Time to give a shout out to all the superherines whom we have admired over the years. Please share your favorite(s) and why. Wikipedia has a nice list (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_superheroines) if you need to refresh your memory.

My personal favorite is Babara Gordon as Batgirl (always thought it should have been Batwoman). I'm a pushover for redheads (I fell in love with Yvonne Craig from the 1960s Batman series as Batgirl). On the serious side, I like her because she's smart and self-reliant. She hung with the big boys and was never intimidated. She is one of the few people who can go toe-to-toe with Batman. And while I wish Barbara Gordon would someday return to the role of Batgirl, I love her as Oracle. She took her disability and made it a strength.

Gotta go with Kitty Pryde. Not only is she a great all-around character, but her power can be used in so many creative ways, both in combat and comedy.

My favorite female superhero is the Wasp, Janet Van Dyne. I have been reading every Avengers book I could find since 1987. Growing up with a Mother and Sister who choose or find themselves in abusive relationships has given her realistic characteristics that echo the real women in my life. Everything about her, including her super power is a direct result of the decisions good or bad that she has made.
Sadly I'm so shallow I often judge my fave's by the artist rendering them.
Ex. I loved Jim Lee's Psylocke.
ANd Amanda COnners Power Girl.
But realistically I'll go with Jessica Jones Alias era. Strong, complicated, well written. Awesome.

I wondered how long it would take for Jessica Jones to come up.
I'd go with Barbara Gordon, Kitty Pride, Storm, and Gert from Runaways
it's tough though I feel like I'm forgetting vital characters

Why these women?
Why these women?
Barbara Gordon - I've enjoyed a lot in stories she's been in
Kitty Pride - wicked awesome. She's great. She has this awesome strength/vulnerability thing that I love
Storm - I've always been fascinated by. Not even really sure why.
Gert-was an awesome character that I still miss. She was smart and funny and kicked some ass too.
Jessica Jones - was awesome. It was everything, from her past she was trying to avoid to the future she was trying to build. She's probably my favorite of the 5.
I wondered how long it would take for Jessica Jones to come up.
Nice, guess she had to come up eventually, I'm glad I got to her first.
In your face everyone!!! ;)
might've gotten to Jessica Jones first but you still live in canada;)

Wonder Woman! Hands down. I remember watching Lynda Carter playing her lasso, dark hair and all. Yeah, I remember seeing Firestar (another fave) on Spider-Man and Friends but she had red hair. I wanted to see someone with dark hair and Lynda Carter made my day. I rember begging my mom for her toy when I saw it as Toys R Us. It had a little lasso and everything. When I started collecting comics, a friend of mine lent me his George Perez Wonder Woman issues and loved it. When I started collecting, Phil Jimenez was drawing it and the rest is history.
Emma Frost is another one I have a soft spot for. #116 made me fall in love with her.
Jean: What makes you such a ***** Emma?
Emma: Breeding darling. Top class breeding.
Kitty Pryde is another favorite. Loved her in The Dark Phoenix Saga.
Recent favorites are Spider-Woman and Ms. Marvel.
There's Mary Jane as well. (does she count?)

Atom Eve. If for nothing else than her name.
Black Canary. 'Cause she can put up with Ollie.
Huntress. Loved her appearances in Morrisons JLA.
Oracle. Same reason
Psylocke. 'Cause she's hot when Lee draws her.
DKR's Robin. I don't even need a reason for that one.

Man it's been fun reading everyone's lists. Here's mine.
-Molly (Runaways) - Gotta love someone who can level Wolverine and need a nap afterwards
-Susie (Calvin & Hobbes) - The perfect foil to Calvin. And yet you knew they kind of liked each other and just treated each other like jerks b/c that's how kids act
-Kitty Pryde - I've only really taken a liking to her under Whedon's writing. He's really done a great job in making her a vital character
-Willow (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) - I'm guessing she's allowed since Whedon's doing the comic. My fav Willow-era is when they were still in high school and she was just cute and shy before she got all weird and evil in college
-Aunt Rose (Bone) - Because she could beat up the rat creatures
-Psylocke (Jim Lee-era) - Because I was an adolescent teen at that time

Favorite female character (and fave X-Man period) is Psylocke. I loved Jim Lee's take on her and the whole psychic ninja British - Japanese angle... she kicked almost as much as Wolvie whenever they teamed up...
and she's sexy.

Jenny Sparks from the Authority (and Stormwatch)
I have an irrational love for Jenny Sparks. The Authority really lost something when she left the book.

I forgot about Batgirl. I loved Yvonne Craig. And what about Julie Newmar as Catwoman. Shoot what's the name of the other woman who played Catwoman.
Julie Newmar, Eartha Kitt, and Lee Meriwether (in the movie).

Atom Eve is a great one.
Gotta add Zatanna, Jubilee (oh shut up, you love her too), Lois Lane (if she's not super, I don't know who is) Photon (Nextwave version, of course) and Spider-Woman (Julia Carpenter style).
But the #1?
Molly Hayes, of Runaways fame. The other ladies got some love already, but who beats the 12 year old who punched Wolverine out of a church and eats Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs? No one, that's who.
What trade did Molly do that in?

It was in the Escape to New York arc. Volume 5 in digests, 2 in the HCs.

Emma Frost is another one I have a soft spot for. #116 made me fall in love with her.
Jean: What makes you such a ***** Emma?
Emma: Breeding darling. Top class breeding.
I can honestly say I like Emma myself. One of my favs from here was Generation x(well in the beginning of the series)

I mean in this issue she swift kicked Leech in the head, knocking him out cold so she could get her powers. I think the series rocked until after issue 25.
My other fav was and always will be Rogue, i like bad if you can't tell. I also like a majority of the ex-villians. Huh,what does that say about me.

Oh geez. I remember her. I picked up issue #1 back when I thought comics would be worth something in the future. She's allowed to join the Avengers once the value of her comic is above what I paid for it.
it's not her fault mavel hasn't done anything with her character.
i think with all the civilwar stuff going on it would be a good time to reintroduce her.
Thanks, I'm not quite to that Digeest yet
It's not a spoiler if the trade came out almost a year ago

Ooooh ooooh and Dr. Girlfriend.
Great call. That's gotta be one of the funniest shows on TV. Doesn't get nearly enough credit. (Venture Bros, in case you weren't hip to the show he was referring too)
You ever notice how if you look at a word to much it looks like it's spelled wrong? Referring. Referring. Referring. Referring. Anyone...? Bueller?

What about Renee Montoya? She's always well written and while she doesn't have any powers she still kicks ass.
Messing around with Two-Face, Intergang and all those crazies running around Gotham takes some nerve.
