Inspired by the graphics card thread. I was reminded of my days of PC gaming when me and my friends used to split up LAN teams based on who supported what processor. We would harass each other based on what we had in our computers, haha.

I've always been an Intel fan. For the timespan when they were overpriced and poorly named(as stated previously on Diggnation, how were we supposed to know what was good or not?), I never upgraded or bought a new computer. Now that I purchased a MacBook Pro, I'm loving the Core Duo, and it seems like Intel is only taking huge leaps foward with the Core 2 Duo.

And how about that 80 core processor shown on Diggnation? :p

Intel have the edge at the moment, but I am waiting on good things from the AMD/ATi merger.

I prefer Intel over AMD, for now.

I was always an AMD fan. But the Core 2 Duo just blew away the X2 series. So I've recently purchased my first Intel desktop processor in about 5 years.

I love AMD, and I have a bit of experience with the core 2 duo, and I am not impressed with it. The application I am using though suggests a minimum 3 G processor and I think that fact that it does not utilize the other processor is its downfall. for me at least.

I've always favoured AMD processors over intel, but we will have to see what the future brings.

As I said in the GFX card thread, I don't really have a preference. Whoever has the best chipset at the time. I have a P4 at the moment.

A few months ago I would've said AMD. But now that the C2Ds are out, it's Intel all the way. E6600 overclocked to 3 GHz f'ing owns.

I'm gonna have to go with AMD, the new AM2 stuff is pretty good i got my 4200+ up to 2.7GHz on air and is stable. since the release of the athlon 64 stuff ive been an AMD fanboy and im not going back to intel.

I've had my Athlon 64 3200+ since it came out. I paid some ridiculous price for it, but that's besides the point. I've been using this setup for at least two years now, and it's been turned off twice. Once when I moved, and once for a couple months when I went on tour with a band. It's never crashed, never needs a shutdown, and never gets cranky. More reliable than any Intel setup I've ever owned or used.

Intel is the Microsoft of the processor world. There will always be little quirks.

With how many partnerships there are, and versions of the processors and everything going on these days, its hard to choose. I think I'd have to give it to Intel, I have had the least problems with them in the past.

Depends on whether it is PC or Laptop.

For a PC I would go AMD all the way. But for a Laptop Intel's Core Duos are the way to go.

I don't even believe anyone has a computer that's never crashed or needed to be shut down. Even if that were the case I don't think you could attribute that entirely to the processor.

Indeed, I benched my e6300 against my friend's 4400+ and they were about evenly matched.

I've always had an Intel processor, but i would definitely like to check out an AMD at some point -- maybe when i build my own computer.... ::trails off in a dreamy tone::
