This week is a great week for books, but a lousy week for cover art. Of all my 23 books, the best (and I use this word with qualification) cover was Nightwing Annual #2.

Please tell me that you found one that was better.

Actually, X-Factor wasn't so bad either.

Man... Dick should not be drawn as a grown man in spankypants. It was creepy enough when he was a teenager.
I don't understand drawing them as adults; why not just have Batgirl and Robin on the cover instead of grown up Dick and magically healed (!) Babs? Maybe I'm biased because I just read Batgirl: Year One which had exemplary art and some really awesome covers.
Or maybe I am just pissed because it was cool for them to be set to be married as long as Dick was going to die in IC... but then he survives and wakes up with some tramp OYL. *grumble grumble*
the cover for The Spirit - not so great this month

Wasn't the whole Oracle/Nightwing thing resolved in the Annual or something?

Oh come on, is it really that much more coverage when he has some tights under that?

Wha? HUH? isn't he suppose to be dead?.....and covered with fur? makes me want to read the book (after WW3 of course, which, by the way, had some pretty lousey covers)

I read about the annual somewhere and don't really remember the finer details. I don't follow either book so colour me embarrassed.

Im not a fan of the Nightwing book, but i picked this up because i really enjoyed the Year One storyline and this seems to harken back to that, im optimistic (a rarity in the case of Nightwing)
the cover for The Spirit - not so great this month
Yeah, looks like a garbage pail kid (http://www.garbagepailkidsworld.com/) gone bad.
In addition to 52, I thought Brave & the Bold was pretty cool, in an old-school kinda way.
Atom Bomb
I always forget the GPK

It should be said that while the cover for 52 this week was stunning, the interior art was terrible. But I suppose that sounds a bit tired at this point, eh?

i agree, i thought this was suppose to be the climax, the big culmination of the black adam storyline, you'd think DC would shell out the extra couple of bucks to get a big name artist on it (they've done it before). a little disappointed.

Crap! I forgot about The Spirit. Oh well, I'll pick it up next week.
did you not like the book?
review is forthcoming
in the interest of full disclosure - I love Darwyn Cooke. I really do. I've loved the first 4 issues of The Spirit so far. I haven't commented on the content of #5 yet but the cover was a bit of a letdown. He was a victim of his own success on that count I think. I expect so much from him.

The reason I ask is because the cover fits the contents, in my opinion. So if you don't like one you probably don't like the other.
I'll never tell <he sings huddled in a corner>
I will tell, but not yet

Hands down, the best cover of the week.
I also really like the cover to Invincible this week as well.

Aside from the strange-lookin' Captain Marvel head, I'll throw up another tally mark for 52 as well.
Flash cover was pretty decent. Very colorful.

I love the "fat-faced" Captain Marvel! Seems appropriate for the big red cheese.

But he looks like a baby. Like a furious baby. Like the one that lives next door to me and cries only when I'm reading (I live in a twin house).

Yeah, but Marvel is a bit child-like and... what's the right word. Um, guileless.

Like when I lost my copy of Street Fighter II Turbo after a sleep over.
Nah, that makes sense. Though if I were a villain I'd have trouble fighting Captain Marvel. "Awww Look at that faaace!"
