Or we can just visit that one store over by JambaJuice. But I'm not sure if I want to come face to face with the guy that completely deceived me about the DSs.....I might claw his eyes out. muahahaha. Oh! We need to see Disturbia.

Alex, the reason why the doc style CGI stuff is similar in Battlestar Galatica and firefly is because the same CGI company did both series.

Awesome episode, loved the new tv spot, great intro to that. Hate me if you must for saying this, but Kevin Rose ditched myspace because of all the bugs and crashing. I'm not saying that TRS should move to facebook just because Kevin did, but it truly is a hell of a lot more stable. Just thought I'de throw that out there.

Great show, though I didn't care for the tv section. I skipped over the whole thing because it was for shows I don't watch. So it wasn't really... tv review... it was like talk about shows we like. Which I guess would be enjoyable for people who watched the show.

I don't mind that entirely, BUT if it's going to be like that in the future please edit in some sort of queue visually when discussion starts for a new show so when I'm skipping through I can tell when to stop!

And I have to ask... in the forums section what the hell was that fuzzy animal? I thought it was a dog till I saw more. Is that a long hair cat shaved down except for the end of it's tail? Is it a pokemon? Confusion.

Nice episode!

Jeff gets major props for being the lone Vonnegut fan. It wouldn't kill you to read a book, fellas.

Oh, and if you're looking for a console with an HD web browser (that can play Quicktime m4v files), it's time to break down and get that PS3--even if you're forced to go with the $600 version now. Do it--for the sake of the show. ;)

Okay, so I'm stoked that you guys covered TV this week. However, Jeff... although I have a school girl crush on you, I have to disagree with your review of The Sopranos. I think the first three seasons of the Sopranos were bad ass. Now, the show just seems annoying. Any show that makes me wait two years in between seasons better be amazing (which season season 5 and 6 were not). Although we didn't have to wait as long this time, it's is supposed to be the final season of the show and its premiere was ehhh. If they wanted to start the season off with a bang, they should've killed Tony Soprano (now that would've made for interesting TV).

hi, long time viewer, first time caller. the tv stuff seems like its too specific. i enjoyed the breakdown of battlestar galactica, because i don't watch it, but skipped through the meat of it, because i don't watch it. i do watch entourage, and haven't seen the episode you reviewed, and i'm not really sure what the episode was about after watching it. i did enjoy the short review of "thank god you're here", which let me know not to watch the episode i have tivo'd. so maybe shorter reviews to work more in, since theres a lot more tv show episodes per week than games/movies.

on the other hand, explorers kicked ass. my favorite nostalgic movie is bmx bandits. the pre-robbery scenes of them loading their weapons has to be one of the best pre-robbery scenes ever.

what's your favorite movie that involves saving a rec center?(or the equivalent, like a gym in Dodgeball)

i enjoy so much about the things you choose to be

Your welcome, I'm glad to be watching. Really though, thank you for making the show. The thanks in the credit was the first time right?

I'm really looking forward to watching Hot Fuzz on Friday night with my friends as we all loved Shaun of the Dead and it looks like it will be a fun movie to go see. My entirely looking forward to it being a big crowd with college kids since I'm not the biggest fan of that but that's what I get for being one of those college kids.

I was in the same boat with getting behind in Battlestar Galactica as the character episodes just didn't do anything for me. Don't watch The Sopranos and haven't caught the season premiere of Entourage yet but it sounds like I'll like it seeing that Jeremy Piven is hilarious. Props to Dan for pointing out Rescue Me since it seems no one else watches it. Also don't know how you sat through both episodes of Thank God You're Here, I literally turned off my tv when it became background noise after I was watching for 5 minutes.

Also wanted to give a shout out to Steve for all the work he does and something else that happened in either episode 3 or 4 but it's late and I don't remember what it was. It'll come back to me later.

First post, yay, blah blah...

Fantastische job you guys are doing, don't let anyone tell you different.

Loved seeing the TV segment finally included. As always- bang up job with the bumper.

Some thoughts-

I totally agree when Dan mentioned that Hot Fuzz had strong filmmaking (or something to that effect). 95% of comedies pay little or no attention to the filmmaking aspect of, well, filmmaking. It's point, shoot, laugh, repeat. It's when someone actually bothers to try and make a good film that comedies truly elevate (Coen Bros. come to mind). I'm glad someone pointed that out for once.

