Sombody has a lot of fun at Marvel with this stuff. I am wondering if it is getting old to the internet fans. If you thought the photoshop pic of Ironcap was bad check this out.
New Captain America/Punisher misdirection from marvel. http://www.marvel.com/news/-1.889
I only get annoyed when it's something that I want to happen and they put out something after as misdirection.
I've embedded the image because Marvel's website seems to be slow right now and I want to make it easier for people

Goggles?!?! He isn't even wearing the mask he picked up! Bucky has nothing to worry about, no one is going to relate that thing to Cap's legacy.

Cap as robo-killing-machine.
I'm going for the no-prize on the googles
OK, do you remember in the opening of Baywatch they had that snippet of Pam Anderson swimming underwater?
Frank needs the goggles because the new penciller will be Rob Liefeld and he'll need the goggles for the underwater swimming titty montage.
No? I get nothing for that?

I'm telling you. It's Reign of the Supermen all over again. Bucky, Falcon, Punisher and probably even Rick Jones are all going to take a stab before they settle on Buck...

I have a funny story about the opening. I used to hang out with my friends everyday after school when I was like 16. We'd watch Baywatch. Every single day as they played the opening I would remark: I hope that this is the one where Pamela Anderson swims underwater. It never was. I always felt cheated.

as long as he still takes the time to bait perverts on the internet I'm ok with it

I think the idea of a rogue captain america is hilarious. Like when Bizarro tries to be Superman. The idea of Castle becoming the official Captain America is dumb, but him trying to pick up the mantle is not a bad idea at all.
Granted, I don't read Punisher books, and I would do it by making Frank into a joke, but still...

OMFG!!! THAT IS SO KILLER AWESOME! Looks like he raided the SHIELD armory. Stupid in the long run but it makes for a fun story. Remember the Eradicator Super-wannabe?
Was that a certifiable geek-out?:o
let's think practically for a moment. Does Castle seem like a dude that draws pictures of shit, buys fabric, and then sews an outfit like that? Who does that for him? I want logistics baby

I'm calling Bucky and Punisher as the two new Captain Americas, each representing a different ideology of what Cap "should" represent. Which is just a travesty since Frank Castle deserves a hell of a lot better than being an allegory for modern day American policies.
For the love of christ, Marvel. What is this, the early-mid 90s again?

I am alarmed, for I am sure this image is exactly what it looks like.
Wait; no it's not; it never is.
I don't know much about much, but the more unanimous or narrowed down the predictions become, the more likely it seems to me that Ed Brubaker will check the box marked "none of the above."

Now that's an eerie thought. Maybe their will be two Caps - one government appointed and the other self-appointment (i.e. Bucky for example).

They already did that story. It produced John Walker AKA US Agent, and Battlestar, who was Bucky.
I can't imagine they'll do it the same way again.

I was actually thinking that they might all take up the mantle in a team kind of thing to fight Tony on al fronts...

maybe the punisher just changes his costume in tribute to his hero, because there is no way in hell brubaker would write him as cap...fraction would though, this'll be a punisher storyline, not a captain america one (just look at the art...)

oh i know that, but it still makes sense to do it again. and it won't be the same way cause i am with iSteve in i think there might be two caps the shield one would come first and that could spur someone like bucky to decide to take up the mantle

This must be the first in the series of new heroes called "Cap-Squad." Starring "New Grit" Nick Fury as he leads Punisher, Deadpool, Carnage, and Hawkeye on the path to freedom from religious tyranny.
Drawn by Rob Liefeld and Written by McFarlane.

The series ends as the team is defeated by Tony Twist brandishing a gun aimed at their ankles (the weakest body part of Liefeld creations)

Very cool looking, but will be interesting to see how they approach this, if it is Frank will they do the "not living up to the image of Steve" thing or will it just be The Punisher in a new uniform and business as usual.
They can't change the punisher in the space of one issue, but I think who ever ends up with the Shield will be the true "New Captain". I can't believe it has taken this long for people to wonder where the Shield is.

Yeah they had stuff with that costume on the cover of the June Punisher War Journal. I think everyone is avoiding this topic because that costume looks horrible and some people don't like Castle trying to take over as Cap.

Ugh, those oversized guns and superfluous pockets remind me of everything wrong with the industry in the 90's. I've cut Punisher War Journal a lot of slack. I might drop P:WJ out of disgust alone. The poor writing of the last two issues haven't helped much either.
Five Fists Of Science and Casanova were so much fun. What happened to you, Fraction?

what gets me is the misdirection is so obvious as not to be interesting. marvel is not going to replace cap with castle, they are not going to lose a character they can profit off of

Wha..? Why don't people like that? It's not like he's going to be the new Cap. He's going to try and fail. It could be an interesting story. I can understand not liking it if it comes out badly written, but how can someone not like the idea of something before it happens?
there seem to be, and I'm not talking about in thsi conversation right now but in general what I've heard, people who are offended by the very concept
it's crazy though - let the guy try - let him fail - bucky takes over - frank kills some killers - everybody wins

I just hate the costume. I really hate the costume. With the googles. I don't know how anyone could confuse him for Cap, because he looks nothing at all like Cap. Beast looks more like Cap. At least he is blue.

Well, we know where the shield is: Tony has it as war booty. Which the solicits for Fallen Son #3 suggest gives him the idea that he has the right to pick the next Captain America (to which I say DIE DIE DIE IN A PIT TONY... ahem, sorry, got out of control there.)

I decided not to drop it when this all started happening. For me, it's because I want to see how the WHOLE story pans out. I can't wait for it to be out of PWJ so I can drop it.

i want to see how this whole "cap dies and gets replaced" thing pans out and i honestly thought it would be self contained in the cap series. i dont know though, i probably wont buy this unless it is well received by the iFanboy community. im not really a punisher fan and i can't deal with another sub-par book on my pull list.
but i am intrigued by this storyline, damn im torn.....

I'm still getting too much of a "Reign of the Supermen" knockoff vibe from all this. I actually took PWJ off my pull list cause of it all and will wait to read it off the shelf before I decide if I want to still buy it. I'm more doing it for Fraction than anything else.

Brubaker's whole run. The trades are Winter Soldier I and II and Red Menace I and II
also, Captain America CW should be coming out soon

***POSSIBLE SPOILER****
I was looking threw the new previews and I saw the new Punisher costume. It is not Captain America, although it is definitely a spin-off. It is more or less the same as the current costume with the skull, but he has a black mask, the same cut as Cap's but with a star on the forehead.
