What are the guys opinions of American adaptations of Asian horror?
In my personal opinion, I think the only reason America keeps churning out Asian horror remakes is because they've run out of ideas. The last "original" sort of idea Hollywood came up with in the horror genre I would say is the Saw series. And I just watched the trailer to Captivity and I have to say the first thing I thought when I watched it was "...my God. It's Saw".
I also think Asian horror is more psychological than American horror. It gets to you on a level that the American writers haven't seemed to grasp. Slasher films are all well and good, but if there's no story and just mindless gore (Hostel), it just gets boring and repetitive.
I would recommend that you have a watch of the Asian horror "The Eye", which was out in 2002, there is an American adaptation in post production slated for 2007/October release (starring Jessica Alba), it would be cool for your guys opinions on the original and what you think of the American adaptation (if you are considering reviewing it).

I know this game is a bit old, but I would be interested to hear your thoughts on Marvel: Ultimate Alliance for the Xbox 360 in your next episode. With all your talk about superhero movies, and your love of comic books, I am sure it would be an interesting discussion. Personally, I love the gameplay, and thought the story and cinematics were very well done, and stayed true to its comic book origins.
Thanks, and keep up the great work, love the show.

I would want to possess the ability to transcend the limitations of this universe and our physical beings. Think Peter Petrelli in the season finale mixed with Neo and add a dash of ascension ability from Stargate.
What would i change about myself? I wish my love was stronger. For myself and for those around me. But im working on that :)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Mighty_Thor_160.jpg
Im really not into comics at this stage of my life but i do remember with great fondness the whole Mighty Thor series where Balder, Thor, and traveled to Hel, the realm of the Asgardian death goddess, Hela, to rescue a number of Earth souls that had been unrightfully taken by Hela. In battle with Hela herself, Thor’s face was badly scarred, but he and his allies were able to save the souls. Immediately afterward, the omnipotent Beyonder transformed the leader of the Dark Elves into Kurse, and Thor defeated Kurse by sending him to Hel. With Kurse rampaging through her realm, Hela grew furious. She cursed Thor that so his bones became brittle and so that he could not die from his injuries. Humiliated but determined to remain a warrior to the end, Thor grew a beard to conceal his facial scars and donned a suit of battle armor to support his fragile body. Thor aint no puss!
This whole series had Thor fighting epic battles that were worthy of the God of Thunder.
Thor is a total bad ass! We need a movie. Although i dont know how popular he is with the general public. But hell they did a Dare Devil movie right?

If you guys were forced into an adventure. (..like the Goonies, explorers, LOTR, Star Wars, you name it...any adventure) Who would be the rebel--only in it for the ends? Who would be guy with the map? who would die first? who would be the leader? the comic releif? who would get the girl? Who would find the secret to destroy the powerful enemy? Who would give their life to save the others? Who would sell out the others and then regret it only after damage had been done?
Essentially the question boils down to-- if you (TRS) were a classic adventure group from the movies...what roles do you think you would all play in the group dynamic? or what roles would you LIKE to think you would take on in the group?
This question is for Dan:
Where do you get all of your awesome vintage t-shirts from?

Without a doubt I think I'd want Steve McQueen's '68 Ford Mustang GT390 from Bulitt, or Bumblebee (as the '09 Chevy Camaro) from Transformers. Both are infinitely better than my '96 VW Jetta...

Hi,
Continuing to enjoying the show thanks again for making it.
My question is: Do you watch other online programs and if you would consider giving your opinions on them (Aside from revision3 content, which goes without saying);
For example purepwnage http://www.purepwnage.com/ . I've been a fan of this show from the beginning (similar to TRS :) ) and I've really enjoyed it's progression as time goes on.
I'm so enjoying this new medium and the unpredictable content it provides.
Also whilst I'm typing I might add a film I've seen recently (Aussie Film) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0382806/ Look both Ways, maybe not your typical genre of Film, but an outstanding film none the less and I'd love to know what you think if you are able to find time to watch it.

And have you ever seen something that didn't work in one form that you thought would work in another? Like a bad movie that would make a great TV show.

