I was trying to find a good Linux for a web server when I ran across this,
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver/facts/default.mspx?R=cf
I thought it was pretty funny and thought I would share it.

I think I will stick with NetBSD (http://NetBSD.org) and Mac OS X (http://apple.com/osx/)

You hate linux for desktop use? Why the ****? It's free and it does everything that windows does, just better. How the **** can you not get a distro like ubuntu instead of windows? I dual-boot between linux and windows, and only go to windows for gaming (sometimes). Linux is completely awesome and I hate you and your dumbass opinion.

I don't like Linux for desktop use either. I love how stable and secure it is however Linux really lacks the ease of usability/compatibility and UI that I want. I use Mac OS X because it is stable and secure like Linux and picks up in the areas that Linux lacks IMO.
Linux has it's purposes but isn't at the point where I would use it on a day to day basis as a desktop operating system.

Thank you, now let's never talk since you can't form a reasonable arguement without cursing and flaming.

Usability? Try out ubuntu's latest release Feisty Fawn. It installs in about 10 minutes, I didn't have to download any drivers it just sets itself up. You can within minutes download beryl and other graphical interfaces that look and operate much better than vista and osx (multiple desktops, widgets, window effects....) I'm sorry for being pissed but it annoys me when people still complain about linux's usability, compatability, and operation. The only flaw is games, but you can just dual boot and no problems.

I'm not a big fan of Beryl. Alot of the the things Beryl does my Mac does as well. It's cool and all, but alot of things in Beryl serve no purpose and IMO get in the way. Not to promote my site or anything but I go into more detail on this here. (http://phatlip.org/?p=69)
I like messing around with Linux; I just can't see myself using it on a daily basis. It's still not for your everyday user. While I would consider myself to be an advanced user...I'm looking for that "everyday user" environment for a computer I use each day.

@_@?
What do you mean by everyday user? Word Processing, email, web browsing, instant messaging?
Maybe you just need to find the right desktop environment or something but there are very competent and user friendly applications for "everyday users" and most, if not all, are already available and widely used on Windows.
OpenOffice, (Thunderbird for those that like email clients), Firefox and Gaim will cover most everyday activities for 'normal' users. Yeah, Gaim (Recently renamed to pidgin) isn't a huge windows app (I dont think?) but it is quite usable and friendly.
"Everyday Users" I would think would be the prime target for Linux (Some distributions, Ubuntu is the most widely accessible now I think) because Linux really doesn't lack much until you get to things like gaming or perhaps digital art/3d animation or other things where your job requires a very specific application set to be used.

Okay, here's my opinion:
It's all a matter of opinion. Some people like things for petty reasons, some people dislike things for petty reasons. It's all about opinion.
I like Windows and Linux. Windows for some things, Linux for others. But, my opinion on OSX is that it is too.. easy. Like a Fisher Price "My First Computer"! But that's just for me.

well doesnt this make sense? If a multi billion dollar company or enterprise wants needs reliability and service, wouldn't they use windows server, or some other 'name brand' solution?? here is my question, if a company uses 'linux for a web server', and there is a major flaw, bug, or security exposure, who does the company call to get the patch ??

They should buy support from the Linux companies that sell support for Linux.

Oh I do too; just not on a computer I use everyday. If I'm on the computer it's for a reason. I want to be productive as possible. If I'm bored and want to have some fun I'll mess around on Linux. OS X is my choice of OS for everyday use.
Ps. OS X is Unix based. You can keep things simple or you can make use of that Unix core. ;)

If there is a bug or flaw in a Linux Distribution that requires an update/patch there will be one very soon. Any Linux Distribution with an active development team and community behind it will fix things as fast as lightning in most cases.
And the good ones won't charge you a dime for support.
