Why is Diggnation in 112kbps?

Are you serious? You want all 92 episodes (~92hours) of Diggnation audio on an iPod? I keep 2-3, and delete them as I listen to them. I don't delete them out of iTunes, but they certainly don't sit on my iPod for eternity.

na, basically i only just got into diggnation about month and a half ago and wanted to download the back episodes to listen to and as i listen to more of them on my ipod than on the computer it is just fustrating that i can't have them there with me, also my point about the download is valid, 6 mins per episode, thats a lot if like me you enjoy it and want to listen to older episodes as well!

The audio is good, but if you want to get the most out of Diggnation, watch the video - it so much better.

No need to go back to Episode 1 (they didn't hit their stride until about episode 10) ... just listen/watch to the beginning of the year.

but i got a nano and i find the audio fine, but it would be worse for me in video cos the download times cound be even longer!

but is there a reason why it is in 112kbps or not?

whats stopping them releasing it in 64kbps?

they do a smaller version of the video so why not audio?

Sorry if u missunderstood, the whole idea was that if u were also wondering why it was such high quality, you might digg the story! No spam there! its just like having a 'digg this' button on your webpage. Why should there be a higher quality version 64kbps is fine unless you got absolutely *****in headphones, i mean TWiT is in 64kbps audio so why not diggnation? Just asking a question... BTW do have any ideas or?

also worth noting by converting them they go out of the podcast section on iTunes + iPod, meaning they are no longer in chronological order.. :(

I actually wonder why they even have an audio only version as it's all video podcasts / internet television / whatever that they produce. Anyone who listens to the audio only version misses out, no matter which one of the shows you're talking about.

I think this is also why they only have one codec / bitrate of the audio only version, it's provided as a sort of last resort.

I like that they also offer an mp3 version. For the first 38 episodes that's all I listened to (Reno was too intriguing not to watch) and when I don't have time I still listen the mp3 while doing other things.

Mostly, I think they are just giving people variety and options. To each their own.
