Did You Watch The Ten Commandment's on Easter Eve? I did, and even though I own it, it's great to know that it is broadcasted on ABC throughout the United States. And if anyone wants to know here's a great verse.
John 3:16
-For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

I'm not into the whole religious thing, and I am just thankful I am not dragged to the morning service anymore. I have grown up hating easter because of it. But I do love eggies!

I'm gonna go to the morning service tomorrow. I loved it at my old church because they had 2 services on Easter Sunday. 1 was a remembrance of the cross with communion and then a message, and the second was the major message with the INCREDIBLE singing. When my church would sing "He Arose", they were AMAZING!

Not religious work on sunday and hate the movie.
You can thank my dad for that last part...he used to watch a ****ing shitloads of movies and ruined a great deal of films for me because he watched them so many times I grew to not like them and never want to see them again.
I still really like movies but avoid many of the ones he watched.

I'm Catholic so I've seen it many times - I knew it was on but didn't feel to see it again. I was sort of wondering if it was a mistake - it's really hard to see any networks putting anything religious on TV since it's as though Catholicism is the new gay for the US or something. (banning Christmas trees? seriously?) That said, anything religious you see is Christian - I had to wonder if there were any Catholics, not Christians in the United States. I found one (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Colbert).

I watched... 'watched' it because my mom was watching it... and I was busy with Diggnation. But occasionally I'd glance over and point and laugh.
It's such a terrible movie. Don't even tell me that it's an old movie, I know, but they shouldn't have colorized it, because it looks gay.
It's good for the lolz.

Seriously?! I must have missed it, I really wanted to see it. Seemed like it was going to be more valid than some of the other things I've seen about Jesus, i.e. the "Assuming that these 50+ theories are correct, here's what would of happened."

It's not that being Christian is bad, but rather that, until fairly recently, being anything else was something you didn't talk about because Christians ruled the world. People started speaking out against the feeling of oppression by the Christian church. In the US, the largest religious group is still Christian.
I don't agree that, at holidays, Christmas trees should be banned. I believe all religions have a right to celebrate, but the problem comes in when you have Christians acting self-righteous and telling everyone that they are right for fact and that everyone else should not talk about anything else because it's wrong.
If Christians, the Catholic church especially, didn't try to force their views on everyone else, even manipulating history, then non-Christians would be more accepting. I've been on both sides of it here, from bible-thumping Christian who always carried a bible to agnostic now. I did once think that Christmas belonged to Christians and that anything else at that time was just wrong.
The government basically endorses Christianity. NO OTHER RELIGION has its holidays celebrated by the government. You don't see Passover at the White House, or Rosh Hoshana. The only religious holidays are Christian.
Catholics ARE Christian, and there are many Catholics and many other-denominational Christians here.

I did not watch. I am agnostic, though believe that Jesus existed. I don't believe he touched the dead and they rose, touched the blind and they were able to see. My belief is that he was a human who preached tolerance and love.
Research, really research, the history of the church stemmping back to Nicaea, further back, and don't immediately say, "That's wrong," to everything you don't like. Notice how much of what is documented historically corroborates, and keep in mind that more murders have been committed in the name of god, primarily against non-Christians simply for not being Christian. Not exactly tolerance and love.

Christian = One who believes that Jesus was born to a virgin woman, the son of god crucified, and resurrected to save us from our sins, that he is the savior.
Jews believe that Jesus existed and that there is a god, but not in the resurrection part, which is why they are not Christians.
Catholicism, Protestantism, Presbyterian, Baptist, etc., are denominations of Christian. Each denomination celebrates and worships in a different way and, quite often, certain beliefs clash, such as one saying no dancing because it's sexual while another saying it's okay. But as long as they each have the foundation of Christian, then they are Christian.

Ok, here it goes.......
(Talking to people who don't think that there are 3896432 religions....)
-The ONLY way to get to Heaven is through Jesus Christ by accepting Him as your Lord and Saviour.
-It is a FREE GIFT accept it or turn it away, it's your choice.
-If you are not 100% sure that if you died today that you would go to Heaven I would highly consider you check out John 3:16 (In my sig.)
-Putting this to rest, yes, you can be a Catholic and can be saved. I'm Baptist but it's not a religion, it's a relationship, so whatever you are, if you call on the name of the Lord you shall be saved.
-If you receive Christ as your Savior then boom, your debt is paid and you have 100% assurance that when you die, you are on your way to Heaven.
-TECHNICALLY, you are only a "Christian" if you are actually living a God-centered life because Christian means "Christ-like".
-Think about it, if there is no God than you have NO PURPOSE for being on this Earth. There is no point for anything or anyone to exist. If you actually believe in God than you already know what your purpose is.
-If anybody wants to know anything else about getting saved/salvation, just post it here.
-LOL, Also, are there any born-again Christians on these boards?

Christianity is the label of the religion. Christianity is broken down into several denominations; Catholicism being one of them (though Catholicism is probably the most different from others).
There are thousands upon thousands of Catholics in the US. I know a ton of them, my grandfather is Catholic. In fact, we had a president that was Catholic (Kennedy, there may have been more).

