What's Revision3's policy on putting their shows on YouTube? Cause' I've been wanting to get some of their shows on there because obviously they aren't doing it much anymore.

You can already download full versions of the shows, and can watch it online via flash ... so why the attraction of YouTube?

Attraction of youtube is that youtube gets just a few more hits I'd say than revision3 does. Free advertising and promotion for revision3.

There was a big hoopla about YouTube changing its policy meaning they would own your content. If Rev3 put their stuff on youtube it might mean Google would have the right to make DVDs of the show - not totally sure but the general idea is something to look at. Also, youtube's content doesn't look that good when compared to video from Revver and others. Not only that, but Rev3 doesn't need to put content there, they've managed to grab a good amount of regular people watching shows, more than cable television stations in some instances and have managed to get funding to cover stuff like bandwidth. The only real benefit from youtube would be a particularly good clip from a show that someone might want to share - not from Rev3 but from a viewer. Sort of Guerilla marketing.

I think Rev3's unspoken policy (because they release things under CC licensing) is that clips and mash-ups are kosher but anything beyond that isn't shiny.

Revision3 already put some of their shows onYouTube! Their username was Revision3. I checked their channel and yeah, that them. So I guess it's ok to post their videos on YouTube!

THEY posted THEIR videos on YouTube. THEY made that decision. Not YOU.

Yeah...He gets it. He is pointing out the fact that your argument for downloads and views is no longer credible.

I say just post them and see what happens. I dont think they would care that much and if they did then they would prolly just have them removed.

Actually, there isnt anything they can do outside of saying to YouTube "please take them down". They release under a creative commons and even the strictest creative common license allows you to redistribute it unaltered as long as you dont try to claim it as your own. But... why do it? They offer built in flash players. Though to play the flip side, by posting it on youtube you are getting it out to more people. Especially now that they have started watermarking their content with the Revision 3 it should have less of a negative impact.
