The "BS" alternatives may be seen as a test of whether the rest of the questions are likely to have been answered seriously. But what do I know.. :)

It was a really short episode. Though I did enjoy seeing all the new cameras.

All of the point and shoot cameras made me drool!

GPS Enabled cameras are a god send in the Environmental/Engineering world. My company does ecological surveys and it is great to know exactly where a photo is taken, For example, a gopher tortoise burrow or a scrub jay nest. Some GPS enabled cameras will not only provide XYZ, but also provide bearing. So if you take a photo on a mountain top you will know that the view is to the East.

I think it's pretty much accepted wisdom in the Camera industry that prices are being driven down by a low demand for new digital point and shoots NOT my cheaper technology as Hahn suggested.

Apparently, a lot of people own compact digital point-and-shoots and aren't replacing them fast enough. There are also loads and loads of new camera being released.

People are also upgrading to new consumer DLSRs in great numbers. This makes $500+ digital point and shoots pretty unattractive.


Also, using the optical viewfinder is not obsolete. The optical viewfinders on most compact point-and-shoots just suck. However, these 3 inch screened cameras are gonna hog down batteries like anything. Nevertheless, a optical viewfinder is a requirement for anyone taking pictures professionally.