Dan's homo-erotic hoagie reference- Hilarious.

What's with all the LOST hate? You guys didn't get in to it, but Alex has mentioned his distaste for LOST many times on Diggnation, and I have to call you guys out. I think next episode's TV segment needs to be LOST-centric, because I (and I'm sure many other viewers) would love to know where you stand regarding the show. Jeff made a comment about a moment in Battlestar (which was admittedly amazing) which showed anything was possible in the show, and it was something LOST doesn't have. But I gotta say- I think LOST has had many moments that prove the exact same point. Hell, a few weeks ago (*SPOILER*) when Locke's dad appeared on the island was as big of a "Anything can happen" moment as you can get. Anyway, I say bring on the TRS LOST discussion.

Respect for mentioning Asscat! I've been to many free Sunday night shows in NYC, and they do improv right (Yet SNL continues to disappoint...)

Jeff is 100% right- The Shield is TV perfection. 6 seasons strong, and it's the only long-running show to still be batting 1000 at this point in it's life cycle. I have complete faith that it will end with nary a misstep.

One last gripe- I agree that browsing the internets on your TV with the Wii is not exactly like conquering the world, but it's pretty hard to complain when the damn thing is FREE!

That is all....

for now.

I completely agree, I watch Soprano's with my wife and this whole season was a big waste of time. This past weekend, however, there was a bit of violence so that was helpful.

I actually enjoyed the talk about firefly and battlestar galactica. Even though i never watched them they were spoken about with a lot of passion, leaving me no choice but to start watching both from the very beginning. I also watch Entourage, its great to hear someone else show their love for it as much as i do.

Keep up the other suggestions for new tv shows whenever you go back to the tv section! Everything else is great as well, even though I only play pc games.

Anyone else driving down the road listening to the podcast and suddenly yelling, "Death Blossom sunsab'tches . . . Death Blossom!"

The Shield - been contemplating that one on netflix. I like the actor. What would the show be compared to? It's greatest strength? A weakness? How many seasons does it have under its belt?

With Hot Fuzz guys you really missed lots of it by the sounds of things. Dan said he wanted more spoof stuff, or more into the cop movie stuff. But the thing is there is like non stop stuff the whole way through, its just not American stuff. There is loads of Midsummer murders / heatbeat kinda british small town cop stuff in there. All bloody golden stuff. When i saw it with a bunch of my friends (about 10, guys and girls, 10 year age range) we all walked out saying it was awesome, but odd that there was like 2 levels of jokes. Tones of perfect subtle ones for the british material. And then overt (too overt in places) american movie references.

so yeah, just a heads up, your americans watching a british flick. not your fault.

Strange review I thought of Hot Fuzz. Jeff/Dan didn't seem to get that it was taking the mick out of old UK cop shows and not american ones! And by far missed the quintessential character of the whole film and that would have to be the 2 police men that Bill Bailey plays, best person in the film. The rest of the show was good, but it's nice to finally see the Wii getting some support from Jeff, but so wrong about Zelda though!

As a Brit who loved Shaun Of The Dead I have to say I totally agree with Jeff and Dan about Hot Fuzz. I was really really looking forward to the movie and found myself disappointed with the first 2/3 of it. However, in saying that, it's worth sitting through that first 2/3 to get to the final 30 minutes and I'm sure had I watched that section of the film on it's own, it wouldn't have been half as enjoyable, so I can see Alex's side regarding the setup and payoff.

For the BSG finale, I think the reason it doesn't have that big impact that previous finale's have is simply because the plot points they introduce are going to probably have long running resolutions and impact, rather than say Adama getting shot where you will find out instantly in the next series if he lived or died.

Now can someone please tell Nintendo that delaying Super Paper Mario until November in Europe is the biggest mistake they could ever make!

p.s. The Cobain comment in Ep 3 was classic, keep em comin Jeff.

Good episode but I had a problem with a couple of things.

I am currently watching BSG (season 2.5) and haven't got to where you all are so I had to fast forward through the whole segment (but stopped when it looked like the segment was over, only to have a picture and you guys saying that one of the characters is a Cyclon). So, for spoiler purposes, there might be a better break in the show to let people know when a segment starts/stops (kinda like the rad fist pump).

