View Full Version : Do You Love To Wii?

As a Wii owner since launch day in the UK (yes I queued), I was just interested to know who on here owns a Wii, who wants one, who's loving their's, who's tired of their's, what game you love most and what games you're desperately waiting for...
For me, I adore my Wii. It's perfect for me in the sense that I don't get a whole lot of time to game and when I do it's usually in short bursts, I also don't have a whole lot of money to spend on games. I'm desperate for some online action and I know it'll never compete with the radness of XBOX Live, but man do I crave some Wii Sports online!
As for the games, I own Wii Sports, Wii Play and Rayman. Wii Sports continues to get the most play (I need those platinum medals baby!). I'm tempted to buy Godfather and Excite Truck, but not until their price drops and I can't wait to purchase Super Paper Mario (which is delayed in Europe), Resident Evil 4 Wii edition and Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles (lightgun games are sooo rad!).

I wonder what freud would say about you putting dogs ahead of your father in that sentence, but anyway...

it has to do with the sentence before it. i stated 'things that are or have been alive" my mother and dogs are alive. my father has pasted on.

You have my sincerest condolences. I dread the day either of my parents leave this world.

Got one on launch day and I'm still waiting for something as interesting and fun as Bowling in Wii Sports.
It may be a long wait.

I got it on the second big US push (stood in the cold, snowy outside of Best Buy for about 1 1/2 hours) and am glad I did. I've played and finished Rayman, Zelda and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. Other than that, I've got Rampage (for goofy reminiscing fun), SSX Blur, Warioware: Smooth Moves, and WiiPlay. It's great because my wife and I play together and she's not a big gamer. That and I've got Mario Kart 64, Super Mario Bros, Ecco the Dolphin, Donky Kong Country and I just got Punch Out this week.
I do plan on picking up a PS3 tomorrow probably, for future GTAIV but at least I'll have it for other games too.
One of the funny things is that I've become used to the Wii controller/nunchuck so going back to a stationary controller is almost difficult. But yes, playing the Wii games are a lot of fun. I think the interactivity is a lot better than the Playstation or Xbox.
Anyhow, that's my $.02

I have a Wii and I think its awesome. Waited overnight to get one and spent about $465 on launch day.
We have Zelda, Excite Truck, Super Monkey Ball, Wii Sports, Wii Play, and Rayman. I am waiting for a really good multiplayer or single player game, as I got tired of Zelda. I'm enjoying the free channels (Internet Channel, Everybody Votes Channel) We have four controllers, four nunchucks, and a Virtual Console controller, all I'm waiting for is an awesome party game.

I don't have one but I did track one down for a friend and pick it up for them. I really enjoy it and if I had more people over my house I'd get one. But considering I live alone my 360 is fine for me.
I've played Wii Sports, WarioWare, and the operation game. I really enjoyed them all and I think it's great for those kids today that don't play out side (/shame parents). It's a nice way to get kids active.
I'll get one eventually, but right now I just can't afford it.

I've had my Wii since a couple of weeks after launch. And it's great. Zelda and Excite Truck were amazing at launch. Right now I'm playing through Super Paper Mario. And Wii Sports has always been there holding down the fort. I can't wait for games like Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime to show up though.

I got my Wii the day it came out and was totally stoked, I got Zelda and loved it, got Excite Truck and loved it... then got... oh yeah I have not gotten anything because nothing good has come out!!!
I want GAMES! Well I have gotten some VC games that are cool. I have played games at some of my buddies places and nothing has excited me, I will just play Xbox360 (which I got AFTER my Wii).

Lined up for it on launch day, and have been a happy Wii owner since. I still play Wii sports, particularly baseball. At post pro levels it can get pretty intense. I love watching for the pitch, and seeing the spin on the ball. Even after playing it for months it still can be tough to lay off the splitters.
I got Wii play, and it's nice to have just for when non-gamer friends are around.
Wario Ware: Touched is pretty damn great. That dancing boss battle will have you laughing to tears as your friends make complete asses out of themselves.
Jeff: You said you opened yourself to flame bait- How the hell can you not like Twilight Princess? Is it the game itself, or was it the Wii functionality that you were referring to?

You should be all set then, Mario Party is out in June I think and you've already got Super Paper Mario over there, so there's your single player and multi player fix.

I'll second that, I think they are going to do amazing things with both games. The targeting on Metroid Prime should be really interesting to see.

Yeah, also can't wait for Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime. I think we just have to sit tight and wait for the good games.
And as for party games, Super Monkey Ball minigames are either on the spot, or don't work. As for Rayman, most of the games are one by one, not simultaneous.

True, right now we have the "gimmick" phase, just like the DS had, developers are just like, "How the **** do we use this, lets just do this."
I foresee one Nintendo actually starts cranking out games developed for the Wii and aren't just ported cube games that we'll get some true quality games, and that will in turn show the third party developers how to use the hardware in a way that has both style and substance.

I have the Wii60 combo. The Wii has great potential, but as a few of you said, it'll take a while before they figure out what it can really do. Great for when you have friends over. Beer + Trauma Center = Awesome. And anything that lets me play all my ol' 8-bit fav's gets bonus points. The 360 has all I need for solo play, and bonus points for SF2: Hyper Fighting. Street Fighter + Online = Hadoken.

I would push my own mother down a flight of stairs to play my Wii.
Does that answer the question?

Agreed. I'm hesitant to get one at the moment (360 is occupying me just fine) b/c I want to see if it turns out to follow the DS (slow start, but then awesome) or Gamecube (no 3rd party support) route.
