General Discussion is not the place, it still goes against the Revision3 rules of conduct.

LOL, dude, ease up. These guys aren't doing too bad and I support independent podcasts. If it's really THAT bad, the mods will deal with it. I see no problem with it. Keep it up you guys, at least your putting out your shows a bit quicker than The Broken is. :D

Geeze magunwarrior, bit of a board nazi eh?

Nice show. The more independent podcast the better.

Thanks guys... any of you have any suggestions for episode 3? Yes we did get a tripod :D. Idk if any of you saw Ep 1 but it was complete shit, Ep 2 was a major improvement IMO and ep 3 should be even better, although I am not sure what should be in it.

It's pretty obvious (http://revision3.com/forum/search.php?searchid=35969) that all you've done here is spam your shows. Let this be the last time - you have it in your signature and that's enough but if you aren't contributing to the community then you can't continue spamming us.

NJShadow

LOL, I dunno about that. I don't think most of the "community" would mind. At least there is SOMEONE TRYING to make a good tech show. Revision3 is really dropping the ball on that. YOU CANNOT SAY THE BROKEN IS NOT DEAD IF, WELL, IT KIND OF IS. I love The Broken but If I have to wait half a year just to see a single episode, it's kind of defeating the purpose. So far, the only decent Tech show on Revision3 is InDigital. I salute those guys (InDigital) for being able to put out that show on a somewhat "normal" schedule. I think these sort of things SHOULD be promoted rather than shunned. Revision3 might as well pick em' up or at least pick up some guys who can actually get out to make a show ON TIME. I think Revision3 is starting to focus more on comedic content than tech.

Changes are being made, things are being planned. Expect new things from Rev3 in the immediate and distant future. One thing you can look forward to is actual schedules for shows, along with newer shows.

I'd like to hear how you've come up with that. Either way, as was shown before, it's in the rules. We're trying to work on something to help out people with independent podcasts so hopefully we'll have a forum just for it. Someone who posts links to their show only (speaking generally here, not pointing fingers) and only posts when a new episode is out is, to me, no different than all the "xxx" and "pharma" spam we get. That's all I'll say on this and we won't have a back and forth.

This dude has put some time into something. worthwhile He has developed show ideas, notes, the time to film it, the time to put up a site, time to get viewers, etc, etc. He has created something.....Something inspired by revision3 itself. Revision3 should embrace shit like this. Say "Wow...Look what we have done" instead of "Don't spam your stuff." Talk about a turn off.

Hahahaha "Trying to work on something to help out people with independent podcasts so hopefully we'll have a forum just for it."

Hahahaha..."Trying"? Not to touch myself twice but I have been saying this for about a year and a half now. Anyway....How hard is it? Trying...It takes less than 2 minutes to create a new forum discussion area.

This site is owned by Revision3, a production company for IPTV content.
Do you go to the ABC website to discusss NBC shows? No. Its the same concept.

What if people put up a show that they are doing on their own, and then Rev3 do a similar show - and the original show owners start crying "you copied our show after we advertised it on your site - we are going to sue you!". Extreme example, but not uncommon in the entertainment industry. It is the reason why networks don't accept unsolicited scripts for TV shows - so they can't be accused of ripping someone off.

So, legally it is a slippery slope to cross.

Having said that, IPTV content should be encouraged, and we have no problem with people mentioning their podcasts here - PROVIDED THAT THAT IS NOT THE ONLY THING THEY DO. If all they are doing is advertising their podcast, then it is SPAM. If they are regular contributors and mention that they are doing a podcast, and would like some feedback ... then that is different ... until it is all they talk about - then they should set up their own forums and discuss it there.

If all you want to do is create an account to advertise your podcast, then you will likely get banned for it. Take the podcast to Digg, and throw it up in the videos section there ... you will get comments and feedback, and wont get banned for it.

.......Right. Because Justin's one podcast of "thefixed" is a huge competitor to revision3 as NBC is to ABC.

