Im probably going to get my first MacBook in a month or two, and it's probably going to have Tiger installed, since Leopard is probably not going to be out yet. So does upgrading to a new OS bog down the entire system like Windows PCs do?

Should I just wait for Leopard?

I don't know what the system requirements for Leopard are going to be, but you might want to anticipate having to add RAM to your MacBook.

When I went from Panther to Tiger I needed to upgrade to 1GB to get back some performance because I had the base configuration on my Powerbook.

I can't say for sure you'll need to do this going from Tiger to Leopard but that was the only issue I ran into upgrading my OS. It was otherwise a seamless install. I actually ran on the base RAM for several months before it I decided to upgrade it.

thanks. well, I dont think i'll have that problem because I was going to get the 2GB RAM anyways, but other than that, it shouldnt be any slower or anything?

I might just wait a little longer to see if they release a new MacBook or something.

I just got my macbook and was wondering the same thing, but I have 2 gb ram anyway so I'm sure I'm fine. My friend just got one with only 1gb so I hope that she can upgrade without and slowing down problems.
