Carol Danvers, Tony Stark's new number two, is taking on an important leadership role in the Marvel U. In addition to being Iron Man's front person for the Mighty Avengers, she has also played a central role in the round-up of dissident superheroes in Civil War.
So what do you think of the evolution of her character? Do you think she is becoming a leader in her own right or simply selling-out her integrity to earn Tony's approval?
I'd like to believe that they are going to make her likeable again. I really liked it when the book was realunched but she's been kind of hard to root for since the beginning of CW. I'm predisposed to like her though so I think that Bendis can at least do a good job with her in MA. I hope that her own title comes back to the point where I completely enjoy it again. It's been getting better. I'm still hanging in.
I think that she will become a great leader, but I don't know that the way it happened won't taint it for me for a long time. It may be fun anyway. Waiting to see.

I think her powers work better on Rogue...

Her conversation with Tony in Mighty Avengers, particularly her inner monologue, gave me hope for her yet. It suggested that, if she has been selling out, she's become more aware of it and is beginning to chafe. In addition, I remember reading that the writer of her solo book was personally With Cap during Civil War, so I can only imagine his sympathies will come back to haunt her now that the crossovers are winding down. Fingers crossed.

I’ve had limited experience with the character, only really taking notice of her post-House of M. I definitely think she has the “sell-out” tag on her just b/c she’s on Iron Man’s side, but sounds like she’ll be challenging him and his philosophy a bit more as Mighty Avengers goes on. In the grand scheme, she’ll be a super hero to me.
The Comic Book Queers had a really good dialog on Ms. Marvel a few episodes ago where they conclude that she’s essentially a B-list hero who will always want to be A-list, but tragically will always mess things up to prevent her from getting there.

Not a bad take on her. But doesn't leading the Mighty Avengers automatically make her an A-list hero?

shes only a-list if readers care about her, and i dunno about you, but i couldn't care less about her. hopefully bendis can change that though

Shes a sell out.
First she wanted to be Captain Marvel and then she wanted to be Captain America
Coincidentaly both ended up dead.
By the way, we now have two alcoholics running the Mighty Avengers. St Patrick's Day is gonna be rough in the MU this year.