I figured I'd post this question here since you guys seem to be quite knowledgeable when it comes to movies. I know all about the history of the classic Wilhelm scream that's in so many movies, but there's another in several films which I can't find the source of. 2. Favorite use of commercial or non-original music in movie?
This is to answer an old quote but, I just came upon this thread.
Few soundtracks get my attention but these are some.
1. JFK - for an original soundtrack - Extremely powerful and pushed emotion to suit the film.
2. Scorcese movies - Casino and Goodfellas etc. - The way he uses music is incredible for complimenting his story telling. The Departed too. The Music MADE them Irish gangsters for viewers.
3. Get Shorty - This one really set the tone for the "Chili Palmer" character. Really fun soundtrack and movie.

Not sure if it's still available, but when I bought HL2 (about a year ago), it came as a package with HL1 ported over to HL2's engine.
You don't need HL1, no - though you'll want a certain amount of background explained to you. But HL2 introduces more than it reuses - there are numerous characters that the protagonist is supposed to remember, but who were never shown or mentioned in HL1.

Although movies have been around for about 100 years now, it seems that multi-chapter serial film releases keeping with a linear plot and storyline have really only become the rage in the past 25 years with franchises like Star Wars and Star Trek breaking the ground and setting the precedent. What series of books, video games, or comic/graphic novels would you each like to see made into an ongoing film franchise? What thoughts do each of you have on casting and directorial duties of your choices?
Personally, I've always wanted the Incarnation of Immortality series by Piers Anthony to make it to the big screen.

What? Movie serials have been around since the beginning of film. The trouble is most movie series are pulpy nonsense and don't have a great resonance. That is, people forget them. The king of movie serials is James Bond, which is nearly 40-years old.
However, I would agree that Hollywood is in the midst of a severe batch of sequalitis.

What? Movie serials have been around since the beginning of film..
I was very selective when I picked my words for the question. I used the phrase "keeping with a linear plot and storyline" in an attempt to be clear. There were many Charlie Chaplain serials, and, of course, the multitude of "Frankenstein Meets..." movies. The Three Stooges. The Little Rascals (Our Gang). In all of these cases, the movies were independent stand-alone stories.
I'm not extremely well versed in old movies, but I do know that there was an ongoing space adventure serial as well as an old west cowboy one. I'm sure there were more. That was when it was a quarter to get into the theater and the movie was only 15 minutes long. I was really more making reference to full-length features where you need to see the original movie and it's sequels in order, or you just won't get it. Also, I was careful to use the phrase "become the rage" to denote that there were some previously, but it wasn't a popular method of releasing movies.
On a side-note... I am actually, to be honest, hesitant to classify James Bond into this category. It was, in my mind, more of a re-occuring character in separate and distinct stories. But, there was a linear progression of plot (VERY loosely) linking some of the movies, so I guess it does count.

Considering how far video games have come in the past 20 years (Maniac Mansion released in '87), what do you guys expect/want to see out of games 20 years from now?
Thoughts: Will the current franchises run-on indefinitely? Can we still expect another carbon copy Zelda game? Are holograms or VR equivalent to Back to the Future flying cars? Sorry for the h8tr pants. I'm sure if you answer this you'll have something uplifting to say.

I myself like to do some greek pita, hummus and spicy pitted green olives. Sometimes I'll do a bottle of wine (or 3) or sometimes its a 6 pack of one of our many local beers. All consumed while enjoying a newly aquired dvd or the weekly "clear the dvr" session.

This question requires a little background. When I was in the 8th grade my dad took me to the movies. I very much wanted to go see Stripes with Bill Murray as that was the buzz of the junior high halls. My dad insisted that we go see this other move that had just opened that day.
I had never heard a thing about the movie except the title. I pouted as only a 12 year old can all the way to the theater.
Well let’s just say 5 minutes in that friggin ball was chasing Harrison Ford out of that cave and my mouth didn’t close for the next 100 minutes.
Question: Have you ever had the experience of walking into a theater knowing nothing about the film you where about to see, and gotten you socks blown off?
If so what movie?

