fit and bagley is way too timely.

That actually reminds me of something funny. Today, I read an updated spoof internet glossary
this was the entry for LOL:
lol: Let's orgasm, lover. A pedophile has initiated contact with your child. For their own safety, disconnect your computer from the internet and lock your son or daughter in a large safe. HELPFUL PARENTING TIP- Ensure that no pedophiles are lurking in the safe when you lock your child inside, or else you may be causing your son or daughter more harm than good!!
