Since we've been coming up with dream-team rosters, let's do one for the Initiative team for our own states.
Virginia claims the following as their own superhero team:
Daredevil
Nick Fury
Winter Soldier
She-Hulk
Scarlet Witch (pre-mental breakdown)

If Darkhawk can make to meetings for the West Coast Avengers, he can commute to Western PA. Nova you can have and with all that Nova Corp power he should be all you need. Darkhawk is the leader of our team. We need him. There is a Secret Empire base in the region and my squad is going to flush them out.

That's great. A little Molly goes a long way.
I had a City of Heroes character called "the Spirit of St. Louis" with little arches on his head that was tailor-made for this situation.

Can honestly say as a guy from VA,thank god we have a good team in the intiative. By the way can you send Winter Soldier down here to Hampton Roads, it think he straighten it out round here. :D

I'm just joking. It is connected to a really funny story though. I was traveling through Richmond on I-95 a few years ago and I needed gas. It was 4AM. The VA section of I-95(at least at that time) didn't have gas stations. So, I saw a sign for Richmond and I thought - hey there's a large city I've heard of. I'll stop there. I got lost for 2 hours in downtown Richmond from 4-6 in the morning. I've never expected to die more in my life than I did that morning. I traveled through some weird-ass sketchy neighborhoods. I drove down many blocks where the number of people riding bicycles down the middle of the street outnumbered the cars.
I'm sure it's not all like that - just my story.

Sorry iSteve I spent a couple of weeks working the VIginia St. Fair there at the scummiest Hotel I've ever seen, literally a foot of sludge on the pool, roaches all over the room (both kinds) Some guy banged on my door at 4 am and offered me Crack. THEN the drive through wouldn't let me drive my truck through and wouldn't let me walk up to the window, I WAS STARVING.
Although I did hit a comic shop which recommended Queen and COuntry, and I picked up Seth's "It's a good life if you don't weaken" (which is great).
SO the only positive was the comic store, all in all a bad trip.
Before throwing this in I had to verify this with my wife. Her uncles were on vacation and stopped off in VA for the night and to second CAM!'s story someone knocked on their door and offered them hookers. I swear I'm not making it up.
And it's just good-natured ribbing iSteve- look at the brightside - I got out - alive. I so didn't see that coming. After an hour my wife began to cry. We laugh about it now, but it WAS NOT FUNNY then.

Next time you stop by the "Gateway to the South," give me a call and either stay at my place or at least let me book your hotel. There's a nice Holiday Inn Express nearby where I am certain you won't be offered either drugs or prostitutes. It even has a new Cracker Barrel restaurant across the street. Yuuuummmm-yuuuummmmm.

1)Ice Man (he's from Boston in the movies, I feel like he should be in it)
2)The Black Knight (also from Mass)
3)Siryn/Banshee (to represent the HUGE Irish population in Boston)
4)Iron Fist (calling him now, I don't care that he isn't from Boston)
5)"Old Ironsides" (created by Stark to represent Boston, and I know he doesn't exist)
that's my two cents, more Bostonians need to get in on this
I've only been to Cracker Barrell once and I remember it being a really awkard lunch with my dad. I cannot recall the food

Don't tell my wife, but I've been cheating on her with Steak 'n' Shake for several years. Actually, Steak 'n' Shake and I were pretty hot 'n' heavy back in high school.
I think my favorite part of this thread is the surprise undercurrent of hostility towards Virginia that has been unearthed. My high school sweetheart went to UVA and long-distance dumped me, so I've never even been there and it bugs me.

They are excavating Blackbeard's ship - so I guess we get a real life villain (Blackbeard was pardoned and lived in Bath, NC).

Yeah, but at least I have level heads like Toxin, a symbiote, there to keep him in line.
I'd actually buy a book about this team. It's like Omega Flight meets Fresh Prince.

One team might be fine for some states, but it is never going to work in those areas with larger populations.
However...
The Western PA team is already being shopped around to other states because they can't get funding for a new base. Without the proper facilities they can't be expected to defend our sports teams, the baby elephant at the zoo, and our yet to be built casinos. At the moment they are using one of the oldest superhero headquarters in the country. It is an old Nightstalkers base that was retro-fitted by Six Pack not too long ago, but by now it is obsolete.

That's ok. My team just demolished a perfectly good headquarters to construct one that's poorly designed with poor access to bathrooms and monitor displays, while creating a safety risk when walking to the jet hanger. Plus, Luke Cage isn't allowed to eat Cheese Steaks in the base anymore.

Actually, Virginia is a very diverse state. There's Northern Virginia, which is urban/suburban and very multicultural in population. There are the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of Western Virginia. The Appalachian region of South West VA. The beaches and the Chesapeake Bay of Eastern VA. The rural farmlands of Southern VA. It really is a beautiful place to live. There's even great beauty in and around Richmond, which I'm sorry you weren't able to experience.
I've heard that all. I pick on it cause I thought I'd die there. That was, in fairness though, my only trip through there and both times we did the whole state at night so I didn't even really see it. Maryland, I really liked that one.

Over here there is a brand new state of the art headquarters. Similarly no outside food or drink is allowed on the premises. The heroes are not allowed to brownbag it. The have to eat in the cafeteria or at one of the neighboring bar&grills. Every seat in the place offers an amazing view of super villain threats to the city. Parking in the motor pool isn't too bad, plenty of room for Quinjets and Blackbirds. Easy access to the rivers lead to the team getting three Sea wolf class attack submarines. A near by bridge was remained the Toro Bridge after the WW2 superhero. Most recently it was host to the Superhero All Star Assembly. It is shame that the team occupying the headquarters is the Great Lakes Avengers.

I guess I'm the only one that would like to see how Spider-Man would fare in New Mexico or some other place without tall buildings to swing from. I guess he would have to get around on that motorcycle I always see in the toy section.

Deadpool (BUT NOT CABLE!) - Why? He could totally do a lounge act on the strip. I'd pay money to see him.
Longshot - Why? Because I would like to hang around him when he's screwhing things up at the craps table.
Dazzler - She can replace Celine Dion at Caesar's.
The Hulk - He owes us.
Vegas - I think this is self explanitory.
Reno and Northern Nevada can have Squirrel Girl. Who cares about them, anyways.
