Why did you make a new thread instead of posting it in one of your other 2? If you want to take a screen capture of your desktop you just need to push "apple, shift, 3" and it will take a screen shot. Here is mine! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/punkrockguy23/Desktop.jpg

Looks like a new mac users desktop. I mean come on, MSN, YIM? Just use adium. And the official BT client, its total crap. Xtorrent works great for that, or Bitrocket.

Wrong, my first computer was an Apple II, and I have been using Macs for all my life. And Adium Doesn't really work well on MSN, but its fixed now.

Awesome photoshopped image by me behind some vacation photos with PhotoDesktop. Except for that tower; I made that for a competition in March. Oh, and the glacier. I live in Alaska so it was technically a friend's vacation, not mine. But as for Cap D'Erquy and the Eiffel Tower, yeah: vacation photos.
And really the dock's just for awesome factor. S'all about Quicksilver.

For the record, just because he's running OS X on "unauthorized" hardware doesn't necessarily mean he pirated anything. Modifying existing x86 OS X installation media isn't difficult.

To move the icon is your menu bar around, hold down the apple key and drag them where you want
You can't move the Spotlight icon, but everything else should move freely

@ Torrey: Candybar is used to change icons, and Pixadex can catalog them. (you can also just Right Click > Get Info on an icon, and copy it to another). Shapeshifter is normally used to apply .guikits to the system. Somethemes have installers so you don't have to use it, however. MacThemes is a good place for icons and themes.

You can also get any widget on the dashboard by typing:
defaults write com.apple.dashboard devmode YES
in the terminal then:- killall Dock and just press F12 and hold any widget using the mouse and press F12 again the widget should stay on your desktop and you can drag it like in dashboard.

Those widgets at Stattoo and I used Dock Dodger to remove the icon from my dock. The only problem is to change its options when its not in the dock you have to put it back in the dock (also with DD) then restart the computer for it to reappear.

i just downloaded it. i love it. the interface is beautiful..does it have a video chat option? because if it does i can't find it. it seems to be the only drawback
When Pidgin/libpurple gets video chat, Adium will get it as well. Or at least shortly afterwards. Apparently shortly before GAIM became Pidgen, two seperate groups had made incomplete video support. Supposedly they have merged the effort and are moving forward.

How do you guys get the really cool laptop icons for your HD?? Is it with a free program?:)
For the HD icons themselves (they can be used for anything really though):
You can download the pack here and pick out the computer that you have:
http://interfacelift.com/dl/icons-mac/1867_macbook.zip
To change an item's icon to another one:
Select the volume, application, folder, or file whose icon you want to stamp onto another, just click the icon to select it.
From the File menu, choose Get Info or press Command-I to open the Info window.
Click the icon in the upper-left corner of the Info window to select it.
From the Edit menu, choose Copy or press Command-C.http://a248.e.akamai.net/7/248/51/3047351166649975/www******.apple.com/images/kbase/mac101/Mac03_Icon_02_Photo.jpg
6. Select the volume, application, folder, or file whose icon you want to replace.
7. From the File menu, choose Get Info or press Command-I.
8. Click the icon in the upper-left corner.
9. From the Edit menu, choose Paste or press Command-V to replace the icon.

Just in case, is there a way to bring back the default icon?
chevmalfet

Default icons should return by simply deleting the pasted in icon. I haven't used CandyBar or whatever for icon replacement so I'm not certain it uses the same mechanism, but that's been MacOS behaviour from time immemorial.

Here's mine, running 10.5.2. Nothing special really. I just have Displaperture (http://www.manytricks.com/displaperture/) running to give Leopard's menu bar Tiger-esque rounded corners, menu bar transparency turned off, 2D Dock modified to remove the thick white border, and, although you can't see it, custom scroll bars (http://macthemes2.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=16782387) to match iTunes' scroll bars, which adds some consistency to the new GUI. Click for a larger image.
http://mt15.quickshareit.com/share/picture1small80b35.png (http://mt14.quickshareit.com/share/picture101d2c.png)
And here I have QuickSilver brought up with the Fumo (http://lipidity.com/downloads/fumo) interface, smoke turned off. I also have the GrowlHUD (http://www.interaktion******/2007/growl-display-style-growlhud/) interface for Growl notifications which, again, makes things nice and consistent to match Leopard's bezels. Click for a larger image.

Heh, I'm only a "moderate" fan. I really disliked the menu bar transparency and the 3D Dock, but everything else I can deal with. I personally think that the iTunes sidebars look way better than the Aqua ones, especially on Leopard. And the rounded corners to me are more aesthetically appealing. On Tiger I used Uno. Everything was bright white/off-white and shiny. Leopard's unified GUI is darker and duller, but I still like it.

02-29-2008, 12:55 AM
Yeah I really disliked the menu bar transparency. I waited until the patch came out to disable it to pick up leopard. I actually like the dock though, wish the lights below the icons were a bit brighter or like tigers little black arrow things. Though it's fine for me. I really like stacks, a lot. Have my application folder down there and it's one of the things I can't live without from Leopard. Spaces is awesome too, really really really helps since I only have a dinky 13" laptop screen (macbook) and even my external is only 19". Don't have the cash for a better monitor. =/
Anyhoo here's my desktop. Love my backround lol got it off a digg story that had a bunch of awesome backrounds.