Yeah...I completely agree with the podcast spam everywhere but can we not look at this as a specific case.

These dudes have been inspired by thebroken, a revision3 show. It's not like it is some random podcast this guy is putting up here. Its a podcast that clearly gives credit and has been influenced by thebroken.

I just don't get this place anymore.....Thousands of stupid ass threads pop up every day such as an "Orgy thread" or "Toast" or other stupid shit that is replied to thousands of times and is kept open but when something pretty damn awesome pops up such as a podcast that has been inspired by a revision3 podcast....Its taken out and considered as spam.

Right on Klitzy! I agree. These forums are turning into garbage. Tech is no longer the focal point and the threads seem to consist of "My Cat Died", "Know any good perfumes?", and "I'm fat and nobody loves me". It pathetic. Where are all the real TECH FANS!?!?!? It's possible to be a tech fan and not a geek, a nerd, or an emo. It's about time this was addressed! Revision3 is supposed to be a place for people who loved the old TechTv, thus the name REVISION3. DL.TV seems to be doing a waaaay better job at that. C'mon people. It's time for yet another REVISION of Revision3.

Well, that's a matter of opinion on your part to say that "x" thread is worthless when compared to podcasts posted here. However there are rules and they need to be adhered to. Would I want to remove good content from the forums? No, not really but as moderators we enforce the rules putting our biases behind us. You probably wouldn't understand which is fine.

As for making the forum, literally making it is one thing but there are certain legalities to consider, specifically by Jay who would have to see to that in his free time. We don't just go doing things as we please, certain protocols need to happen. At the very least if you've made one thread, keep it to one thread and not make multiple threads but update that one thread. If you're a contributer to the site and have a podcast that you want to talk about then so be it, but making thread after thread for each episode is not allowed and that's just the way it is. Put it in your signature, there's nothing wrong with that either.

Yes, now we'll be in this never-ending circle of why you don't get it which is fine, yout don't have a company to run.

For future reference, you can talk about technology right...wait for it....HERE (http://revision3.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=12)!

This is the General Discussions (http://revision3.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=10) where you can talk about anything.

I never thought I'd have to say this but, I think we should have a ew topic on the main foum page entitled "Tech: Post anything tech related here" Mainly because of the fact that you guys split the sections up into OS, Gadgets, etc. and don't get many viewers because of that. Tech should be one of the main/top topics because this is a technology based Internet IPTV provider. Duh?

Great.....You still have not addressed the fact that the podcast that was posted was not just any random podcast. Of course, maybe I just don't understand because I am sooo inferior to an internet forum moderator. :-\

Just curious as to what defines something as "not just any random podcast".

Make a thread just for this, including your own version of the forum layout where this can be discussed.

Okay...The reason I am argueing for this podcast and not any other is because this average Joe podcast is revision3 related....

It is clear that they have been "inspired" by revision3 and if you watched the show...they give revision3 and thebroken total credit.

That is why this podcast is not "any random podcast."

I read around on the forum but do not post very much (have nothing to say really) I just posted this episode in order to see what people thought and because I thought it was a hell of alot better than ep 1 and thought if ppl didnt like ep 1 maybe they would like ep 2. I guess in order to have it not be spam i need to be more active on the forum.

btw thanks for the feedback guys! And I dont intend this being a threat to revision3 or anything like that.

So, buttering up people makes it okay to do something against the rules? Interesting concept.

Either way, something will happen - so being an active member of the community as a podcaster would be beneficial, you never know if something will happen along the lines of Rev3 looking for people or something. You have other avenues to try in any case, such as UndoTV (http://www.undo.tv) though I am trying not to laugh while suggesting this.

Well I do kind of understand why it takes them so long to release episodes of The Broken, it has to do with thinking of what content would good. You have to find stuff that hasnt been talked about a lot but is still cool and can be explained in under 10min.

Im not sure why ppl would think rev3 would take over the show im sure they could care less about it.
