I got both my Ubuntu and Kubuntu CDs in the mail today..this is more of a fun project for me...I want to try installing and messing with them first on my old PC in my room rather than this one....I am a n00b but that is what makes me so excited ..something new to play with and learn and screw up whatever

Well, if you need questions answered, feel free to ask here. The great thing about Linux (and Ubuntu in particular) is the community. If you have a question, there is a good chance it has been answered about 500 times.

Absolutly, Ubuntu is the most popular distro in the world. The amount of support is unbelievable. Personally im more of a fan of Kubuntu rather then Ubuntu because i think Gnome is the devil, but thats my personal opinion. If my apps would run in blackbox or pvm i'd use that heh.
Good luck man, welcome to the wide world of linux!
Thanks,
Zetas

Good thing I got both Kubuntuand Ubuntu
But damn everytime I think I have some time to pop in the CDs something comes up and interrupts me..guess for now I have to put my fun project on hold til things calm down :(
Yeah, I really, really like Kubuntu. Luckily, 99 percent of the existing Ubuntu support is applicable. KDE is just so sexy...

It's pretty easy to swtich between desktops if you feel so inclined.
For example, if you install Ubuntu but you want to see Kubuntu, just go:
sudo aptitude install kubuntu-desktop
And there you go, you'll have both desktops at your disposal... you can pick which one you want at startup. You can do that for XFCE (Xubuntu's desktop environment) as well.
