Ugh....why?
too many reasons to name, ranging from coding, to design, to general scope of the site
last time I really explained it fully was on a site that I was a part of that decided it wanted to be all about myspace. I voiced my opinion on the site about the design and coding aspect thinking that the owner of the site, being a web designer and brander by trade, would be able to see what I was talking about.....to make a long story short
......I was banned from said site because I didn't like myspace. I had been a member there for years, well known, with about 9,000 posts, mostly positive and helpful posts at that.
So..a...yeah...I don't think I'll get into that whole fiasco here. Its really not worth the time it takes to type it all, but I'm sure if you take a step back you'll know what I'm talking about

I know what you're talking about, it's crap, and slow as dog feces. But...eh...something about it just attracts me to mindlessly surf it's errorful and corrupt pages. Oh well, what's one to do?
my gf converted me to myspace.. that whore

Oh yea, the coding/design of Myspace is crap. :)
I thought you were trying to pin it down to the users as making it crap. I hate it when people say "well peoples profiles look horrible" and "its full of emo people". People tend to forget that not everyone is into computers/technology like we are so if they don't know how to code then there not going to have the best looking Myspace. I think Myspace is good in a way when it comes to people learning things like HTML/CSS. Go to any high school in the US right now and I bet you will see a significant increase in people that know basic HTML/CSS then you would before Myspace was around. I think that aspect of Myspace is really cool (Myspace actually got my girlfriend interested in Web Design...she learned HTML/CSS by herself due to MySpace).
When it comes to the "emo thing"...well thats just a stupid argument to make. There are how many people with MySpace accounts? Of course there are emo people, there are also gangsters, rednecks, preps, jocks, whites, blacks, asians....(you get the point)
I realize there are too many people on there now to make that argument of the type of people.
However a lot of people while not knowing about web design should have enough common sense to see that their page has text that can't be read due to a flashing animated background or way to busy of a page, then compound that with 3 minute load times....Though I do realize that thinking of these things comes with time and everyones first website is a bloated piece of animated crap :p I was guilty of making on of those back in '98
But the myspace template itself doesn't lend to good design. it is VERY difficult to take what they provide and make it look halfway decent, I've seen maybe 2 that I would call good looking web pages.
The main issue though is the whole back end of the site, the slowness, etc. Not to mention the poorly embedded videos that constantly crash browsers
and the embedded music with autoplay....ugg. Wasn't there just a story on digg about the 10 reasons why that is a horrid idea? haha
