Considering it was Warren Ellis week with Thunderbolts and Fell I thought it be fun to talk about the third book he's doing Newuniversal.

So far it's a solid book nothing special but it keeps me interested enough to buy the next one, the premise being that a world that is never seen superheroes before has an event where certain individuals get empowered and how they discover their powers in a modern setting.

This premise is quite a good one and very engaging but there is one thing that constantly takes me completely out of the story the celebrities. There is constant photo reference to almost every main character I've seen, Bruce Willis, Josh Holloway(Sawyer from lost) , Angelina Jolie, edit-James Cromwell, Nicole Kidman, Johnny Depp, and Gene Hackman. There's many more (including a Japanese woman who I have no idea what celebrity she is supposed to be reference from) but while it's fun sometimes to pick them out it sometimes takes me completely away from the book.

Anyway I'm interested to see how many people are reading and how many celebrities you spotted, chat away.

I dropped New Universal from my pull list this week. It was getting a little dull for me.

Was it any good?

I read it until this one as well. It was good enough to keep buying it every month but I didn't really care about it. I may read um a friend's copy this weekend to see if I made a mistake or not

There were some developments and a set up for next issue which looks good, overall it was a very decent issue.

Thank you, I felt embarrassed there because he's a really good actor and I like him a lot but for the life of me I couldn't remember his name!

Was a huge fan of the original run of new universe. (me and 4 other people it seems.) and I think it's doing good on some points and kinda slow in some areas. I dont know why it has so many cleb faces in it, like they wanted to make it look like a big budget movie and their playing the "ohhhh, wouldn't it be cool if ___ played this role" game. Glad they seem to have left some of the dumber books out of it (marc hazzard, Kickers inc.) but I would like to see some of the other guys in the universe make and appearance. (DP7, Psyforce.)

no problem

he's been in some good stuff - Six Feet Under, The People Vs. Larry Flynt, 24, The Green Mile, and I believe he's playing Captain Stacy in the upcoming Spider-Man 3.

Nice!:D Now that I think of it he'd make a great Captain Stacy the casting on those films has been excellent, with the exception of Kirsten Dunst she's no Mary Jane.

And you can't forget his classic appearance as Zephram Cockran in Star Trek: First Contact.

He plays a completely different character in that movie vs. anything else you've ever seen him in. He's a hard partying boose hound.
