So let's get this party started! Let's talk movies...mainly GrindHouse. Are you guys looking forward to it? What do you think about the concept in general?

Meh - not so much. I'll wait for the DVD, and a group of friends with a BBQ so we can go MST3K on it.

I'm all in! This looks like it'll be a total party at least for the first few days of release... Much better than Snakes on a plane for audience participation because this thing isn't studio contrived as much as it is artist contrived. I'll be a hoot!

It looks pretty obnoxious. Plus, the MPAA is gonna butcher the heck out of it. Unrated DVDs all around!

I don't know how you guys can be underwhelmed for this one. You obviously didn't see the trailer.

There was a girl... Who had a very big gun... FOR A LEG!

Kurt Russel... Is a stunt man.... WHO KILLS A WOMAN BY FLIPPING HIS CAR AROUND A WHOLE LOT IN THE AIR!

Me = stoked.

I honestly don't know what to think of this movie. I've been more confident in the quality of a movie, forked over 10 bucks to see it and be completely disappointed. I'm so conflicted about new releases nowadays.

Plus, I mean, c'mon! It's two, two, two movies in one!

I'm not an opening weekend kinda guy usually (unless it's a comic movie and we do the midnight showing thing)... but the crowds will be fun for this movie. Too bad none of my local friends are excited about this flick. Bastards. They're all dead inside and stuff.

Dude, that hot chick that used to be on CSI-NY, Venessa Ferlito (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1089685/) is in it. That alone will be me to watch... but on DVD.

It looks like it is going to be rediculously outlandish. Gun for leg? Helicopter blades killing people? WTF? Should be interesting.

At first I thought it was going to be really lame but as I see more and more I can't help but be more interested! I'm probably going to end up just watching it on DVD rather than in theaters though. I love the part where Rose McGowan goes down on all fours (threes?) to shoot stuff with her machine gun leg. HILARIOUS!

Grindhouse already has favorable reviews ala joblo, aintitcool and chud.

If you guys don't know what you should look forward to in these movies... here you go:

1. Michael Biehn (Terminator, Aliens), Tom Savini (Gore Master behind Friday the 13th, Dawn of the Dead, Creepshow), and Carlos Gallardo (El Mariachi) are cops in PLANET TERROR. A Trifecta of Cool.
2. Kurt Russell is finally not doing a disney/buena vista flick.
3. Trailers by Eli Roth, Rob Zombie, Edgar Wright and Rodriguez are off the hook (Werewolf Nazi Strippers? Hells yes.)
4. It's a great horror movie in a drought of good horror flicks in theaters.
5. I'm totally going to uppercut Dan Trachtenberg.

There you go. If I think of anything more, I'll add some.

This can only truly be fully appreciated as theatre experience. Grindhouse captures the spirit of drive-in movies, mocking its very own existance. The clever plots and humor makes everyone in the theater appreciate the fact that their not watching a blockbuster, but simply enjoying art... and gore and sex and car chases. Grindhouse is clever, chilling and entertaining. BRAVO Rodriguez & Tarantino!

I totally disagree, although I'm not a big theater goer either. The last movie I saw in theaters was 300, and before that it was... I believe Xmen 3. Seriously there are not enough good movies that really warrant me paying $5.50 to go see (yea, cheap afternoon movies here with student discount)

This movie looks like one I'd like to watch in a theater, but not one I'd like to pay to watch.

I don't care about the girls Stuntman Mike was stalking - it's not like we ever really find out why he chose those girls or why he kills them at all anyway - and yet we spend so much time with them when we really just want to see them get killed in comical ways by a cool car. I would have loved to see more groups get killed and focus more on Stuntman Mike (And more time in his Deathproof car - wth, we hardly got to spend time with that). I'm unsure how a movie with such an amazingly cool concept could not be entirely jaw dropping cool.

Regardless, I liked Deathproof haha. Planet Terror was awesome, obviously. I loved when El Wray just broke the table leg off and shoved it in Cherry's stump ><

I saw it in this really old theater in my town and it was just great.

Basically you're saying you'd want to see an entirely different movie? The focus was on the girls not stuntman mike, so seeing his motivation would have been completley out of place. Also, seeing more into his characterwould have drastically taken the wind out of his character's reveal with the second group of girls (I don't want to spoil, but what I'm referring to is he reacts differently to things that happen to him then one might expect).

ok, well i saw this a couple of days ago and i think i am going to get a lot of people disagreeing with me because it seems as if everyone loved the movie.

Ok lets talk about Planet Terror:
I had a lot of problems with this one. And I feel like i'm missing something because everyone that i've talked to said that this movie rocked. alas, i am going to have so say that it lacked a lot of things. (however style was not one of them and i will give Rodriguez that) I can totally understand and respect a movie that is so bad and campy that its good. However, that kind of movie rewards the viewer with an inherent satirical or ironic tone. Usually this is apparent in the acting and the way the characters interact. This was somewhat apparent in certain characters but was obviously lacking in almost all of the female characters. On that note, the best part of the movie was when Fergie was trampled by an onslaught of disfigured blood thirsty zombies. i will make the cliche joke of saying that i'm sure she tasted "fergalicious". And i must say that Freddy Rodriguez's hotness made me stay and watch the movie. very very sexy man.

please feel free to disagree! what do you think?

OK, I was not really that interested in seeing this movie (this was about a week ago, before it was released). I am not a very big Tarantino fan (liked Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill Vol. 1, but everything else was only so-so to me). Then, then, then, I started hearing the reviews. First, I heard a review on NPR's Fresh Air (sorry, didn't mean to class the boards up) and they reviewed it really well. Then I heard a friend of mine raving about it. Then, and this is the clincher, Kevin Smith on his SModcast this week gave it raving thumbs up. Of course, the fact that The Totally Rad Show gave it thumbs up (at least for Planet Terror which I am more interested in seeing since I'm a huge Rodriguez fan) just means it has to be seen!

Soooooo, I think I'm going to go with a buddy of mine this Sunday and catch it. I'm hoping to see it with a good sized crowd!

I saw it earlier today, I really really really loved Planet Terror, but Death Proof was pretty meh really, it had some cool moments, like when (minor spoiler) the chick gets a tire to the face...
