In the Podcasting episode a Compact Flash Recorder was shown when visiting the TWiT studio. Unfortunately, the show notes for the episode don't give links or information on the Compact Flash Recorder model.

What model/make was used and what's a recommendation for a mid to low range Compact Flash Recorder suitable for the home podcaster?

I love the idea of it so I can podcast on the go, my iRiver is wearing, and this could be the way to do it.

Also, does anyone know if the Compact Flash Recorder has outlets for more than one microphone to plug in?

They aint cheap, but theyre pretty high quality designed for the pros. Been along time since i watched that episode but think leo's was the Marantz, and then theres a cheaper model I was looking at recently, dunno how good it is.

For a lower end pro recorder I would check out Fostex (http://fostex.com/index.php?file=products/pfr/pfr)'s two CF recorders don't look to bad as far as price range. But if you got the money I would splurge for Sound Devices (http://sounddevices.com/products/7.htm). They make a really great line of solid-state recorders that support 24-bit/192kHZ. They also have XLR inputs with +48 volt phantom power. One thing though Its kind of a shame that in the later version of the firmware they took out the ability to record straight to mp3, but then again mp3 isn't the best format to be using when recording pro audio.
