Another week, another interesting batch of comics.
I think that the title I'm most looking forward to has to be The New Avengers. I really like this new team and the chemistry they have together.
Two other titles I'm interested in are Buffy the Vampire Slayer #1 (season 8) and Civil War: The Confession. I know the second one will probably end up in disappointment, but I'm curious how Marvel follows-up Cap's death.

Buffy #1 is an easy pick for me this week. Aside from it being the only single I'm getting, it would have won most other weeks, regardless.
Buffy, Confession, NA, and Reign
also Thunderbolts, Fables, and Robin
I have like 5 more books and a trade

I'm a Fables fan too.
feels like forever since the last one

The Invincible Library is finally coming out after being delayed since December, so i'm most excited about that. I'm also really excited for Buffy #1, and this is coming from someone who's already read it.

aww shit! this is going to be another big week isn't it? im interested in all the books you guys mentioned. i dont think my wallet can take another 50$ week!:(
now that civil war is done, i really want to see where bendis will take new avengers, but im really digging thunderbolts as well, plus the confession looks like a big deal so i dunno.... how about EVERYTHING!

I am looking forward to The Confession. Imagine if Alex Maleev and Bendis were the team on Front Line. Civil War could have been the compliment that would have made Civil War that mature thriller we wanted it to be. Especially with the way Bendis writes Urich. Added bonus: With Sally being a Jenkins character, she probably wouldn't have appeared at all.

Always looking forward to Fables, and Robin as well, but as far as actual anticipation, New Avengers wins for me.
I want to see what is going to go on with this team that I think I'm going to really enjoy. Seems like a lineup that could easily slide into being really bad or hackneyed...will just have to hope Bendis keeps it good as he is likely to do.

Ah, CW: Confession! Knew I was forgetting something. Not too interested in CW at this point but might have to pick it up anyway. Maleev's art is just so damn beautiful. Suppose Bendis writting the thing doesn't hurt much either.

Man, every week reading this thread makes me want to get monthly issues instead of always reading trades.
Do most of you all designate certain titles to get monthly and others to only read in trades? Or do you double dip and buy both the single issues and when it comes out in trade?

I've tried to designate certain series for trades, such as Fables and Y, but i find that if i like a series enough to buy multiple trades i'll just end up switching to issues when i get caught up. Those only series i've been able to stick to trade is Ex Machina.
As for double dipping, i only buy a story i liked a second time if its in one of those fancy hardcovers.
I buy a bunch of things in issues and trades
if I want to read it again it won't be the issues.

The basic rule of thumb that I am applying these days is:
DC or Marvel = Issues
Everything else (including Vertigo) = Trades
There are exceptions to that rule, of course, and I am buying trades more and more and can see a day off in the horizon when I say goodbye to single issues completely.

Because you buy so many trades, it would be cool to do a trade of the week or month or whatever ( how often do you buy trades and are they current?). Maybe a mention on the podcast would be cool, I know you mention tons of books on the podcast but something more official, like a pick of the month.

Hm.. If I miss something (ie. Phonogram and Dr. Strange The Oath) I get the trade.
If I know its coming out, I get issues.
Anywho, I'm looking forward to Green Arrow #72 and Teen Titans..

Right now I'm just getting trades to try to catch up and stuff. I would prefer to have issues just from my old collector's sensibilities, but in a lot of cases price and availability just shoots that all to heck.
Plus, I find my self unconcerned about the condition of my trades, so if my son gnaws on them, I'm not worried about it.
Still consider myself an issues guy, but I can sadly sort of foresee the time that the industry goes to trades almost exclusively.

Argh...darn you (i really mean thank you) iFanboy and forum folk! First, you guys get me reading all these really good new titles. Now, I've decided to take my lunch break to head over to the LCS (I found that one is somewhat close to my office) and pick up some issues.
I love reading everyone's opinions on the weekly issues, but I feel like the person showing up to Oprah's book club who hasn't had a chance to read the book. ("Oh, yeah I loved that part too!"...looks away and retreats to the corner...). And waiting for trades doesn't seem to always cut it ("oh, remember that issue of Spiderman that you talked about 2 years ago? yeah I just read it and agreed it sucked too"). The thought of having a Wed weekly trip to the LCS somewhat excites me. I feel slightly weird ditching my coworkers to go to a comic shop; I kind of feel like I'm having an affair.

Haha! Well if you put it that way we are all in trouble then. It is always a good part of the week going on wednesday to the LCS. I always end up staying there for an hour or so talking with the guys that work there about the past weeks books or what not since they know I read a lot of the same stuff as them and have been going there for years.

I am extremely happy with my Bendis books this week; they were like the Civil War I always wanted and never quite got.
I haven't read anything else yet. Thank you for your time.
OH! I can say that I skimmed next week's preview copy of Amazing Spider-Man, and Peter's immediate reaction to the shooting is a real "**** yeah!" moment. I don't know whether this issue redeems the last one, though, as I stopped reading on page three to quit while I was ahead.

Buffy #1 and Teen Titans.
Teen Titans has been my personal favorite since jumping back into comics just over a year ago. The 1st 5 trades were so much fun to read....after that I hit a wall with the monthly. since it was so long between issues. But Titans East has been really fun so far.

You know, my shop didn't get a ton of books today. No Spider-Reign; no Cap #25s... actually, no Thunderbolts, I suddenly realize. Oops.

i agree with you about the confession! for those of you who b*tched that you didn't get enough of iron man's side of the story, you should pick this up, it was great. Fred im looking forward to what you have to say about this book, it seems like the best thing civil war did was end, cause now we are starting to get GREAT books!

they're coming. I only have 4 books left. I always try to wait for the POW to come up first anyway(provided that I'm not on the verge of falling asleep).