If you could own a shop, what kind would it be? For x-ample, Magic Shop (my choice), Comic Shop, Knife/Sword Shop, etc.
If you could be on the set of any movie or show just on the side watching the magic unfold what movie or show would it be? And would there be one scene in particular or just the whole movie?
Another question but of a similar yet different theme:
If you you were given the chance to cameo in one TV show episode, one movie, one video game and one comic what would they be? (since Kevin & Alex already got comics)

If Doc Brown pulled up to your driveway in his Delorean, and told you he would take you back in time to relive a specific moment in your life, what would it be (e.g. getting your first Nintendo, watching your first R-rated movie, your senior prom, etc.)? In addition, what kind of rad advice would you tell your younger self? Don't worry about disrupting the space/time continuum. You could always go back and fix it in the sequel :P

Ok I got a good question for you guys with the holiday season upon us. My girlfriend has thrown hints that she is going to get me one of the new next gen consoles. (Other then her love for me I think rock band is one of her motivations). Currently the only console I have is a ps2 as I just haven't had the $$ to upgrade yet so this would be a totally rad gift.
So my question is, now that the ps3 has had some time out in the market, which one would be the best choice in your opinion? The Xbox 360 or PS3?
It would mostly be used for sports gaming, RPGs, and games like guitar hero/Rock band etc. Also, I know xbox has more games but I am more concerned about which has the best current system features and better future outlook.
Thanks!

Hi lads,
I've been watching since Episode 1, but missed a lot of early DiggNation :(.
I was wondering why you guys don't cover classic movies, even re-releases or complete remasters. Some examples that spring to mind are Lawrence of Arabia, Vertigo, and Blade Runner: The Final Cut.
I am a huge movie buff, and all my literature (Halliwells/Time Out) all quote reviews of the day, not really relevant to todays audience. Most of the classics you mention only in passing, but these can still be rad, especially when completely digitally remastered/re-recorded.
So come on guys, review a few classic movies for us oldies (40 is old?)!
Cheers,
Keep up the radness.

Hey Rad Guys,
So I watched "Real Genius" last night and I realized that it's a movie with a TON of musical montage scenes (roughly eleven billion). But I wondered:
A) are musical montage scenes in 80s movies totally rad or are they just filler?
and:
2) If each of you could design your own 80s movie montage scene (either Radly spoofing or in Rad tribute) what would the song be and what would the scene be about?
Take it Rad,

This question is for all of you,
Without bothering to go back through the 45 pages of questions, I'm going to ask a question running the risk of possibly repeating one already asked.
I want to start reading comic books, but I honestly have no idea where to start. When I go to my local hobby store, there's more comic books than I could possibly browse through. Even if I could, I wouldn't know what to choose. So, since you're all experienced comic book readersm where do you recommend I start? Which ones are totally rad and and which ones are totally suck?

Hey guys, I have a dilemma I was hoping you could help me with;
I'm 35, married, have 2 beautiful daughters (4 year old twins) and I love my video games. I own an Xbox 360 and just got Halo 3 for my birthday (Nov 30). Although I do have many responsibilities being a father of twins and having 2 very demanding jobs, I like to relax and blow shit up once in a while...is that so unreasonable?
My wife on the other hand thinks video games are childish and refuses to support me in getting a subscription to Xbox live, so I can blow shit up with friends. She thinks I want to play games against 12 year olds and honestly I just want to play with the few friends I know have 360s.
My Question: How do you deal with the playing video games/life/relationship part of your lives since you basically need to play for your job? I know what you are going to say, "get her involved!". I tried! She likes Tetris and Puzzle Kombat but her attention span for this stuff is very limited. Also how do I convince her that video games are not just for kids?
Any advise would be appreciated.
Sincerely,

Buy a Wii and get the whole family involved. You shouldn't need much more than Wii sports and Wii Play (to get another remote + some cheesy games). Nintendo has put some strange JuJu in that silly little box that turns women into gamers. Honestly... it's true.
Think of it as gateway drug but for gaming.

Hi guys,
I wanted to ask your thoughts on a pretty common topic in alot of gaming forums. With the success of games which have a ramped down level of difficulty (in pr lingo easy = accessable) do you think that we are going to see truly difficult games become more and more difficult to find.
A classic example of this would be Wow. Its success has influenced MMORPGS all across the board. Now you dont have any options for a more diffucult gaming experience anymore. I dont mean that as a dig on Wow, I like the game, but more of just an example of game developers following successful trend.
Another example would be mass effect. One of its negitives that I have heard is the lack of a tutorial. There was a time when you were shown the controls and left to figure out a game from there. Now you need to detail every game aspect in a walkthrough of some sort. I am not implying that either way is better or worse. It really does fall on personal opinion. What I am curious about is the commercial success of "easy" gaming on future releases.
Thanks for your time.

