This thread is the TV equivalent of the Movie News thread. It's for general news about our favorite shows that don't have their own individual threads.

SMALLVILLE

Two more seasons, that's it -- or so producer Al Gough told TV with MeeVee. "We all feel we have, legitimately, a good two more seasons worth of stories," Gough said. "Then I think it's time to pack it up to the fortress and go home."

CBR The Comic Reel:

HEROES

Speaking of the hit network series, creator Tim Kring is quoted at Sci Fi Wire as saying this season will close Volume One of the story, with new characters and storylines for next season, noted as Volume Two. "Volume One comes to a conclusion at the end of episode 23, and Volume Two starts with the opening of season two. And Volume Two is a different story. We could have new people and new storylines and new ideas and new threats and new bad guys and new heroes. So I would prepare the audience for that idea, that it's not just a continuing serialized storyline about only these people. It's a little more the '24' model than the 'Lost' model."

_______

Looks like no more Hiro after this season.

Lynda Carter, aka Wonder Woman (http://www.buddytv.com/articles/smallville/lynda-carter-guest-stars-on-sm-4440.aspx), will make a guest appearance on Smallville, April 7, on an episode call "Progeny."

When are they going to get Dean Cain (Lois and Clark) to guest star?

30 rock is my fave show right now. Did anyone watch last weeks episode? LL coll Jay telling his goon to Go get his nose back had my laughing. I still giggle thinking about it.

Very interesting. Keeps the show from being mired in continuity while still retaining a "brand." It's risky, but they've got at least one viewer interested.

They'd be crazy not to bring back Hiro in some way. They could play around with cameos, and even bring the popular season 1 characters into the fold later in the game when the new story's been established.

They really ought to take their ideas, filter out all the filler episodes, and do one really solid final season. When the show is good, it's pretty cool. When it's not good, it's Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 1 monster-of-the-week awful.

Ok I am serious now. If you have HBO then the one show you must watch is "Rome." Go and buy the first season as well.

I am a history buff so that makes me biased but I swear this is the best show ever.

Has anyone else seen this. Does anyone esle want to talk about it. Please, I ask for so little.

Rome is one of the best shows ever made for TV - cable or no. If you like blood, gore, sex, violence, polytheism and Roman history, this is the show for you. This really is "must see TV."

You had me at sex and polytheism.

I watch it via Netflix. I give it the standard Roman thumbs up. I will not pay close to 70 bucks for the 12 episode first season however.

Did you see the new kid they have playing Octavious. He is a bit older.

I love the costumes. I love the attention to detail. I love the care and historical accuracy of the story.

I love the way the show has captured the people's attitudes toward life, death, sex, honor and religion. Its so differatn from the way we look at thigns today.

In many ways the show reminds me of Deadwood. No romantic version of the past here just the raw reality or pretty close I think.

I don't teach that period anymore but every episode reminds of of the books I read in college.

If not for its graphic nature this show could be used to teach Roman history.

This reminds me. I'm so excited about "300."

This kind of cast/story-line change makes me nervous for Heroes. It is a risky move. Could work, but it could also be a disaster. In addition to Hiro, I think Claire would also need to return. They are both connected to the core story - especially after the big reveal about Hiro's dad and "the company."

Definitely. As a casual viewer of the show (I'll buy it on DVD and get more into it) the stuff with Claire is the plotline I care about. It's the most cohesive, and the characters are actually interesting. I couldn't care less about Ali Larter's character.

ROME= All kinds of awesomeness
my roommates and i are all about roman history and it seems like this show is made for us

does anyone watch dexter? we had this show ON DEMAND and i ended up watching it over like 2 days, by far the best new show ive seen (heroes is fun because its superpowers, but really... its popcorn...)

im a little upset they cancelled studio 60, the show was so amazing during the first couple of episodes, but you could tell they were trying to retool it with the newer ones, trying to find an audience. they should have just stuck with the whole "freedom of speech" theme they began with

A cop serial killer who only kills other killers. But he does it with surgical precision and of course he is crazy as a bed bug and brilliant.

Its the guy from Six Feet Under.

Dexter works as a bloodsplatter analyst for the miami police, he also kills people in his spare time. He was adopted at a young age by a police detective who quickly identified his tendencies, instead of commiting him, he instill a moral barometer on dexter. He teaches him to kill only those worth killing, so dexter uses his inside knowledge from the miami pd to hunt down these people and kill them in typical serial killer fashion. there is also a subplot involving the investigation of another serial killer that has a mysterious connection to dexter, leaving hints specifically for him. this is the carried on throughout the entire 1st season and is resolved in the season finale

One of my guilty pleasures is "The L Word." Granted - it's not a sterotypical fanboy show.

I'm going back a ways, but if we're opening this up to best shows on a premium channel...

Anybody watch Dead Like Me? I caught it after it'd already been cancelled, but damn if that's not a great little show.

"Dead Like Me" was a great show. It was one of the few shows I could tolerate Mandy Patankin in.
