welcome to the forum. I know we talked (on the main site I think) about this guy's version of #5 and #6. Thanks for the link. Looking forward to checking it out. The ones I've seen are funny

Thanks. I laughed my a** off. Just plowed through most of the real thing, and this version confirms what I thought the book needed -- a writer. Isn't this the kind of thing JMS tries to do, and just falls flat on his face?

I liked this. Laughed my a** off.

I've read a little so far and I like it. There's a book out right now called "What Were They Thinking?" that does the same thing with silver age books and if you've never read the Marvel Romance series and like this sort of thing you should check that out as well.

Damn, the art in Civil War sure was good. I almost forgot about it. That I could forget the more awful elements of Civil War. /le sigh

Yes, great art, the awful elements? You mean...the writing? Mark Millar is now officially dead to me. I think writers can fall prey to self indulgence (not true with The Ultimates) and then they can fall prey to self indulgence (CW). I wonder if McNiven and Millar even returned Marvel's phone calls when they were doing the stuff, hence the "Infinite Continuity Crisis on Infinite Marvel Titles." CW has so much of the overblown indulgences of The Authoriy and The Ultimates, but none of the redeeming features, one wonders how much Brian Hitch had a hand in the other books in how the stories were layed out and structured.

Actually, I have so many good comics I'm reading, I can't get around to much of the spoof stuff of Silver Age. It's just that CW was just so badly handled and so much money shelled out for that junk, its nice to see something now that "cleanses the pallet" so to speak.

Spoofing Silver age stuff is an easy gag, but McNiven drawing Cap and Hill looking like they have more lip stick on then a drag queen in 2007? That is ripe for the spoofing.

I found the guy's Frontline reply (http://mightygodking.livejournal.com/300945.html#cutid1) incredibly satasfying.
Also apparently the same guy is petitioning to be the new legion writer (http://mightygodking.livejournal.com/tag/i+should+write+the+legion)

Thanks, reading that just totally saved me the time of even THINKING about wasting time reading Frontline at all. I love that the guy doing this "spoof" didn't even add many of his jokes, but just put in stuff that was in the (few) books by the better writers.

I love how Brubaker and Bendis seem to have forseen what a train wreck this whole CW "project" was, steered as clear as they could during the actual event, and then just cherry picked the good stuff to run with for themselves.

That's so not a parenthetical footnote.

Story! Story! Story!

I'm holding a knife and fork and banging my fists on the table. I don't know why.

No, I just meant it's too exciting a story to be side-lined as a footnote. Bottom-lined?

No worries. I got what you meant. PA is popular enough that someone would recognize the reference. So I owned up to it. Least you all think I was attacked by a leopard.

According to LITG (Rich Johnston) the guy may actually have been asked by dc to hand in test scripts for a legion proposal because of his campaign

the story is here (http://www.comicbookresources.com/columns/?column=13)