The other thing is, I had to avoid talk of Entourage as I am going to be starting to watch that soon enough. So, I, like some others, had to avoid almost all of the TV section. At least I had seen 'Thank God You're Here' so I could relate.

Other than that, good episode. I'm looking forward to playing Paper Mario after I finish God of War (the first one). That and I'm looking to pick up a PS3 tomorrow night after I do a big trade in of hardware/software (stuff I won't be using anymore).

I'm really enjoying the show, keep up the good work!

I am not against reading or books. I only have enjoyed old school stuff in my reading. "Of Mice and Men" is one that comes to mind. I have only enjoyed books that are older than myself.

I was also happy to hear that I was not alone in my fear of reading out loud. Dans description of reading paragraphs ahead to prepare set my mind at ease. I am over 12 years from reading in class, but it still helped. My problem was I always read ahead of my mouth. I just didn't tell the story I was actually reading.

Good show by the way. The back drop for the TV segment was cool. I recognised all of it. (Maybe hang a "Cheers" sign in there somewhere? That is my favorite show of all time.) Good stuff.

Only problem is you left me impatiently awaiting next weeks show.

Great to see the new TV section. I like the idea of rotating themes/topics. I also loved the background, I got distracted picking out all the TV show references hidden back there.

Speaking of TV, I recommend a British series Life On Mars. I think you guys will love it. They've shown first season on BBC America, and the second season just completed on BBC. Apparently, they're doing an American pilot based on this series for the coming Fall. The premise is fun. A modern cop is hit by a car and wakes up in 1973. The series is about him trying to figure out what's going on while trying to fit in. Some of the best TV writing I've seen in years.

I was a little annoyed about the Thank God You're Here segment but I suppose it's not really your fault.

Thank God You're Here is actually an Australian show that has been, ported I suppose, to America. The Australian version is exactly the same except good. I suggest everyone searches around youtube and the like for some of the Australian segments. Especially check out the ones with Frank Woodley, Josh Lawson and Shaun Micallef.

I'm not sure if an American audience will enjoy the Australian version because we do have our differing tastes but here's hoping that you do.

I have seen a several of the American segments and the only one I didn't hate was the one with George Costanza from Seinfeld (totally (rad) just forgot his name). The funny thing is even the scenes they're put into have been done in the Australian version except better (except for maybe the kitchen scene, which I'm not sure why they did again because it was always a horrible scene).

Anyway, I'm done.

The main problem I have and I believe the guys were trying to express is that the scenes really heavily on the "improv" actor, even to the point were it is clearly a massive set up. Or they do stuff they know the actor isn't good at to try to make it funnier, I guess, by making them look stupid.

If you want a really good improv show go check out Whose Line Is It Anyways? But not the British version, just the American one. That show is the right way to do improv on TV.

Please watch some of the Australian version. I beg you.

I've watched plenty of WLIIA both the British (Back when they had John Sessions up until Ryan Stiles and Colin Mockery joined) and the American version and enjoyed both thoroughly. The British one varied in quality. Tony Squires, John Sessions, Stephen Fry and various others were all very good. When Ryan and Colin joined later on they weren't great straight away but really started to get into it later on (which is why they're so good in the American version). The early American ones I feel started off a bit slow, it took a long time to adjust to the new host Drew Carey who is the least funny thing on the show but as the contestants (especially Greg Proops) started talking back to drew in later episodes (something Greg did even in the British one) it improved.

Anyway, my point is, you MUST watch the Australian one.

Here are some examples (although they may get taken down):

Josh Lawson - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eIVJR9Ga9M

Frank Woodley - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIM74C6jEKA

(Although Frank Woodley might scare you a little. He's quite the performer.)

Wow, that Josh Lawson segment is great. Excellent improv.

although I might agree with you. Seeing as the clips you provided are really funny. The fact is that the guys were talking about the American version, which has clearly doesn't match up to the original. I don't think you seem to understand it though, you say we must watch the Aurtalian one, yet we don't have access via TV to it nor do many Americans know about it. I'm not sure how they air shows in Australia, but we rarely get any other country's shows unless it's on a speciality channel like BBCAmerica.

I know the guys were talking about the American one, and that's fine. It just seemed like the guys on the show and other people here were knocking the format of the show which is quite capable if the people are capable.

I'm not really arguing with anyone here, haha. :D
