Read it and weep, folks...

Hulk CAST! (http://www.joblo.com/)

I'm surprised shitless. Speechless, even. I actually REALLY like Norton, so I think it's great. I'm just...awe-struck.

I'm sure I'll have an opinion later, but as of right now....whoa.

Not to diss Eric Bana at all. But Eddie better not suck. Cause the first one made no sense.

ON a side not,i heard this one will include The Abomination. How about a little Leader action? "So says the Leader"

when they was making spiderman and i heard that raimi was directing it, i was like"oh god well this is going to suck" and here is the thing i love everything sam raimi has ever done. i just didn't think he would do the character right. i was wrong.

Ed Norton is a great choice.
He can actually act well and is very believable in surreal or even straightforward roles.

We know he can deal with duality within a character - Fight Club

Even though Eric Bana is a fellow Australian, I thought he was an incredibly weak choice to play the protagonist of the film as the majority of his resume is doing B grade skit comedy on Australian TV in the early 90's.

The movie didn't help him out either as it wanted to take itself to seriously plus the fact that there was too much "Dr. Jeckyl" and not enough "Mr. Hyde".

ASS TO ASS! Requiem for a Dream really is one of my favorite movies ever. It hit me in a way no movies before or since has.

As for Norton, now that I've slept on it, I'm even more stoked about the news. One of my top three favorite roles of EVER is Norton as Derek Vineyard in American History X. That flick, along with Requiem, changed everything for me.

they're both amazingly good movies

Requiem For A Dream (ass to ass aside) was a great story. It was shot awesome, and all the performances were excellent. Jared Leto is great in that too.

American History X is astonishingly great. I've seen it at least 10 times. I still can't believe that Tony Kaye tried to take a Smithee credit to get his name off of the movie.

You throw the Shawshank Redemtion in there, and you got my holy trinity of movies.

Didn't Tony Kaye want the credits to read 'Humpty Dumpty' or something?

fred

Alan Smithee - found this article (http://einsiders.com/reviews/dvd/show_dvd.php?review_dvd=385) on it -it's near the bottom

also, the history of the name Alan Smithee (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Smithee)at wikipedia

Thanks Fred. I had heard of the Alan Smithee pseduonym before, but I didn't know it had anything to do with AHX.

Found this on wiki;

"The main controversy over the film centered on director Tony Kaye's attempts to remove his name from the credits, preferring to use the pseudonym Alan Smithee. When this was refused he chose "Humpty Dumpty" as an alternative pseudonym, which in turn was also rejected. Kaye alleged that his reasoning for this was Edward Norton's re-editing of the film to give himself more screen time. The Director's Guild of America ultimately denied Kaye the right to remove his name from the production, reasoning that Kaye had placed ads in Variety attacking the film, thus violating Guild rules regarding the right to invoke the pseudonym. Kaye proceeded to sue the Directors Guild and New Line Cinema, claiming they had violated his First Amendment rights"

Cry me a ****ING river, Tony. The dude shot and directed one of the best films of the past 10 years, and all he can do is ***** about it.

Director's are the biggest drama queens. That's why I switched from film to screenwriting. No attention was paid to the work. Just the ego.

ME - Hey guys. Why are we all in a circle? Duck Duck Goose?
FILM GUY - Circle jerk actually.
ME - Yeah, I'm just gonna take off...
FILM GUY - Fair enough. Come see my short film at the festival.

FILM GUY - No idea. But I'm really awesome.

truly a great american asshole

the funniest part of the wiki entry for me was this:
A version of Meet Joe Black (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meet_Joe_Black) edited for in-flight (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airline) entertainment was credited to Smithee.

I've seen Meet Joe Black and every version of it should be credited to Smithee. After that's accomplished, they should beat everyone involved in that monstrosity with a rubber hose.

Now that i think about Norton is the best choice. He's one of those method actors who will look at the material, look at the script, and really work the role.

Good going Marvel.

I don't know,i wasn't really a fan of "cuckoo for coco puffs" myself.

Thats Spacey by the way,who seemed a little Spacey. What i did like is he was so murderous. But not so much the dry humor.

Did anybody else see this?: A web site I was just reading quoted Avi Arad at a Spider-Man 3 junket as saying,

It's a new Hulk, new direction, new size, new color, new attitude. Anything that was done before is not in this movie. It's a very different kind of Hulk. It's more of a love story; it's more of a heroic Hulk. It's a kind of Hulk we loved in the show, so it's kind of more influenced by the show than anything else. It's very human, very touching, and huge action. Louis Leterrier has a unique filming style that will be great here and it's going to be spectacular.

Hints of what's to come, or a suit talking from his hindquarters? "Everything about it is new; it's just like the show from the seventies" seems like a mind-bending contradiction, but who knows? Ed Norton is the gray Hulk? Stranger things have happened. An Elektra movie, for example.

Liv Tyler is going to play betty ross

Given the season, here’s the news in a form standardized test-takers will understand – Bruce Banner is to Edward Norton as Betty Ross is to…

Liv Tyler.

According to The Hollywood Reporter (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3i3eb7af9e3029947338a6c458c64e5530), the actress is looking to expand upon her genre chops, and will play Betty Ross in Marvel Studios’ The Incredible Hulk. The casting follows the announcement of Norton in the role of Bruce Banner, made last month, and replaces the two leads form Ang Lee’s 2003 Hulk, which starred Eric Bana and Jennifer Connelly in the roles of Banner and Ross.

Filming on the film, directed by Louis Leterrier is slated to begin this summer in Toronto. Marvel is planning on releaseing the film on June 13th, 2008, with Universal distributing. Avi Arad, Gale Anne Hurd and Kevin Feige are producing, with Jim Van Wyck, David Maisel, Arad and Stan Lee named as executive producers.

From THR:

Ross, a classic "Hulk" character from the comic book's beginning in 1962, is Banner's fellow scientist and an ally in his quest to rid him of his lurking monster deep inside. The movie will unfold with Ross estranged from Banner (Norton), but with the pursuit of the Hulk heating up and Banner on the run trying to cure his condition, Ross finds herself swept back into his life.

Hard to think of Tyler as a downgrade, but I do nevertheless agree.

Never thought Tyler had very much in the way of Acting chops.
