Hi
I love the show but sometimes (and by that I mean way to often) there is distortion when either of the hosts speaks too loud or they all speak at the same time. And I just can't stand this. In fact it makes me reluctant to watch the show even though it's great in every other way... I don't experience this with any of the other Revision3 shows that I watch. So I beg you please keep the sound level <= 0 dB when you're recording...

I've experienced this. After extensive investigation, I have determined this "distortion" to actually be a ripple in the space-time continuum resulting from RADNESS overload.

There's a fair amount of noise in the audio. I only notice it because I play the thing through my home-theater system. It's not a fatal flaw. It' also understandable considering the probably non-existent budget for sound toys.

I play it through my home audio system, and I don't notice any problems. Not that it should matter too, too much, but I use the large h.264.
What are you guys watching that has the distortion?
I am super sensitive to noise, and I haven't ever had a problem?

I'm using the .wmv. It might be the connection to the TV, but I haven't notice it with other shows...

I do notice it, but it really isn't bothersome. Maybe for the people who watch it on their TV, but not for me. (Maybe its cause I watch it on my Zune.)
I notice the distortion too. I'm watching the large XVid.
Just watched a bit of the large quicktime too. Same distortion so no difference between formats. Gotta agree with jeanseb86. This anoys the crap out of me.

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that we are actively working on this (and by 'we' I mean Steve) and hope to have a much better sounding ep 6.

I watch it on the zune as well. Even through insane bouts of laughter, I experience no distortion whatsoever. Must just be you :)

Maybe a Zune formatted feed of the show? (Or is the Zune just not that cool/popular for Rev 3 yet..)

The small wmv goes on fine, but it is "letterboxed" on the zune...still though, no converting.

Luckily I have no distortion what so ever, I use headphones that zoom into my ears.
Watching ep07... Shitload of distortion :(
This is totally unRad.

Episode 7 was an exception. There were a couple things that contributed to it. The laughing segment was un-avoidable. I am trying to resolve this on an ongoing basis. Unfortunately we don't have high grade equipment, so I am doing the best I can with what we have.
I have a few ideas that I am going to try in the next episode so please be patient.
I promise I will not rest until your ears are as happy as your eyes :D

The only time I notice distortion is on the explosions (Triforce of RADness, Intro to the movie segment (Take that Dan!)
I'm playing it through onboard sound analog out to Old Aiwa bookshelf system. I've downloaded h264, xVid, and WMV...they all do it for me.
It's tough because I usually watch late at night (because my girlfriend can't handle the "radness" of my podcast viewing) and I have to turn it up rather loud to be able to hear the voice, and then I see Alex, Dan, and Jeff fisting up and I scramble for the remote to turn it down before it rumbles the house and wakes up the family.

That I can definitely adjust. Let me know if the next episode is better for you. I just thought everyone enjoyed loud explosions :)

hehe....Oh I don't know if they guys have actually named said move....I just thought of that when i was describing the action :) But they are quite welcome to adopt the phrase!
Oh and I'd like to say that I DO think explosions are awesome! And I love them in the show...just that the volume of the explosions seems a tiny bit loud...or at least on my mediocre speakers

hey this gal is all for a good loud explosion. i think the problem is the volume of the explosions versus the volume of them talking. i notice it too with the opening to the movie and video game segments. maybe if the volume over all was more even then it wouldn't be mad dash for the volume control for some of us.

Hmm.....I been searching for a girl like you my whole life :)
Just kidding, but all the girls I know like their entertainment decidedly explosion free, which is really sad.
Anyone else notice the crickets or what sounds like crickets, throughout episode seven during the quite passages?

Yes, the sound is complete and utter crap on TRS. Sounds like an old radio. As voiced by others, it can be enough to make me not watch the show (well maybe not, but let's add some pressure here). The video really isn't too good either. HD please? :D
I'm watching the high-rez H.264.

The sound is not complete and utter crap, but it could use improvement. Part of the problem is the environment that we shoot in. I am not going to go into any detail, but since we are making this ourselves we are using the tools and locations that are available to us. As the show grows hopefully we will be able to upgrade the quality of many things.
And the way we put the show together does not make it possible for it to be in HD right now. Plus the file size would be gigundous.
But like I said earlier, we are committed to to making a good quality show and I am constantly working on improving the technical aspects. Thanks to all who are contributing suggestions for improvement.

I think the sound is just fine. Just a little normalization or whatever you would call that (making the sound all on a similar volume level) and it'll be just perfect for the medium. You really can't expect an HD podcast. At least not until everyone can get 15Mb+ connections and TRS gets more sponsors or more money to cover the bandwidth costs HD would bring. I mean an HD trailer is what, like 100-200MB and is only a few minutes long?
I'm really happy with the show and glad it's here. I love diggnation and Indigital, but I think TRS may have taken the #1 spot in my little podcast heart :)
EDIT: Oh BTW, I don't know who does the editing and graphics, but I love them! They totally add to the show and make it that much more enjoyable. I assume the greenscreen helps to make that a little easier, so good call on that one :) Keep up the great work!

Yeah I think I've noticed the noise, but it doesn't bother me as it's not too bad. Though Jeff was laughing pretty hard into his mic that there was quite a bit of noise. :D