Correct, the King James version of the Bible is edited and the Jerusalem bible is the "correct" bible. It's the bible. It's sort of like propaganda when you think about it.
NJShadow
04-09-2007, 01:08 AM
That kinda depends on what version you read. The King James version has EVERYTHING in it. The New American Standard version, used by most Catholics, seems to be a bit flawed in the fact that they included the Apocrypha which was proven to have NOT been written out of divine inspiration but was false. Trust me, check out the King James version.

I have have 30 different versions of the bible on my pc some have things KJV don't and KJV has some things others don't. I'm not going to argue over the contents of the bible ya see I am not a good Christian at all.
I prefer these rules over the 10 commandments
1. Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked.
2. Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them.
3. When in another’s lair, show him respect or else do not go there.
4. If a guest in your lair annoys you, treat him cruelly and without mercy.
5. Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal.
6. Do not take that which does not belong to you unless it is a burden to the other person and he cries out to be relieved.
7. Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained.
8. Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself.
9. Do not harm little children.
10. Do not kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for your food.
11. When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop. If he does not stop, destroy him.

Not really, I have 5 years of Christian education under my belt, so I'm not completely in the dark with these kinds of things. Not to mention, to you see my last post on the Schofield Study Bible?
Okay, but you have 5 years of studying the incorrect bible. It matters not if you've studied for 10 years, it's the wrong thing, that's the point I'm trying to get across. I am not going to argue on it or anything though. Think of it this way, Radical Muslims are taught wrong things by "elders" who take the Koran and use the words as they please. This is wrong. It incited violence, etc. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it because it is so blatant. Some people grow up with this teaching so as far as they know it's the correct thing. They think this because it is all they know. No sense really reasoning with them or attempting to because of them being so violent and passionate about it. In reality the Koran teaches peace. This is the REAL thing.
My point is, if you grow up with the wrong thing and are lead to believe it is correct, then as far as you're concerned everyone else is wrong. I don't go around trying to convert people to anything or say that they are "wrong" and all that. I know what I know and people generally don't care to be told they're wrong because as far as they're concerned they're not. This is fine, I respect the views of Muslims, Christians that are not Catholics etc. But there are different version of the Bible for a a reason/reasons. For instance, Jehovah's Witnesses have a different bible that teaches some ridiculous things. The Anglican religion was created out of spite. I'm not saying people there in those religions are bad, but the backbone there is no good. Just know some "religions" are cults or businesses, essentially. Sort of deviated there, but I think my point is clear.
King James version is incorrect, if you're happy with it, then so be it. I'm not here to give people evangelism really.

I totally get what your saying. I have studied a bit and don't see how it's wrong from your explanation. I understand how people get ticked when their wrong, it happens. I won;t get ticked because I know what I know and, in my eyes, it right. Not because someone else shoved it in my face. I ON MY OWN, decided to get saved. No one shoved it in my face and forced me to do it. I don't really know what you basis is for claiming it is wrong. Check out the Schofield study Bible. AND, since the KJV Bible was THE FIRST, then the things that the other Bible's have "added to them" are blatantly against the actual teachings of the Bible when it says not to add or deduct anything from the scriptures.

Hon, don't try to convert anybody here. I don't think that will go over well. SOme of us genuinely believe that there is no afterlife, or in reincarnation. The bible also says that heaven is a gift. A gift is something that you don't earn, but are freely given. It's not a reward. Yet the bible also says you have to be "saved" to get into heaven. It's a direct contradiction.

The problem is that you are saying that the ONLY way to a good afterlife is through Jesus. This is clearly saying that anyone who doesn't believe is wrong. It's shoving it in our faces to have your sign so big that it can't be overlooked.
The KJV was NOT the original version.

Fine, figured something biblical would cause controversy, it tends to happen. I'll make my sig normal size if the mods think it's oversized. I don't think it is however.
If it were anything religious so big, I'd take offense, and I'm sure others would as well. I've got nothing against religion in general, but I do take offense when people shove it on others. I get pissed that other Scientologists shove it on people just as much as bible-thumping door-knockers, and this makes me want to disconnect from it. Just don't force people to see it. If someone's interested, they know where to go.
Thanks for making your sig a regular size.

By Christian education I mean that I went to a Christian school and actually STUDIED these things. And I don't see the point in your last post.
By "Christian education" you mean you were run through a mythology propaganda mill.
You did not study "history of religion," "comparative religion," "world religion," or even "Christian religion." Your studied the dogma of the narrow slice of whatever denomination you were indoctrinated in.
There as so many factual and historical errors in your posts that I don't know where to start. And can't take any argument you make seriously.

ROTFLOL, I love this!
And anyone offended by things like this I think needs to lighten up. Even when I was a Christian going to private schools I said that and enjoyed a good bible jjoke. No reason that everything must be taken so seriously!!

Sometimes being graphic can make a point, and that was graphic in so many ways, but I don't want you baninated, especially in a thread that will most probably get locked anyway when we start calling each other heathens and blasphemers. :p

What was so graphic? And if anything is graphic, use a link and clearly label it as such. That should be fine.

I'm going to go ahead and give this the lock now. It looks like everybody answered whether or not they watched the show the first 2 or 3 pages. Ever since then it's gone off topic and is started to slip into a flame war so I'm going to stop it before it gets any worse.
Locked for the reasons stated above~Phatlip12