Hey Totally Rad Guys,
I'm fairly new to comics. I enjoy reading things such as the civil war series marvel put out and certain Batman comics like Bruce Wayne: Fugitive and Hush. I'm taking a trip to New York in two weeks and while I'm there I'm visiting Jim Hanley's universe. I was wondering if you could suggest a few comics I could pick up. I'm not the biggest super hero fan and tend to like the more serious comics. For example Dan talked about a comic that was set in Vietnam on the last show he was on (I can't remember the name of the show or the comic now unfortunately) and that comic sounded like one I would like. I have a budget of about 80 dollars to start my foray into comics. Anything you could suggest would be awesome. Love the show.

Lads,
What top 5 movies do you reckon, that everyone MUST watch in their lifetime?
I personally, never had the ability to sit and watch movies, but after watching a few episodes of TRS, especially Episode 41, I am definitely turning into an avid movie follower. Can't wait to watch "There will be blood".
Rented Planet Terror, Zodiac, DeathProof and Knocked Up this past weekend. And as much as I loved Knocked Up, my favourite movie out of all 4 has to be Zodiac. And coming from a person that never liked anything related to a thriller/suspense flicks, thats saying quite a bit.
<spoiler> Especially the one line in the movie, when he picks up the Lady and the baby ... and passes the gas station ... That line he so calmly says before the scene changes ... O M G! It was just spine chilling. </spoiler>
Thanks for the awesome show mates. Just watched Episode 42, and yet another brilliant production :)
And one last thing lads ... I firmly believe, and I'm sure there are many more Radsters out there that will agree with me ... Please try and make the shows an hour long from now on. You guys always have so much more to say on each segment, and it is just a joy to watch. You 3 lads, 1 hour ... and only magic can ensue :)

I think it would be a cool segment to go to one hosts house and film their video game setup. Let them show their consoles, game collections, etc. Then on a later episode go to another hosts house.

As far as Dexter goes, I just want to say that I think it's great that you guys responded with a full appreciation and respectful review even though you didn't like the show that much. I hope it doesn't deter you at all when making future decisions on reviewing stuff that the community suggests. I think a lot of your viewers (including myself) are a little younger and perhaps identify more with the characters of the show. I personally didn't grow up with too many comic books but I did have a subtle appreciation for them. Without having an experienced eye for character development in a comic book, I probably didn't catch on as quickly as Dan did. That being said, I think the reason why Dan may have not really liked it was because of the way the story develops. I think that the shows characters mature, grow and take shape at a different pace and probably in a different sequence than in a comic book. I really hope that Dan gets to see at the very least the whole first season and that your opinion of the show changes. Once again, I hope that this doesn't turn you off to future suggestions but I want to thank you guys again for the review that you did do.

Hey Alex, Dan & Jeff,
I've been watching since episode one, and TRS has become my favorite show on Rev3. I really appreciate the down to earth bullshitting you guys do that you wont get in most reviews. I would argue your reviews are far more unbiased and fair than anything the big guys put out.
On to my question: We already know what super heroes and characters you guys enjoy, or would like to be. What I want to know is which television, movie, videogame, or comicbook characters you identify with, or seem to be most like yourself. Jeff can not pick a character from The Shield.
(I'd probably go with DFENCE from Falling Down, not because I feel the need to go postal or anything, but because I often have a difficult time accepting some of what goes on in society. Otherwise it's Garp from The World According to Garp, simply because I'm a writer that's gone through disturbingly similar experiences.)

Hi Guys,
I just wanted to say thank you for BioShock. I really don't get to play any shooter games due to most of my gaming being done with Anakin. In fact up until Halo 3, I haven't played a FPS since he stopped taking naps. But the way you guys went on about how wonderful BioShock was, and Jeff talking about the plot, well I had to try it.
Well, since Anakin got it for me for Christmas, I have been trying to sneak in a half hour when ever I can after I have gotten him off to bed. I will be finishing it up this week.
Wow. This was probably the best gaming experience I have had since the first time I played Tekken (Tekken 3 got me through my pregnancy). I have spent so much time exploring the world that was so beautifully crafted. Yes, the story is depressing, but it is so rich. I haven't read a book this well crafted in ages, much less a game.
Thanks guys for giving me a grown up game that was so good that I didn't feel guilty for not cleaning and actually compelled me to sit down and play and most importantly, finish it. It really has been too long. Thanks.
