View Full Version : Do you ATI or nVIDIA?
Thats the question?
I used to be a huge ATI fan, I had the logo's the moves, but I refused to deal with there driver support any longer so I switched to nVidia and I believe it was a great move and will never return to ATI.
Whats your fav?
I'm on the ATI Radeon X1800XT which is a beautiful card. Colour's are vibrant, games, dvd's etc look fantastic.
The only letdown is the horrendous Catalyst Control Centre but now that nVidia have moved away from that way of doing things I'm guessing its only a matter of time until ATI follows suit.
I'd been on nVidia card's up until this card, excluding a brief gap-filler between which was an ATI Radeon 9600 i think, which I used when my GeForce 3 packed up.
Personally I love both ATI and nVidia card's. At the end of the day, if you get a good card from either, the noticeable difference is negligible and they both do what they were made to do :)

I don't really have a preference. Whatever has the best technology at the time. I'm using an Nvidia card at the moment, though.

When I played PC games, I had an nVidia card. But now I have an ATI card in my Mac and I'm loving it so far. I don't really have a preference of the two, but if I went out and bought one tomorrow I'd probably go with ATI just because it's what I have right now and it is working wonderfully.

Its all about bang for buck at time of purchase. No chipset loyalty whatsoever.

After my last ATI crapped out after a year I've moved back to Nvidia. I think it was a good choice.

I cannot stand the mire that is the ATI driver download list, so I use Nvidia. ATI also tends to have a lot of stuff that I am not interested in like connectivity for camcorders, radios, antenaes for FM, etc. Sorry, a video card to me is to render video well enough for me to game with it. I don't think that all the other stuff is really necessary for me personally. I also think that around $300 or less is a good time for me to go for a card, and I will compare the specs from there to choose one.

I prefer nVidia, but I will use either. However, I dislike ATIs control panel.

I used nVida for a while then got a 9600 all in wonder... needless to say the fan rubbed an it made the most annoying sound ive ever heard coming out of a computor. Also we have another system with an X600 all in wonder that dose the same thing. I switched back to nVida an have had no problumes ever on.

I use both kinds on my systems, but I would have too say overall I like the nVIDIA eVGA alot. But my ATI All in Wonder comes in second.

After years of being on ATI I finally became sick and tired of ATIs constant driver issues. I'm hoping AMD ownership will put an end to that crap and I might consider them again. I would tend to agree with little brand loyalty beyond that fact though. If ATI fixed their never ending driver issues I would consider them if they have the better card which they do quite often.

Same Same, I though' id be always a ATI whore, but after using it constantly and having driver problems constantly.. I managed to switch =]

I answered ATI only because there was no option for 'both'. My primary PC at home currently has an ATI Card in it. I have to admit though, I have no brand loyalty in this arena, I purchase whoever has the best overall bargain (performance vs. price).

I've got a 256MB Nvidia PCI card... its an eMachines PC... so yeah... heh.
Right now I'm on a old ATI 9600 series, don't like it, I have driver problems and more. I wish I was back with Nvidia

I'm actually rather surprised how this poll turned out. At another forum I frequent there was a similar poll that came out about even.

I have both in my house. I have to admit I am currently a bigger fan of nVidia over ATI at the moment. I also have a compueter with an intigrated intel video chip (Stay away from this if you can).

I pretty well set on nVidia. The people I know that have used ATi only had problems with it.
Currently I have a 7600GT fanless.

only bought one videocard so far and it was nVIDIA. Plan on upgrading this pretty soon and will replace it with a newer nVIDIA card.

Well lucky for all y'all. I've been ATI-ing for the past 2 or three years and heating every sick second of it. I know it was my fault for not being very computer savy back then but geese! I got an ATI X300 (don't laugh) and it blows hard nuts!
Next year when I start working, I think I gotta do over my whole PC. Buy some of that new "higher level" stuff. No rush though, I'm waiting for the next Max Payne to come out before I invest in quickly expiring PC parts.

I have to agree with bird603568 on this one. I often use linux and the ati is rather crappy... But if you can afford the HIGHER end ATI i say go for it. Nvidia has always been nice. so i guess i'm a fan of both.

I used to love Nvidia, but the MX series really turned me off. I love ATI and I haven't found any problems with my x1300 Pro that I got in my new system. I haven't really dealt a whole lot with the Catalyst Control center so I don't know what every one is complaining about.

I bought an ATI Radeon X800 GTO by Sapphire, and I am disappointed that it only supports Shader Model 2.0. Although, it does have 256MB of 256-bit GDDR3 SDRAM and 16 pixel pipelines and 1.6ns GDDR3 SDRAM. Usually, it only comes with 12 pixel pipelines and 2.0ns GDDR3 SDRAM. I just wish it came with SM 3.0. I've heard ATI's x100 series can handle SM 3.0. Does anybody know if this is true or not?

I agree. By adopting a brand loyalty, your only diluting your power over the market. I'm looking for the best card for the money at that particular time.
